QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 07:50 PM) You got word he'll be back? Regarding Morel, I've hated his approach all year, but it's nice to see him finally swing at the ball like a man. I've been waiting for him to turn and burn all year and it appears he is finally doing it (just in time as the season is over). It still doesn't exonerate him from being guilty of being a sally at the plate most of the year, however. If it's not lift and pull which we hear so much about on here and not in a good way it's hitting like a pansy ? As a rookie maybe he was just getting a feel on how to approach certain pitchers or pitchers in general. Both HR's tonight on 1st pitch fastballs. He seems to be a smart player and I think next year we see a batter average and power to go with that stellar glove.

QUOTE (hawksox13 @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 06:33 PM) Football over pointless White Sox baseball shouldn't puzzle you. And nobody cares about Juan Pierre's 2,000th hit. Let's be honest, he didn't do much of his "damage" in a Sox uniform and he isn't well liked by the fan base. Guess there isn't as many die-hards as I thought here.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 07:10 PM) Morel has a bunch of walls lately. 7 in the last 2 weeks. This is of course what I've been saying the whole time... Development takes time Me and you are some of the few who like Morel. For a rookie who plays great defense he gets way too much hate around here. Also one of the few Sox who can go to right when the situation calls for it. Too many around here want instant superstars. I want progress from a rookie and he's showed me that. -
Crede will be there.

I'm glad you posted this. Since hearing various posters say Santos is a mental midget I've been trying to find closer stats and this provides them. We could certainly be worse off than with Santos as closer. His save percentage is the only thing that a top close would be better. The peripherals are outstanding.

They say misery loves company. We can build a factory and make misery. Frustrated incorporated.

No it's not a useless thread. It's tradition when the Sox win .

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 04:14 PM) Ha no problem, it felt good to vent a little anyways. None of that was directed at you either. As little attention as I paid to the team this year, it was extremely frustrating as a fan because you knew exactly how it was going to play out. Some of us just have a tendency to convince ourselves that this year is going to be different. In the past 10 years, its only been different 2 times. I am convinced things would have been much better if they had brought up Viciedo and to a lesser extent De Aza before DV's injury. His injury then screwed up bringing him up for another month or more. Just shows how much weight big contracts really carry . -
Unfortunately the best and worst move the Sox can make is getting rid of/keeping Buerhle. Pierre gone. Frasor gone (get the Type B pick). Thornton gone. Both replaced by Reed , Infante, Santiago whoever. Impossible to move Peavy, Rios, Dunn unless packaged with someone like Sale but that defeats the purpose of having good young talent to replace old expensive talent. If Buerhle /Quentin et al are traded/unsigned its a direct result of keeping Peavy , Dunn , Rios and those guys are the most despised guys by fandom for big contracts and under performance . Attendance will be even worse next year unless all 3 of the sucky 3 turn it around. Not looking good at all so I expect payroll to be somewhere between $15-20 million less next year. Sale, Humber and Stewart almost certainly will get a shot at the rotation considering they all are cheap and the Sox need to maximize value in their current state. Danks will be shopped . I know people suggest Floyd as the greater trade piece based on contract but something has to be done with Danks. So look for the Sox to get more young arms in any trades they make. I think the current infield stays intact IF Ozzie and coaches are gone. A lot depends on who is the manager next year.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 02:45 AM) If I am interpreting your correctly, then you are wrong. I am one of the biggest homers on this board. I also look at things realistically and objectively and can see that, because the White Sox struggled early and because the magical powers of "CANNOT BE BEATEN" have transferred from the Twins to the Tigers, the White Sox are going to lose this division. I am happy both Humber and Stewart pitched well, and it doesn't surprise me in the least that Humber getting some time off saved his arm and, as a result, his performance improved, even if it was against this s***astic version of the Twins. I don't care what number they pick at - the general talent level of guys between 6-20 is virtually microscopic, excluding players with signability issues. The best prospect in the game last year was drafted in the 20th round. The (second) best prospect in the game this year was a first rounder - drafted 25th overall. (oh, and for shiznits and gizzigles, the 2009 MiLB.com players of the year, both pitching and hitting? some dudes named Dan Hudson and Chris Carter. For the record, neither were first round picks) The only thing I care about right now is that Reinsdorf and the board make the right call and fire Ozzie (because he will not accept reassignment within the organization) and either fire or reassign Williams (because I believe he would, and he is a good baseball mind to have on board - just no longer as the GM). There is simply no justification for this mess, and if the manager and GM cannot work together, then both must go. Ha no my post had nothing to do with yours actually. I just hit reply instead of fast reply . Actually just wanted to add that to my 1st post. Sorry for the confusion. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 08:28 PM) Do you know how I know that the Twins are bad? The White Sox have won 7 of 8 and 8 of 10 against them. Do you know how badly the White Sox messed up early in the year? With virtually the same roster of nobodies, has beens, and never will be's, the Twins could still easily win the season series. Apologies to the guys who want a higher draft pick. -
Stewart really needed a good start and he came up with a great one. Humber looked good too. Twins are bad but nice to see candidates for the rotation next year step up.

Humber's a line drive magnet.
