Could Getz Have an Actual Master Plan?
- Sox Sign James Karinchak to minor league deal, NRI
What part of not spending legit money don't u understand ?- 24-25 NFL Thread
NFL commercial with Matthew McConaughey practicing his Ditka in front of a mirror with the sweater ,dark hair and 'stache was good.- Sox Sign James Karinchak to minor league deal, NRI
Like who needs to establish themselves and who would he be blocking ? NRI's rarely make the ML team out of spring training especially a guy barely pitched last year who never really overcame his control problem but had nasty K ability at the expense of his control and shoulder. They don't seem like they are in any hurry to add a bunch of young guys to the 40 just yet. If they can flip 4 older relief pitchers at the deadline they'll do it. Which ones get the shot I have no idea. It's going to be a revolving door. You pitch well, you stick, if not , try someone else. If Robert fails in the 1st half getting much of anything at the TDL will be difficult .If you add a bunch of young relief pitchers to the 40 or 26 and they succeed you won't want to trade them . You want to trade the older ones you're picking up off the scrap heap. Maybe you can get a DSL SS .- Soxfest back for 2025
Lots of pictures .Thanks- White Sox considering Rojas, Meidroth at SS
Except Meidroth actually had a very good year at AAA whereas Montgomery did not and appears to be more ready. Sometimes it's hard to know what you are arguing. If we were all saying Montgomery should get the 1st chance at SS you'd be saying he was forced up and playing out of position . If Rojas gets PT you think he's blocking someone and he's not good at SS . I'd like to know what u think about who should play where and when ,not just taking shots are our feeble attempts to figure out who's going to play where and when. It's easy to be right when you say this won't work when you have a bunch of young guys who all have flaws who all play multiple positions and, as of yet ,we have no idea who'll be able to hit. Take your best guess like the rest of us.- White Sox considering Rojas, Meidroth at SS
Seriously. He's doing his famous I'll put quotes around stuff I made up to make it look like I'm quoting someone in the Sox front office. There were a lot of people in Soxtalk at the time who were madly in love with Vaughn and wanted him to get PT no matter what and were really angry with me for suggesting just because he played an adequate LF in a limited sample size that he will eventually be exposed because he couldn't run and that he didn't need to be in the lineup as much as he was especially against RHP early in the season that 1st year. I don't know if him playing 1st base in the minors more would've helped him or not. It's not like the Sox have been known to find ways to improve many prospects hitting abilities nor defense for that matter. Maybe they just draft poorly but again hitting a baseball consistently well is still the hardest thing in sports. You need a discerning eye and to somehow control your quick twitch impulses or natural ability that got you very far to begin with but make u swing at hard breaking stuff that ends up out of the zone and makes you look stupid and has fans screaming why is he swinging at that ? Especially when many times when you're behind in a count and you're telling yourself , here it comes down and away , and they still whiff at it. Robert, Jr. still goes through long droughts where he looks like an A baller trying to hit MLB pitching with no pitch or count recognition or cognitive thinking.- White Sox considering Rojas, Meidroth at SS
I saw an interview with McGuffey. He looked like a giant next to McGuffey.- White Sox considering Rojas, Meidroth at SS
We're not talking about a lifetime here Caulfield.we're talking about to open the season . Right now there aren't any quick fixes if you're trying to pin the position on someone permanently. If Montgomery starts the season in minors your options are Meidroth, Baldwin, Rojas and maybe Sosa. Pick your poison. I'm taking Meidroth because the guy knows how to get on base so I'm expecting him to open the season at SS leading off unless the Sox are facing a LHP. Then maybe Baldwin unless he's not on the OD 26. Who makes the 26 is also a bone of contention. Total mystery . I'm not sure a one of us can predict the OD infield unless we know who the SP pitcher is going to be and even then it's a crap shoot ..- White Sox considering Rojas, Meidroth at SS
I'm certainly not banking on anyone. That's why almost all these guys play multiple positions. Sosa's minor league history shows a pattern of starting off levels slow and then adjusting. Of course in the minors he got consistent playing time necessary to adjust.Since MLB is the highest level in the world and playing time needs to be earned and not just given he took longer to adjust. That's the theory I'm going with. When the whole team can't hit their way out of a paper bag you look for any signs of life you can unless you prefer to live in utter despair as a fan.- White Sox considering Rojas, Meidroth at SS
But you can't just dismiss Sosa. Logically he should get the 1st shot at 2nd with Meidroth at SS even though he'd have to be added to the roster. If Vargas had a last month like Sosa I'd be a lot happier about him too. Hitting MLB pitching isn't easy .Hitting across the league was down significantly in 2024. Plus you don't have as many late season pitching call-ups skewing late season offensive numbers as you once did.- White Sox considering Rojas, Meidroth at SS
While I try not to take guesses among the mishmash of candidates from 3rd through 1st on the infield I think Sosa gets 1st shot at 2nd base just because he may be the most likely to hit MLB pitching just by late season hitting and off season hitting in Venezuela and he's out of options ,which is about as useful as Colson Montgomery's AFL stats. But it's better than sucking. There's so many guys I want to see do well but they need to step up.- 2025-2026 NHL Threadard
