Adkins is up because he fills a specific role which is innings eater in blowout or injury situations in order to let guys like Viz,Cotts, Politte, and Marte pitch an inning then get out. Everyone better start realizing this is how a smart team prepares for the post season. When pitching is your strength , you better keep your arms fresh. The Sox will only go as far as their pitching takes them.

If Frank retires I would be shocked. He knows he can still hit. That lower leg area was like a toothpick. If he can build muscle to better support the bone structure while rehabbing I definitely see him giving it another shot.

I guess if its not in green some people don't get the sarcasm. Even if it wasnt in green and there wasnt a 2nd paragraph near the bottom of the post I still don't see how anyone could think Sonik was serious.

It's still a little too early to try that, but I like the idea. If the Sox still have a 10+ game lead on Minnesota after August 20th I think its worth a shot , especially if the offense is still impotent. I'd keep him in the 2 hole but let him swing more how he wants to instead of moving him around in the batting order. He's a smart hitter , I doubt he'd try to pull too many with Pods in scoring position.

If the Sox can start the 2nd half like they started the 1st half the they could very well win the division by 20 games.

Jon has no history of arm problems and is entering prime pitching years. If the Sox are serious about all this "family stuff" (i.e. coaches who are all ex -sox) then prove it and give Garland and for that matter Buehrle 5 yr deals.
