  1. Well, I'm ready for the most important series in the history of sports.
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 09:35 AM) Ahhh.. just signed my letter of resignation. wow, it IS time for drinks then.
  3. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 11:18 AM) What if the second line rhymes too? I wrote this one last year: Great Ozzie man say Pitching and defense the way To World Series play! It still applies. Nah, that's closer to a lemerick
  4. yep, who needs a back up catcher after all?
  5. Widge 06=Timo 05 around here lately..
  6. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 09:08 AM) The Sox wear the crown hence, the inevitable Detroit will go down!! The only true Haiku in this thread.^ 1st line, 5 syll 2nd line, 7 syll 3rd line, 5 syll 1st and 3rd lines must rhyme
  7. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 01:01 AM) Hitting is not the issue, it is the pitching. b..bu....but Jimmy, Pauly and Dye went like 1 for 12 Sunday!!!
  8. QUOTE(bmags @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 06:31 AM) so they aren't as good as hootie and the blowfish eh... Dude, I almost spit my coffe out.
  9. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) I think I have been trapped in a transitional phase of music in my life. I really like classic rock, I have put Zeppelin, T Rex, The Cars, ELO, Dylan, Rolling Stones, The Eagles, Eric Clapton, Jethro tull, Peter Gabriel, and Pink floyd on my Ipod recently, and i also have my wide array of 90's-2000's rock/rap/jazz on my ipod as well. But nothing new strikes me anymore. I think the radio stations of Chicago have totally deprogrammed me and are forcing me to think outside of the box for new music, but I dont have the time(or the inclination) to research music I would like, so I have stuck to what I really really like(Failure, Brand New, 311, Blinker the Star, etc.) instead of seeking out new music. Its a really strange phase for me, I used to be "that guy" at our college parties who would break out anything and everything you never knew about and blast it. I hear ya, most new music just sounds like bands trying to 'outweird' each other. Every once in a while I tune back in and get caught up and find myself being dissapointed or even shocked at what is considered 'good'.
  10. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) Starting pitching for s***, shoddy defense, no speed and a team that tries to outslug you. That might desribe the past two weeks, but I'll bet at least 3 of those things turn around in the 2nd half.
  11. QUOTE(bmags @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) they're - a few members but i think it should still be pretty cool. I'm a pretty big tropicalia fan. Into got blue cheer and rory erickson so p4k got os mutantes. pitchfork seemed like they were competing with vice with their lineups. I think pitchfork won, but also they are severely suffering from a lack of diversity...few hip hop/electronic acts on the big stage, you can only take so much indie rock. "...you can only take so much indie rock." Oh no you di-ent.
  12. Just curious, when was the last time a defending WS champ didn't make the post season the following year?
  13. Welcome, we need more love for Jimmy on this board.
  14. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 02:15 PM) A few weeks back someone compared this team with last year's Red Sox. Looks like they were dead on. How so?
  15. "Should I be used?" I'm sure you can get a good deal without getting used.
  16. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 05:43 PM) I don't know what the big deal is about walking barefoot. There's a reason why your feet are built the way they are, and part of it is that we weren't evolved with shoes. Barefeet in public is my per peeve. There is a time and a place for everything. If you've been in closed shoes all day and suddenly decide you want to take them off in a public place and share the funk with everyone in the room, that's nasty. I see women do it in restaurants all the time. I saw a guy eating at an outdoor cafe the other day wearing open sandals. Between bites he'd massge his foot and then go back to his fork or reach for bread at the table.
  17. QUOTE(MichiganBorn @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 12:44 PM) No I meant they lost the game and lost the chance to go up 5.5 games. Sorry bad grammar. My question was not in response to anything . I was just randomly wondering when the last time was that the Tigers had lost two straight? How about a series loss?
  18. Kinda related. We visited this volcano a few years ago, scary stuff. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...6071501076.html
  19. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 11:32 AM) The Sox are 8-8 since Mariotti went on his "little vacation" from the Tribune. The Sox were 49-26 before that point, coincidence? The curse of the fairy? Great :headshake
  20. One thing I'd like to see Mark do when he is getting rocked is step off the mound and compose himself. I realize it might never happen, because his pace is such a big part of the type of pitcher he is, but when gets lit up, it happens in a hurry.
  21. I guess the Yankee fans got tired of hearing the 'Pau-lee Pau-lee' and 'Let's go White Sox' chants all weekend. Did anyone notice the mock 'Paul-ee Paul-ee' and 'Let's go Yankees' chants that went up in the 9th when he hit into that dp? I've NEVER heard that chant at Yankee stadium before. What a classy bunch those New Yorkers.
  22. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 08:34 AM) I'm going saturday, it will be great seeing Destroyer, Ted Leo and Band of Horses. I'm so pissed I can't make Sat. It's the better day. Have fun man!
  23. "i know he played very good during the playoffs and contributed to the sox winning it all but ive never liked the guy (as a player)" Classic.
