8/21- Sox at Giants, 2:45
Must have hit a nerve. If you love something and I assume we all love the Sox since we all continue to post here we should know we have no influence over what happens to the team. I focus on the bad many times. I just focus it where I think it belongs which is JR. But I can also, since I love the Sox, see some good things and am only reminding people that it's not ALL bad . There are reasons why most of you don't post in the Future Sox section of this board. They discourage the toxicity of Pale Hose talk there . They purposefully try to keep people letting the prospect route take it's course through it's ups and downs without scathing criticism.

8/20 Game Thread: White Sox vs. Giants - 8:45 CT;
Pretty doubtful anyone offered top 100 guys or even if they did the rest of the offer fell short. We've heard the Dodgers wouldn't even offer Rushing for Crochet. During the recent draft I was really torn between wanting Cags but thinking they might take Smith. I posted that the Sox might not get any true high level prospect offers except for perhaps pitchers, catchers and 1st base types. This line of thought held true when the rest of the contenders decided to follow Baltimore's lead and cling to their best prospects. I think they passed on Cags thinking they could get a left handed power 1st base bat in trades for Robert and Crochet if it came to that . But prioritizing 1st base in the draft probably wasn't their goal especially knowing Bannister may be the best hire they've had in years. Turns out no one offered enough to snag Robert or Crochet and the Fedde, Kopech ,Pham trade was just asinine . 3 guys who instantly got put in important roles for the Dodgers and Cards plus Edman now playing CF for the Dodgers equals both teams getting 2 MLB pieces each with Fedde, Kopech and Edman each having an extra year of control and somehow the Cards gave the Sox nothing.

Reinsdorf keeps "failing" the White Sox...
It is not 2005 any more. 2005 only reinforced JRs thinking that some moves that turned into gold is possible when in reality it couldn't be sustained even the very next year.

Reinsdorf keeps "failing" the White Sox...
I never said both can't be true but replacing Getz with someone else equally not suited for the job doesn't accomplish anything . And you know that's what would happen.

I know it was an odd time for a game mid week but you can't deny that winning game threads are shorter than losing ones most of the time. Praise doesn't come easy to people especially when it's so much easier to just go with the flow.

Sees short game thread. Knows Sox won instantly. Not a single mention of Crochet.

I never said Getz was any good at his job. Fire him, fine another Reinsdorf lackey takes over. You're not exactly offering any solutions. It's telling that teams weren't offering higher ranked prospects. It's like they all decided we'll take our chances at winning a Championship with what we have already or just improving our depth. When you're forced to operate on the fringes you're not going to hit a bunch of HRs trading for unwanted prospects while giving up your own unwanted prospects. He's just been shuffling the pieces on the checkers board. I don't think he's caused a lot of damage because he was never allowed to do much. I thought the Fedde,Pham, Kopech trade was bad too. I mean ok keep going on and on about the pawns I guess while the King is still on the throne. My narrative is always about the big picture. Reinsdorf is just deflecting attention away from himself because most fans are going to do just what he thinks they will do and concentrate their ire on the players, manager and GM. It's really amazing that as Sox fans we can't point to any part of the organization that has done anything well consistently during JRs reign. The only thing most people point to is Bannister and a couple handfuls worth of promising pitching depth which has bumped our farm system to 3rd according to Fangraphs ,11th by MLB Pipeline . It's going to be a long bumpy ride likes it's always been when the only thing JR has put any money into is the 25/26 man payroll without the infrastructure to create sound decision making. Now he won't even be doing that either.

Kind of a strange statement for a 1st year GM who endured a $55M payroll slash from a notoriously frugal , meddling, no interest in building an infrastructure, unwilling to sell so his heirs aren't hit with higher taxes upon his death, who thinks the Sox are unable to compete at their current location owner who's been doing the same s%*# for his entire tenure of 40+ years .

White Sox @ Giants: 8:45 Central Time Start
So much for that😂

White Sox @ Giants: 8:45 Central Time Start
Not expecting a 1 run lead to hold up but I'd like to see it last this inning at least.

