  1. Even riskier for the new team to give up prospects , give him an extension and then risk it all in one post season. Youre risking your prospect capital , the health of the guy you just gave up prospects for and $100M or so in the extension. We really don't know what Crochet would want in an extension. Anyone dealing with him would be wise to wait. Crochet still has to prove he's healthy and TOR guy for 2 more years. Maybe only the Dodgers would be willing to trade for him now. They might be the only team who keeps him on a starter's schedule, use him as an opener ,then asks him to ramp up for a start or 2 heading into the playoffs. If Crochet is healthy and feeling fine I think he'd pitch in the post season without more money. He's a competitor and would want a shot at a ring.
  2. What makes you think Heyman knows the plan ? What we should be asking ourselves is was that 74 pitch outing yesterday because of protecting him for a trade or a new pitch limit to lower his usage in the event he isn't traded. We may never know.
  3. Thats been brought up before. It isn't new.I t was dumb then and it's dumb now. They're basically saying Crochet ,if he makes it to the post season healthy ,will refuse to pitch unless he gets an extension. How could they even know that. Can they talk to Crochet's agent ? Also why would the team trading for him want a physically max out at that point, pitcher risking his health in the post seaon when he's still got 2 more years ? They're saying Crochet would be willing to jeopardize his whole career i he got an extension , a big one presumably. That would be a huge financial risk for 1 post season from a guy who may not physically be up to it.
  4. This is also a great read. A lot of it is a repeat from the video but what it has that the video doesnt is Bannister's insight on 3rd round pick Blake Larson, 11th round pick Blake Shepardson and 17th round pick and 2 way player Lyle Miller-Green.
  5. If you ever want to educate yourself on pitcher development and how the Sox are handling Crochet, Cannon, Schultz,Kopech and other pitchers , this is a great listen. Crochet made some crucial changes this year working with Katz and Bannister. This was posted earlier as part of a larger video. This it the exact interview from beginning to end without having to find it in the longer video.
  6. I said no more than 75 pitches tonight and Crochet taken out at 74.
  7. You just acted like you found it hard to believe others can be optimistic. Also just for the record I'm not optimistic. I've said a few times that JR must be up to something to be crying so poor on the Sox. I'm no expert in high end real estate deals but to my untrained eye it appears JR has been robbing Peter ( The Sox) to pay Paul ( West Side Development plan around the UC. I'm also not a masochist. I can watch bad players be bad players and not act like I expected them to be anything but bad.
  8. So you're saying you can't believe people are all different and some don't think the White Sox are worth being upset about ? Life's a lot more enjoyable when you're not a grumpy old man in your 30s already.
  9. I knew it . I've been saying JR is up to something and that's why he's skimping on the Sox. Wirtz's better watch their backs.
  10. No he doesn't. Every team knows he won't be able to keep having starts like that. Throwing deep into the game tonight won't change that. Every pitch throws is a risk. He gets hit with a line drive or needs to cover home on a bang bang play is just asking for a disaster to screw up the trade. Yesterday watching Robert try to score on a pitch that got away made all Sox fans watching cringe when he collided with the pitcher.
  11. Probably goes 5 innings or 75 pitches max .That's my guess for tonight. I don't care how desperate they are for a win ,Crochet should go 5 or less .
  12. I do have sympathy for him.How much money he makes is of no consequence. Can't be bitter about everything Sox related. Just throw my hands and say nothing I can do about it. No doubt he wanted the job but hard to judge the competence of anyone without keeping in mind his many restrictions. He been mostly dealing with fringe players so far and GMs who knows JR is just cutting expenses to make the team sellable for his heirs. He's going to have to sift through a lot of bad offers and I expect he'll be getting some pretty weak offers filled with pitchers and 1st base DH types right up until the last day or 2.
  13. It's not a great time to get position player prospects .Everyone is prospect hugging and overvaluing them . Not only that but other GMs know Getz is operating under an owner crying poor and still wanting payroll slashed more. He's not in a very enviable position.
  14. Fedde should bring 2 real legit prospects .One for each year and at least one other piece. He's not flashy but right now I'd consider him to be top 25 starting pitcher in baseball. Doesn't he have just as much if not more bWAR as Crochet? I legit think Crochet and Robert are overvalue by our desperate fans for high quality position player prospects but are under valuing Fedde. It's very much about about how you are performing right now and Fedde is near the top of that list.
  15. Resting him because of expected soreness according to Grifol . Not considered a setback . They wanted to push him and they did and it didn't work. Guessing he won't be back on the Sox till after the TDL.
  16. Why watching Game Day.Game was televised on MLB .TV app free .
  17. Personal opinion is Francona is done.
  18. People have been predicting he'd be fired since last season. They'll make trades with Grifols input then fire him. It's the RH /KW trick.
  19. If JR is calling the shots yes. Getz can always pretend teams wouldn't bite. But if he's fired you never know if he pissed JR off . You want Crochet then eat Beni's remaining salary and give us a DSL SS .
  20. Because guys with better stuff cost more. Basically every acquisition was a project including Fedde. If anyone else truly thought Fedde would be any good he wouldn't have signed with the Sox.
  21. The only train wreck that keeps rolling is the Sox.
