QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:52 PM) I know he has to deal with quite a few knuckleheads calling in to the postgame shows, but does anyone else think Ranger is a little full of it/himself? I find his demeanor to be condescending at times and he seems to toe the company line far too often as well. Forgive me (or warn me) if I am crossing the line of personal attacks, but to me it hits home even more when he posts here and gets into arguments with others. For the most part, I think this site is not full of the same post game caller idiots he typically deals with and he shouldn't approach them as if they are. On occasion he beats his arguments to death and appears both stubborn and arrogant. I also have noticed far too many posters on here stroke him because he is a supposed radio personality and they give him a free pass when he is spewing the cliches. I know he can't be held responsible for the actions of fanboys, but they act as if he is really courageous for posting and getting flamed. Well, isn't that a risk we all take? A riskier approach would be if he stated that most of these "hated" players were put into a position to fail too often and that it is understandable when the fans take it out on the player, but the fans should realize the player is only trying to do the job asked of him by the manager. No, he won't ruffle feathers like that, but rather say dumb things like "Kotsay is not going to cost you the division...if the Sox lose the division, it will be because their pitching failed." That is what he actually posted in one topic here the other day and he got some level of praise for posting his opinions. It really burns me up! Again, sorry if this is construed as a personal attack, but if we can flame Hawk and Stone for sugar coating the Kotsay issue, then I think Rongey is fair game, too. Just the fact I doubt he's ever made a post that was not responded to by another poster is stroking. Most of us normal (non-celebrity type) posters have at least half our posts not responded to in any way. As far as being stubborn and arrogant I think that's the case with a lot Soxtalkers who know they have considerable knowledge and resources and aren't lazy about using them to make their points. So in that way he is no different than a many of us on here.

Washington put Dunn on waivers.

I think you guys ride Coolman a little bit too hard. So he likes Hot Fire , there's no harm in that. I still like calling Tank Hollywood in the best Chris Berman tradition of nicknames. But I know it won't stick because Tank fits him much better . Lillibridge's swing on the triple reminded me a lot of Konerko's swing when he goes to right . It was short and sweet .

What we have is a very young man who has continued to hit very well while playing sporadically against mostly lefties. I'm one of the 1st in line when he comes to using hyberbole when it comes to Tank. But we can be sure we'll see growing pains especially against righties, we'll see his K's increase . He won't walk so pitchers will throw him a lot more stuff off the plate. We'll see how he adjusts when he's not getting too many strikes to hit. I know we all want to see him playing more but so far the results point to Oz doing a good job picking and choosing who he faces. In the middle of chasing a division title OZ can't really play him too much at 3rd base so he needs to DH a lot more. Problem is with Teahen coming back soon it will cut into his chances to play even more. If only Oz or KW dumped Kotsay. There's really no reason to keep him when he can only play 1st and pitch hit. Then Teahen, Tank and Omar can all share 3rd and DH and I think we'll all feel better about the team going forward.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 03:37 PM) Who's a power hitter with a shaky future contract situation that nobody has brought up in trade talks? Josh Hamilton .

QUOTE (Soxman72 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 11:32 AM) Does anyone else find it odd that the Sox are not getting any money in return from Arizona? Usually the Sox get money back in a trade and IMO this is a tell that Jackson is going to be move for another player(s). Thoughts? That's why everyone doesn't like the deal. I think we're going to get an outfielder .

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 11:17 AM) Damn I just found it, Viciedo changed his agents from Torres to Boras. Completely missed it. Which is why he'll be gone in the next trade. A bat is coming it will be a very good one.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:11 PM) This seems like an entirely different situation. Thome was let go because Ozzie didn't want him clogging the bases the times he didn't strike out or homer. I think the poster is simply stating that Luke Scott mashing Twins' pitching can only be seen as a positive. In no way can it be a bad thing. Nobody advocates signing Scott purely based on this either. It is a positive. There will always be people who argue anything you say. If he was 0-22 and you didn't recommended him . There would be those who say " Get him he's due. " Just like limited sample sizes with how you hit with the bases loaded or 2 outs RISP , you just feel better about it when it's really good as opposed to really bad. Confidence in those situations means a lot. -
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 12:41 PM) I dunno, it works if you only consider earned runs. I was just looking at Threets game log out of curiousity and happened to notice. Didn't really pay much attention to the original post Well I kind of fudged it. I knew Thornton, Putz , Santos and Jenks were right. Threets has a 0.00 ERA in 7 appearances so I threw it in there . Impressive even if you take out Threets .

Putz 27, Thornton 17, Threets 7, Santos 6, Jenks 2 = 59 scoreless appearances currently going.

Sept 2 2006 was the last time Jenks pitched a perfect save inning with 3 'K. Sergio Santos recorded his sixth consecutive scoreless appearance, Matt Thornton made his 17th consecutive scoreless appearance and J.J. Putz extended his White Sox record to 27 scoreless appearances. -
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:13 AM) This is a perfect analogy of what Jenks has been doing. Jenks was awesome last night. When he had the last hitter at two strikes, I said to my wife, "He's gotta throw the hook." And he did, and that hook was like watching a video of 2005. Sept. 2nd 2006 was the last time Jenks had a 1-2-3 inning with 3 K's.