Cannon doing Cannon things. He's got a real good idea how to pitch.
-
Fletcher leading RF in DRS
Yes you probable need to not dumpster dive to achieve some more quality defensive players who actually can provide any hitting skills too. He wasn't going to accomplish much anyway you sliced it this year

Simple fixes are the best things to try 1st.

White Sox @ Giants: 8:45 Central Time Start
Typical Sox runners in scoring position with no outs nets nothing. One of the many reasons they suck.

White Sox MLBs 1st eliminated team
It was just a formality that's been around since winter. And anyone with eyes saw it coming.

White Sox MLBs 1st eliminated team
What your definition of competitive ? I think they could put together a pretty good group of young starting pitchers between Cannon, Bush, Thorpe, Schultz, Smith, Martin, Iriarte, Mason Adams and Grant Taylor. That's 10 guys who could form a decent starting pitching and BP core. There of course will be injuries and disappointments like with any groups of prospects but If I squint I can see .500 in 2 or 3 years just because good pitching can get you there faster. The Sox can't hit, field or relief pitch . That worst in history record could still have been around 100 losses instead of 120 with just a tiny bit more hitting and less late innings disasters. The thing is though it'll take a miracle because there aren't a lot of sharp tools in the shed and JR makes sure of that because he'd rather win his way than just risk financial ruin for his heirs now .

Foster to AAA, De Los Santos Up (for some reason)
I think some some of these guys are lab rats ,like you hear how Davis Martin picked up that change up quickly. It's not usually that fast and easy to make changes that could change the projectory of your career. Bannister is like Dr Frankenstein.

Beckham hints Pedro too overbearing
Extremely succinct and to the point ! 👍

Beckham hints Pedro too overbearing
Plus it's easy to make fun of people you perceive at being outcasts. Brings out the bully when everyone gets to do it to everything White Sox. Most fans are not as vindictive nor care enough to hate so intensively.

8/17 Sox @ Stros 6:10PM
Perfect example of what makes bad players bad and good players good. Not only is it the physical tools that are less but also the mental part of the game. Now things might've turned out slightly different if the ump had called an obvious strike a strike and called Altuve out but things spiraled after that. ALtuve gets a 2nd life ,gets a 2 RBI hits while the Stros broadcasters say it didnt look like Robert went after the ball that hard to try to prevent the runner on 2nd from scoring. Then Alvarez down 0-2 and Altuve thinks oh the next pitch might be in the dirt I'll take off if it is. He does and Robinson seems shocked. He blocked the pitch but it wasn't like he sprung out of his crouch . He casually went after it .Next pitch Flexen isn't holding Altuve at 2nd so he steals third. This is a guy who has never taken his talent for granted. He thinks, he hustles. So now the infield comes in with him on 3rd and Alvarez dumps an RBI single that likely would've been caught if the infield was back.

Sox claim De Los Santos, IL Wilson, recall Varland
And you have tunnel vision. No broader perspective. I just don't understand what you expected this year. This year was always going to be very bad. From early in January we could see what was going on. If you were a fireman and I stuck you in the center of a raging forest fire of 1000 acres with just a shovel and you managed not to perish I guess I could say you were bad at your job.

Sox claim De Los Santos, IL Wilson, recall Varland
? Wow a disaster really ? Like tsunami disaster or what would you compare it to. So they got a MLB relief pitcher who has been hurt a lot this year but has 3 more years to be as good if not better than he has in the past. But every chance a few of you get to rub the current state of affairs in everyone's face you do it.
-
Robert
Why though ? Everything happening is just the way Crochet wants it. Getz' pitcher wants to pitch. It's his job to pitch.Youre paying him to pitch. He can still throw 99 when he wants to. Maybe him getting hurt again is inevitable or maybe it's not. If he does it's because of his own choices.
-
Robert
Fucked it up ?They made him a star pitcher. He literally didn't want to be traded because he was already in a good situation doing exactly what he wanted to do. He had no guarantees another team would treat him like the White Sox. He wanted to make sure he wasn't used as a relief pitcher or forced to pitch too many innings, moves he thought might be career threatening. Of course it blindsided the Sox but if he is going to blow out his arm again he preferred to do it his way.