Crevier with a goal .3-1 now. Hawks carrying the play in the 2nd period ,most offensive control 5 on 5 than I've seen this season without Hall or Seth Jones who was held out for "sickness". Del Mastro has looked very good too in the 2nd. Primary assist on the Nasr goal was Bedard. Kids having a good game with half the game to go.- 2025-2026 NHL Threadard
No because theirs is not offensive and they get support from and acknowledge Native Americans. Their Blackhawk head is more a historical acknowledgement of a Tribe of significance in the Chicago area.- 2025-2026 NHL Threadard
Holy Moly still no thread for this Blackhawks or NHL season. Looks like Taylor Hall is gone in a 3 team trade that's sending Mikko Rantanen to the Canes. Hawks could get a 3rd round draft pick. Found out during the 1st period intermission against the Lighting. Hawks lead 2-1 on goals by Nasr and Colton Dachs very 1st NHL goal !- White Sox considering Rojas, Meidroth at SS
Yes I'm fine. I moved out of Altadena where I lived for 15 years, 7 years ago to Pasadena maybe 3 miles away from the fires in Altadena. I knew people whose houses burned down as did my old Apt. building , my old job site and the grocery store I still shopped at. Thank you for asking. On the baseball side I'm not worried that Rojas will see more time at SS than anyone. Anyone of 5 guys if you dare to count Sosa among the shortstops could be the OD SS . Who gets the bulk of time at SS is anyone's guess . Meidroth seems the most ready but is not a true SS but neither is anyone else they have. While you accuse the Sox you're the one who omitted Meidroth from your SS candidates and it was the Sox who in the press conference included him.- White Sox considering Rojas, Meidroth at SS
I'm assuming you think he's the shiny toy best suited to make Getz look good as your no baseball reason ? I would take you up on that bet for baseball reasons. Getz has nothing to gain by Colson being the Opening Day SS. That's a 1 day thing. Now if Colson becomes a future All Star having control of him for an extra year is more valuable to the Sox . Another baseball reason would be Chase Meidroth was named by Baseball America as the AAA All Star SS. If the opposing OD pitcher is RH Meidroth did especially well against RHP in 2024 in AAA with a .304 .457 .430 slash line the simple math says that's an .887 OPS. Meidroth had a much better AAA season than Montgomery did. Montgomery needs to prove he's MLB ready by producing at AAA.- White Sox considering Rojas, Meidroth at SS
You missed Meidroth in the title ?- Cubs get Michael Busch, Yency Almonte
I'm actually surprised ( not really) that you took this stance since it was already apparent by 1/11/24 that they weren't going to have any budget for B and C Free Agents coming off that 101 losses. By the time you wrote this I was posting anyone who believed this wasn't another rebuild was not paying attention and you do seem normally to be well informed. I haven't read the last posts in this thread to see why it was revived yet but found your post interesting.- Anthony Santander signs with TOR 5/$92.5
I'd give Schultz a decent chance . But I can understand not being the #1 guy that soon. They'll still likely be handling him delicately. Hope he and Hagen Smith both are healthy and lights out this year, along with the Montgomery Twins. Then things will start to heat up .- Vaughn and Sox avoid arbitration: $5.85 million
Not sure if you're being intentionally obtuse but since you asked. Peanut gallery = cheap seats = hecklers more likely than the average ticket buyer to be booing everything. That is you all the time whereas I boo, well, less than you. We will end up booing the same things once in a while.- Vaughn and Sox avoid arbitration: $5.85 million
I'll just counter about the HR and RBI totals boosting the arb money level with a little extra . I think that when the team you' re on is giving you a significant amount of AB and you are playing a lot of games and your career has been pretty much the same every year that indicates that you have value to the team or else they wouldn't play you so much. Just being a usable body for so many games and uninjured playing time year to year entitles you to a yearly incremental raise . It's like well we can't find anyone better for less out there so might as well keep paying you and keep hoping this is the year you do slightly better. That's where being a high draft pick comes in, keeping you around for that elusive upside in your prime years. Plus replacement cost is likely to be the same if you're looking for the same number of games no matter who you find to replace him if you pick among players with just as many or more years in the league. Most of us wanted to see him gone but on a team starved for HRs he's the grass isn't always greener or better the devil you know than the devil you don't choice.- Could Getz Have an Actual Master Plan?
He basically did a " That's so gay " workaround, saying it without actually saying it. There were ad campaigns against that stuff 16 years ago by Hillary Duff and Wanda Sykes. It's grade school tactics using it as a negative connotation. Maybe you should try to get with the times. You seem to be the only one who thought it was funny judging by your emoji on the post. It's actually good positive baseball discussion that people can voice that they see a smidgeon of light at the end of the tunnel in the near term for the long term health of the organization . And there are quite a few of us judging by the positive responses to @Timmy U post. If anyone wants to try to put their grade school ,bullying, out of date sophomoric humor boot to that positivity then figure out another way to do it.- Could Getz Have an Actual Master Plan?
Are you Robin and he's Batman to you ? And how you came up with me thinking he was calling Getz gay is the dumbest thing I ever heard. JzFC it's pretty plain what I said.- Could Getz Have an Actual Master Plan?
Classy. The master baiter himself now says if you say anything positive about Getz you're a homosexual. Not sure if thats homophobia or just his normal bullying tactics . Why don't you just s*** his d*** while you're at it . We know that's what you meant. - Sox Sign James Karinchak to minor league deal, NRI
