CWS Acquire Reliever Cam Booser from BOS
Austin Slater ,part of the Sox projected RF platoon for 2025 along with Mike Tauchman. He's RH has solid career numbers OBP and OPS against LHP. Just turned 32. So weak side of the platoon and LH PH and 4th OF since he can play CF too. Late inning defensive replacement OF .

Birmingham Pitching Coach John Ely says Schultz grew 1.5 inches.
Yes that was weird like KW had a 2 team or 2 player trade exemption where he didn't have to talk to Hahn about it with the Marlins and 1 other team I forget. I thought McGuff was kidding because it sounded so odd. One name we didn't hear him talk about was Peyton Pallette. That guy went from a zero to a hero . 7 ERA as a starting pitcher in 12 starts going only 44 innings. Then a 1 ERA in 45 innings as a relief pitcher. Not 1.9 but 1.01. That's another guy who could make an impact or at least get a shot in Spring Training. He wasn't promoted to AAA so he could end up there because he's 23 so younger than Coffey and Schoenle. That's a decent amount of innings he pitched.

Plus you can't overlook what he did when he came up. The BP sucked like really sucked. If you think having a worse record than 2024 is possible maybe improve the bullpen ,get a hold of some decent arms and have some competition for some spots with guys who can throw strikes.

Draft Kings sets Sox O/U at 49.5 wins
And that's reasonable, we've always agreed who was responsible for most of the debacles but in the meantime Getz is getting his shot at implementing structural changes because compared to players salaries those things are relatively cheap. I don't have much hope that the Sox can make the playoffs soon but time is ticking on the Jerry Reinsdorf regime. Best not to expect miracles. We got our once in 100+ years miracle in 2005 .It takes things we usually don't get to get another one. So I just like to see some year to year progress until JR shakes hands with Father Time.

That response made no sense whatsoever. It didn't even remotely respond to anything I said. Everyone in this thread is now dumber from reading your response . I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.

Nope it's all the same as before until it isn't.Dont expect much fall in line with the naysayers. No specifics on how these new changes are just like the old ways because it can't be quantified. Bannister is all over podcasts talking about all aspects of what was done with Crochet and who he thinks deserves credit for how it all turned out but hey he's Don Cooper I've seen Bannister on so many podcasts . I just watched another one on the Baseball Isn't Boring podcast sounding eloquent about pitching as usual.

Sure but what did you expect ? Like I said it could just be the difference in attitude about certain players. No one here can predict development. Where you see red flags someone else watched a podcast with a coach talking about how the guy had developed and it changes from year to year which may sway him more than some dude on Soxtalk . He give his opinion you disagree and on and on its goes. Everyone reads what's going on differently .The only difference is if you can present your ideas without laughing or getting snarky at opposing views. That doesn't happen a lot around here because it takes time and length to explain and communicate. So people would rather say how can you think that ? Are you crazy ? There's not a lot of real baseball talk here. It's all pretty much biased by how badly you hate all things White Sox right now.

I will never get why you think anyone is mad. You just said you're shitty and I agree . I'm not mad you feel so shitty. I want good things for the Sox .Apparently you like wallowing in it.

Don't you want the team to improve ? I don't understand what you want that's any different than me ? If a 15 game improvement doesn't make u feel any better what can happen in 2025 that will ?

Draft Kings sets Sox O/U at 49.5 wins
Nah as much as I appreciate you Lip I'll be fine with a 15 game improvement in 2025 and 1 year closer to what you think will happen ( which is the most likely scenario).

Roki Sasaki Free Agency - Dodgers vs Blue Jays for Roki's heart
Getz : Me and Banny need to go to LA boss. JR: What for ? Getz: To try to get Roki Sasaki to sign with us . JR: Can you watchamacallit..? Oh yeah video chat, that's pretty cool isn't it ? Getz : No boss he wants face to face. But yeah video chat is cool.

Roki Sasaki Free Agency - Dodgers vs Blue Jays for Roki's heart
The odds are still very low unless he really just wants to pitch in relative obscurity. But I always thought the Sox had more of a chance than the Sox have no shot at all crowd even if they are the ones likely to be right.

