QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 09:28 AM) Pretty solid trade! Rickrolled !! BWA HAHAHHAAAAAA !! Never gonna tell u lies and hurt u ..... Weird. I never wrote pretty solid trade. Did some one else write that and get embarrassed that they fell for the joke and delete it because I can't find it. If it was a reply to a quote why isn't it in a quote box ? If you respond to a quote and the person deletes their post does the quote box vanish ? I need coffee !

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 03:12 AM) How's that Sesame Street song go? One of these things is not like the other...one of these things just doesn't belong. Sounds a bit like the Foofighters ,The Pretender. What if I say I'm not like the others? What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays? I knpw it's a bit of a stretch but I'm trying to get to 1000 posts

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 08:20 PM) I have a feeling you're with me when I say I disagree with just about every personnel decision that's been made over the last few weeks. Fields over Crede when a rehab assignment for Crede would be best. Masset over Wasserman. Thome not only in there against CC but batting 3rd. Ozuna not starting against CC. Anderson not in center against CC. Ramirez could DH. These are the ones I disagree with. I'm sure your list is longer.

Alexei Ramirez to start at CF on Opening Day?
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to DaTank's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 06:54 AM) On Thome, these were his overall numbers against lefties last season; .196/.314/.350 So pretty average. It's be great for the Sox if a Quentin or BA could really step up against lefties and give Ozzie that 2nd option as a DH. Jim still got 289 AB's against righties and crushed 29HR's, that's 1 every 10 plate appearnce. Whether Ozzie would ever platoon him though, I don't know. It's something he needs to consider though. He's got to consider it . Thome is no spring chicken and should be rest once every week to 10 days when a lefty is on the mound. This would seem to be an easy decision considering his age, injuries and averageness against lefties. I love Thome against righties and he would be the best option to PH once we get a righty reliever into the game. -
Alexei Ramirez to start at CF on Opening Day?

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 06:33 AM) Weird how Swisher was to be starting at CF, and now all of a sudden, Alexei has won the CF job. I think it's going to be a muddled picture all season long, unless Ramirez produces from the get - go. The only thing muddled is Ozzies mind. He talked about Ozuna starting and Thome batting 5th against tough lefthanders then did neither. Against the Cy Young winner you have to have your best defense on the field. If you want Ramirez in the lineup just DH him and put Anderson in center. Thome batting 3rd with his 0-11 & 7 K lifetime line against CC . Ozzie puts the most plodding team in against a guy who if he allows base runners won't even need to worry about holding them on. Ozzies convinced by Ramirez' spring that he deserves to play but not Anderson's spring ? -
Opening Day Starting lineup questions

QUOTE(scenario @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) I wouldn't be surprised to see Ozuna as a game time decision at 3B... giving Crede another day of rest for his ankle. I would be surprised since Crede started at 3rd against the Mets. -
Opening Day Starting lineup questions
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to southsideirish71's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 08:29 PM) Hopefully this is a typo by Phil Rogers. So we have a guy named Pablo who hits .400 against CC, and gets on base over .400 OBP with a .953 OPS. And we are starting Uribe who has a career .200BA against CC and a sub .600 career OPS against. Help me with this one . Thome is 0-11 lifetime against CC including 7ks. The only one with success in the lineup on Monday against CC is Swisher who hits him at .385. Guillen also mentioned Thome batting 5th against tough lefthanders so that didn't go down either. He shouldn't even be in the lineup against Sabathia. Just assuming it will be a low scoring game why not have the extra righty and very good defense of Anderson in center and Ramirez or Quentin DHing ? I'm stumped as well about Ozuna not in there. Plus Swisher is in a terrible slump right now with 4 hits in his last 45 AB's. -

QUOTE(TLAK @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 05:01 PM) Pravda! Its a real link. Love ya Balta! Even the commies know about it (although they are probably following Brian Anderson). Great post. I like the story about the Illinois shaped cornflake that sold on ebay for $1350.00 -
Alexei Ramirez to start at CF on Opening Day?
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to DaTank's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 06:06 AM) Something different, yes. To worry about, no. 7 k in 11 ab, that's the zenith of futility. I know it's not gonna happen, because it would considered a dis, but it's got nothing to do with baseball strategy. You can't look at Thome's history against Sabathia and think there's anything useful in having him in the lineup. But it should happen . Thome is a pro . He's got to know he sucks against CC. He's getting older though still highly effective but not nearly as much against lefthanders. He's got to know he won't play 162 games a year. If every win counts Ozzie has to explain he only wants to win every game. Put the best damn lineup out there all the time. I don't give a rats ass if it's opening day. If you always worry about "dissing" someone or getting someones value up then you're sacrificing wins and in a win now mode that just doesn't suit me. If it's a close game there will be opportunities to PH. -

Alexei Ramirez to start at CF on Opening Day?
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to DaTank's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 06:48 PM) I'd rather see Thome and his career 0-for-11, 7k line against Sabathia riding the bench, personally. Obviously won't happen, I know. I agree. Opening day be damned. Hell why not put BA in center and have Quentin or Ramirez DH and have them up higher in the order. If Ramirez is in there because he's a good fastball hitter put him where he can do some damage. Why have him hitting last behind the lefthanded AJ and Rusty Crede ? -
QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 09:02 AM) I think a rehab assignment is limited to two weeks. But yes, it happens quite often. I know. I just don't see why it hasn't been considered more in the zillions of posts I've read re: Crede/Fields. If the point of keeping Crede is his defense , he hasnt looked all that sharp , mostly his throws are off. Wins at the beginning of the season count just as much as wins at the end. Keeping a bad hitting bad fielding Joe can cost wins. Joe should be on a rehab assignment. Even if Crede does fairly well what's the most the Sox could get for him in trade ? A AA or AAA mediocre prospect ? Kenny's eventually going to have to bite the bullet with Joe . The only way he can save face is for another teams' 3rd baseman going down with an injury while Joe is heating up if that ever happens. Boras has got to be the happiest guy around knowing the Sox are doing him a favor by playing Joe.That way he can prove he's healthy and possibly prove he can still play too.

Logan pitched 2 perfect innings tonight . Might be a sign that a few of our 1 inning specialists might have to go longer without Masset.

QUOTE(flavum @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 08:22 PM) No love for Hermanson and Politte? There were plenty of career years. I did think of Hermanson just didnt add him in there cause so far thats pretty much Cotts only good year. Hermanson had been a decent pitcher before that and so had Politte. -

QUOTE(flavum @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 08:13 PM) I just looked through the box scores. Since the off day on March 13, Swisher is 4-40 (.100), with 8 walks. Sox win, but I think Carrasco hurt his knee on the final play of the game. Was a lineout comebacker to Carrasco. Hope he's OK. Spring ERA down to 2.19 -

Carrasco give up a walk then a lineout DP , gets save, Sox win 5-4. Anyone seriously think Carrasco is in the mix for a BP slot ?
