Balls must be slippery today. Javy couldn't pick up the bunt, AJ couldnt find the handle on the SB and Juan double clutched on the GO. -
Although their are many factors to produce win's in a team sport like baseball for me it's Dank. Basically he was the stopper after the 0-2 start. Seeing Quentin's bat and arm also impressed. Haven't see anything yet about Crede's play. It was such a heated debate that it seems his detractors are not yet willing to say he's done better than expected. I was pretty split on the subject wanting him to open the season rehabbing in the minors.

Peavy complete game W vs. Dodgers 4-1 here on the left coast on Fox. Only run Dodgers got was a Furcal triple and a great diving catch by san diego catcher sliding into the dugout on pop up but umps awarded Furcal home because catcher slid off the field of play thus getting an error on a great sliding catch. Damn bonus coverage isnt Sox game . Went to Mets/Braves.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 01:39 PM) No offense, but this is the type of post which I feel has really deteriorated this board. And your posts about over rated defense and slow bat are good posts ? He's a very capable defender and hitter yet you say what you say to constantly try to support your dislike for the Garland trade. Let it play out.

QUOTE(SoIL @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 05:52 PM) Born in '58 also. The Sox were on 32 and some years 44. Possibly both channels during the same year. Harry used to do Falstaff commercials from the booth with (cf?) camera on him. From what I remember, he took many swigs from those cold cans while on camera. yea with Jack Drees announcing but i know Brickhouse and WGN would do Sox games to. I was born in Dec 57.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 03:45 PM) Born in '63 so not quite old enough, but I remember Harry doing Falstaff commercials (and seemingly drinking half the brewery). I remember the Hamm's commercials more during Cubs games. (My Dad hated the Sox, so we watched more Cubs games when I was a kid. He called Comiskey Park "that boneyard", as in "I'll never take you to that boneyard!" lol) Yea i was probably watching the cubs games too since they were on wgn but so were the sox and they might have run them during the bears games too.

QUOTE(G&T @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 03:31 PM) Actually they would be 58 if I'm not mistaken. 18 year old drinking age? right? I was thinking 21 was the drinking age but since I was 10 i dont know what it was back in 68.
-
if you were old enough to drink in the 60's lets say that was 40 years ago that would make you at least 61 now. do we have any one that old posting on here ? I'm old but was just a kid about 10 in 1968. I do remember the Hamm's commercials with the bear. Hamm's the beer refreshing. Hamm's the beer refreshing. Hammmm's.

QUOTE(Linnwood @ Apr 3, 2008 -> 04:08 PM) At this rate, I wonder if the Tigers will. I'd much rather hear the announcers talking about the Tigers bad start than ours . So yay for todays win ! -

Alexei Ramirez to start at CF on Opening Day?
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to DaTank's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(lostfan @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 10:30 PM) This supports my position that Alexei, talented though he might be, did not really look like he had any business out there yet. If he should've been starting over anyone, it should've been Uribe. I think it just supports that CC is a great pitcher. I would've preferred to see Anderson in center but think Ramirez and Anderson will probably split time in center. Weather Ramirez can make the jump to the major leagues and be successful will not be discovered in one game against a quality pitcher. As far as starting over Uribe, 2b base is arguably the position which he is the least adept. But again we might see him there at times depending on the match up. We're going to be seeing a lot of mixing and matching with Uribe , Ramirez , Anderson and Quentin which is fine by me. You don't produce you sit or get sent down. -

QUOTE(lostfan @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 04:48 PM) I hope that's what it was. Cuz he looked like .5 seconds too late on every fastball, and it'd either blow past his bat, or he'd just stand there. You have to remember CC wasn't just throwing fastballs to Ramirez . He was setting him up with the changeup. CC didn't win the CY for nothing. He's a helluva pitcher not just a flamethrower. He K'd Ramirez on one AB with a perfect pitch (fastball) on the outside corner the ARAM swung and missed but most hitters would've just went down looking at that pitch.
