  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 11, 2012 -> 04:47 AM) I was happy with the walkoff, congratulate him on his first career homer, and the unreal timing of it, but he's still a subpar bat. He's actually about a month older than Gordon Beckham. I think we have 5 walk offs this year and I know for sure our bench has done 2 of them. Escobar had one and now Danks.
  2. I needed to put a after that post. It's all good.
  3. Fun reading through this thread. I played 12" inch for a few years in my late 40's to 50 until RA forced me to retire. I miss it. I was a starting 1st baseman for our team. Our team went from sucky to pretty good over the 2 years I played. The infielders loved me because I'm so tall and I could pick those low throws in the dirt. Good thing about playing in California is you can play year round. The new composite type bats really amazed me. I could hit a ball farther at 50 with these bats than I could at 25. Surprised there hasn't been any posting in this thread for a while since it's gotta be softball season in Chicago now.
  4. Don't know anything about the quality of the opponent but nice seeing Hector pitch a good 5 innings. I read where he's going to be working on throwing 5 pitches so if he stuck to that he pitched great not relying on his best pitches.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 07:29 PM) Beat me to it. Lock and delete this biatch. I'm a little slow but I'm starting to understand all the negative posting.Whenever you say something positive it's a jinx so must be that negative comments are a reverse jinx so all that bad stuff in game threads means they are hoping what they say/write makes the Sox do better .
  6. Ha Francoeur stealing popcorn is classic.
  7. Even though the Sox have way more HR during the season KC out homering Sox head to head.
  8. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 04:28 PM) Uh oh mlb.tv not working for the 7:05 EST games... get your s*** together I want to stress out while watching the Sox dammit! Come on over You can watch on DirecTV
  9. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 04:03 PM) Over/Under 2 runs scored today I'll take the over for an easy win.
  10. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 02:11 PM) My whining comes mostly from the fact that this team has been in first place for 70+ days, and if they miss the postseason it will crush me (and I'm sure other people on the site) It will hurt 10000 x more than if they had just lost 95 like they were being predicted as losing. I would prefer losing 95 to missing the post season by 1-2 games It's tight right now and every single game matters, so we as message board fans who obviously know better get a little chappy when s*** like this happens. I hope these days off reinvigorate the team and they run all the way to October, but in the meantime every game is gonna be looked at under the worlds largest internet microscope. If we can't rest guys against Guthrie who's had been just as bad as Humber when can you rest them ? I think the sun in California and the recent quakes have got you a little bit shook up. Rather lose 95 than have a wonderful season like we are having ? Sheesh ! Lucky Robin got word Youk and De Aza were ready tonight because he originally was going to keep out PK Rios Youk and ADA.
  11. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 03:58 PM) There will be no need for a game winning hit, I'm calling a big first inning. Are you Soxman 2nd City Saint ?
  12. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 09:40 AM) I personally got tired of my optimism constantly being shut down when I saw a good ball club. Now that everyone sees more of what I saw everything I wanna say has already been said. I can't not read these boards though, they supply this jobless fellow hours of entertainment. Are you Soxman or do you just think he's cool/funny ?
  13. The best Sox blog out there Southsidesox.com does a nice write up on the relievers the Sox have picked up in recent memory at the trade deadline . In the last 13 games bullpen has a 1.32 ERA in which the team has gone 10-3. All 3 Sox pickups have been outstanding so far. Here is the link http://www.southsidesox.com/2012/8/7/32250...-help#storyjump
  14. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 09:02 PM) Paulie with his first clutch hit in forever! (Side note, does it seem like he's holding his hands lower? Wrist still bugging him) Anyways, Sale's velo way back up. Great to see. Oh... and f*** THE TIGERS. Wasted a Verlander start and didn't gain anything in the standings. "NO GROUND FOR YOU!!" The GROUND Nazi ???
  15. YOUKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
  16. Looks like we're going to win or lose this thing doing so with our best starters. We'll see how Sale looks tomorrow.
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 06:25 PM) And with our luck they'll bring up half their farm and go on a mini roll right when we're about to face them. What's wrong with our luck ? I kind of like it this year.
  18. Oh Boy Oh boy The Sox are rockin , the Sox are rockin !
  19. QUOTE (bulokis @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 01:38 PM) What happened to liriano? He came out after 75 pitches? Hot shot off inner knee probably not inured as he pitched after that. Just needed to ice it to keep it from stiffening up.
