  1. Taking some pitches and being aware of the situation and how they are going to pitch you will get you ahead more often then not and getting you some pitches you can actually hit or take some walks. He doesn't have to hit his way off the island or be so aggressive anymore because he's going to end up looking terrible until he can make pitchers actually throw strikes. AT least Andrus took the 1st 2 pitches for balls until he started swinging at crap . But even at 2-1 he could've just said make him thrown 2 in a row in the zone.
  2. I can't see it with Colas either .Anybody who knows anything about how the Astros are pitching to the Sox and Colas knew he'd being getting cutters and sliders under his hands. I love Colas but where's the coaching telling him to not swing on the 1st pitch? Make this guy throw strikes. He probably hasn't thrown 2 pitches in a row in the zone yet .
  3. Can't confirm that it was bat only though and that's why you can challenge it. Has to be 100% wrong.
  4. Doesn't seem like a call you should be challenging here.
  5. I just don't understand how Colas doesn't know through a coach whispering in his ear before the AB or based on his previous AB's how to know how he will be pitched. Take the damn 1st pitch. If it's a ball take the 2nd pitch. Mae Garcia throw strikes !! i knew before the AB he was going to see crap down and in under his hands ! Why doesn't he ? Why isn't that being drilled into his head based on what we saw in the 1st inning.
  6. That's exactly what I mean with Colas . Too swing happy on non strikes . Take pitches !!
  7. Sox hitters have to start taking pitches even if it means taking 2 straight strikes. Let Garcia know outside the zone crap won't play even if it has up to this point. Yay YoYo !
  8. Eloy's problem (and others) is that he's so good going oppo that he won't take pitches away. Once he identifies the spin take it. The trouble is identifying it or at least thinking ahead with slider or cutter away and out thinking the pitcher. If he grooves a FB right down the middle for strike 3 than fine you sit but don't just flail away at those down and away cutters and sliders. Many hitters do this just like Bregman just did but if you're 80% sure it's coming have to take some of them. If you get aced on the outside corner so be it.
  9. In other news Sheets still can't hit on the road.
  10. HAH Fegan already told us why and some of us actually figured that out before we typed. I know you're just being facetious with your post though.
  11. I know you're not a big Vaughn fan. It might be more Vaughn physical maintenance since Vaughn had the recent back troubles but it's backed by the platoon advantage so there are legit reasons to have Sheets in there today. But I do think Vaughn being better and even perhaps much better in his 3rd year is one of the many keys to a much improved Sox team. Sheets has to be better too on the road and I'd be thrilled if that started tonight.
  12. Grandal and Vaughn's Greatest Hits ! Music to my ears !
  13. BP did pretty good. Better than Houston's any way and Houston is supposed to be a great BP.
  14. 1st ever win for Grifol. 1st ever hit for Colas. 1st ever save for Reylo.
  15. Same old SOx ! Beat the World Champs on the road and breaks a 10 season opening day winning streak of the Astros !
