I figured that's what you meant when Caulfield brought his name up but certain people can't figure that out and take a deeper look.

Can you anaylze Adolfo's numbers with Charlotte this year ? He seems to be another guy that the Menechino philosophy helps. I noticed how much he went to RF in the hot spring he had. After a slow start back in Charlotte his BA is now .300 which is unusual for him given his lifetime .251 mark. 3 HRs but 9 doubles so 12 of his 30 hits are extra bases which is pretty good but his GO/AO is a lot higher which in his case isn't a bad thing . Maybe the sample size is too small since it looks like he still K's a ton and I haven't been able to watch him play to see if he is actually not pulling the ball as much and hitting it the other way. I guess past and current spray charts help with that and not sure how readily available those things are for minor leagues.

You're like a heat seeking missile of negativity. Fathom tells you in the game thread he's been bad so you look it up and forget everything else about the player and the adjustments he's had to make in his life and all the baseball rust he's had to shake off and a recent injury he's coming back from.

Not only that but he hasn't played in 2 yrs. I think he's actually doing pretty good under the circumstances.

Which kind of why I responded to a post that said if he was with the Sox he'd be hitting .210. -

Because most of the fastballs are coming on the 1st pitch and Sox are taking the 1st pitches trying to do better getting on base. SO they are all caught in between . -
I never been a big fan of blaming coaches but even the eye test and Stone and Bennetti was telling me the team is making more contact and striking out less but the power is gone and the walks have vanished. If everything @reiks12 has posted doesn't convince you that a change is needed , nothing will. Lots of our hitters were young and impressionable when Menechino was hired and it's those guys that drive you crazy with the GB rates. It works fine for Tim and Luis Robert , guys with quick bats who can let the ball get deep on them. To an extent it's also working well with Vaughn since he's still in his MLB infancy and has looked a little better against RHP by going to RF. But you need guys who know how to wait for a pitch in their zone to pull and clobber it, not keep looking for outside pitches to put in play to the right side. The Sox aren't utilizing doubles and HR's down the lines. They've become a bunch of weak opposite field hitters. We could use a little lift and pull now. If the K rate goes up so be it. I'll take a truckload full of HR's and less double plays. All that contact hitting just means we keep hitting into the shifts on the ground and flying out to the deepest parts of the ball park or 60 % of the field.

LOL they didn't. But the Peter Schilling song Major Tom I think they play it in German too and Der Commissar. I would've included Nina Hagen singing the German version of White Punks on Dope in the soundtrack from 1978 . Might not have fit the time period but awesome by the Tubes and Nina Hagen did it justice singing it in German.

Atomic Blonde is spy thriller set when the Berlin Wall was about to be torn down and in Berlin. So the music from that era of rock had a lot of European club type new wave dance flavor and so they played a lot of early to late 80's stuff like New Order, Flock of Seagulls, Peter Schilling, Depeche Mode, Bowie, Nena, Siouxsie and the Banshees, After the Fire. So if you can stomach that type of music, of which some of it was played in German, which I had never heard before and you like Charlize Theron you'd probably like it.

The best movie soundtrack that went hand in hand with the movie is Baby Driver in my eyes. Also Atomic Blonde.

When things get heated between people and insults start flying about race or politics that's the reason. -
Trade Talk With Rick Hahn/Merkin
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I usually don't blame coaches. Even without a coach some of these guys should know that it's ok to experiment with a different stance, stride, bat plane or whatever. However, that being said , if Menechino is preaching contact and going oppo over everything else that's only going to work with guys like Vaughn, Tim , Robert and Abreu each of whom can also pull for power. Eloy is way too much oppo and CF who hasn't shown much proclivity to pull the ball for power unless you count barely left of center. I don't think he is very good at pulling his arms in to pull when necessary. He always wants to extend his arms and is way too vulnerable on inside pitches. -
Then he should go back on the IL and let Burger play.

Moncada still has a ton of swing and miss in his game. Don't think Robo umps will help him. He has to help himself. He just looks pitiful right now.
-
I just looked at Moncada's sprint speed and it's 37% meaning 63% of all MB players are above him. That's based on this year though and it's not like they have a big sample to measure. However I think the days of looking at him as a stolen base guy are long gone. I was hoping for a little bounce back for him this year. Maybe get the slugging % up to .450 but so far that looks remote.

Lots of hanging sliders and curves and he just kept on throwing them. Just throw the fastball and locate it as best you can and mix it the sliders and curves. Seems like he was breaking pitch dominant tonight.
-
Does it really matter ?
-
Sox could score a touchdown , extra point and kick a field goal and still be down by a field goal.
-
Is there a 13 run pool for a 1/2 game ?

Sousa looking like a one winged Kimbrel with his stance.
