Makes no sense to argue otherwise since I don't really think any manager could've done much better with the team he inherited. If anyone thinks the Sox could've won 70 games last year with a different manager more power to them. They still would've been terrible.

This was my stance . I was quite the proponent of building him up very slowly in the minors because of his injury history. However I will not get angry if he gets injured doing it their way like I did when they pitched Rodon into the ground in an important year where they would need him in the playoffs. Whatever the Sox plan is with Crochet, Crochet seems to be fine with it. He always wanted to be a starting pitcher and he's going for it full steam ahead. Let him be the master of his own destiny. If his arm doesn't last it probably wouldn't have lasted no matter what approach they took. I was actually happy that they put him on a starters schedule and an every 5th day routine. I didn't think he'd be capable of pitching 6 innings until July or August if he lasted that long. It wasn't how I proposed they do it but hey it's not my job or my career. There's no real good reason to be angry just because Crochet is way ahead of schedule on a plan I thought was cautious and prudent. That doesn't mean they are throwing caution to the wind without regard for Crochet's health. If Crochet is cool with it so am I.

People just wanted a win. So did, I but I refuse to beat the dead horse. They were in the game. They will win some low scoring games but undoubtedly lose more than they win.

It is possible to have higher hopes while still objectively knowing the Sox will still be pretty bad. I hope Fedde and Soroka pitch well enough in the 1st half to get some prospects at the deadline. I hope Crochet stays healthy. Same for Kopech and that he can find some command and get back in the starting rotation. I hope they find some hidden gem relief pitchers and trade the ones who we don't have a lot of years of control. I hope every single position player does better than expected and then they get traded. I hope a lot of the youngsters on the 40 and in the lower minors have tremendous seasons. I realize the team overall doesn't have nearly enough talent to avoid 90+ losses but if some of the hopes comes to fruition then it's a positive step forward that I hope JR doesn't automatically squash with whatever is up his sleeve, He is the biggest obstacle by far and where my hopes diminish .

Double the $8M at least . $8M for 2024. He's Arb 3 next year so if all goes well in SD he should get at least another $8 and more than likely more. So thats another $8M+ off the 2025 book . Barring any type of superstar like season from Moncada he'll also be off the books next year and possibly Eloy too. If Fedde is tradable at the deadline part of his 2024 $7.5M salary and all of his $7.5M for 2025 off the books too. Stay tuned it could be really ugly next year since attendanceand sponsorship is likely to be real bad this year .