Basically there's a subset here that refuses to see anything good. Even if they see it like a good amount of pitching prospects and a top 5 system they refuse to talk about it. It's like I've been hurt and I'll never love again. We usually find those people just as annoying as eternally optimistic people, maybe moreso except they formed themselves as the Soxtalk cool kids . Now it's cool to be a Sox Goth because it's the majority. We can accuse anyone optimistic of being Getz lovers . OMG the stigma is devastating. Only there are no eternally optimistic people here. There's just the Sox Goths and those who choose to see some good. It might not get us to the playoffs soon but I've rooted for the Sox all my life as have many of you when they weren't making the playoffs so it's not much different to me. You either make the playoffs or you don't. Here we're the tree in the forest that no one hears fall.

When are we allowed to be happy ? I would think a 15 game improvement would mean quite a few of the young pitchers showed great progress as well as some of the hitters which would bode well for 2026 with our 2 best pitching prospects on the way.

Hopes and dreams is all we got. Youre asking people to predict the future this season of guys who barely played at all last year, underperformers or rookies . Yeah Sean Burke could be a thing, Meidroth, Sosa , Vargas, Colson Montgomery, Teel ,Quero ,Thorpe, Cannon, Coffey,Schonele,Ramos, Baldwin. You never know who can break out. So what else can you do with young players but hope and dream . That's what rebuild is all about hoping and dreaming of a better future and baby steps forward. A lot of minor league Sox pitching prospects made big steps forward. Birmingham graduated quite a few of them and they still won the Southern League championship. We're going to see some pretty live arms in the next few years. Iriarte, Adams,Bush, Coffey. Garrett Schonele went from an aging nobody in AA in 2023 with a 6+ ERA to a 1.64 ERA and .94 WHIP in 2024 in 55 AA innings and 70 innings overall. He's 26 and LH. Hits 95 . Throws strikes. He needs to get a shot in the BP with Adisyn Coffey. We'll get to see how Hagen Smith, Noah Schultz,Braden Montgomery, George Wolcow, Grant Taylor, Caleb Bonemer and other draft picks look as they work their way up.

However in a projection system for 2025 with a better bullpen, hitting and defense with Crochet the over/under probably is higher. They know Crochet is gone when they made it 49.5 .

Explaining why isn't going to change your mind. It might just be the difference between optimism and pessimism. You can't be a coach or player with a defeatist attitude .I'd like to think there will be great progress among many of the pitchers and some of the hitters.

You would be in the minority around here but I'll hang with you.

Colson Montgomery - How long until he proves he is a MLB shortstop?
I.also heard someone, maybe a coach or front office guy say on a podcast that he had some cut on a hand that wasn't healing right because he was playing through it . Don't know if it's a baseball injury or kitchen accident. I think he'll be good too. I don't see much sense in thinking Montgomery won't succeed . He's the Sox SS probably for most of this season and beyond.

It's in Pale Hose Talk right on the front page. I just posted it a couple hours ago. I guess Noah Schultz growing 1.5 inches so he's now 6'10.5" was not the click bait I thought it was. 🤣

As far as Sosa goes why not SS ? He tearing up the Domincan winter league and playing SS there I think or why not 2nd base ? I think it's too early to give up on him at SS, 2nd ,or even 3rd base. The Sox need hitters and maybe Montgomery comes up to play SS or even starts the season there. Let there be a Battle Royale between Montgomery, Elko, Baldwin, Vargas, Vaughn, Sosa for 3rd, SS,2nd and 1st. Rotate them all at DH too. Work on their D too and see if anyone can stand out. Obviously Montgomery will be given preference and probably Vaughn too being the incumbent but every single one of them besides Elko needs the MLB ABs now. Let some of these guys try to earn some extra money with pre arbitration WAR awards. Sox have only had Cease qualify for it in 3 years. I think the Tigers , Diamondbacks and Orioles have had 7 or more in the 3 years since the new CBA. Edit : Wow I forgot about Meidroth . Lots of people think he can be the OD 2nd baseman.Lots of competition.

I'd like to see Elko get a real shot at it. Unfortunately we kept Vaughn. John Ely says Elko can really pick it at 1st and saved a lot of throwing errors.
