  1. I'm not blaming Liam he's a great pitcher . He's going to give up runs every so often and hadn't given up an earned run in a while. I'm also not blaming LaRussa. I'm just being this:
  2. No, not a wrong choice because he's a very good pitcher but to me its like messing with someone hitting streak by pinch hitting them .
  3. Sure but he's been on a streak lately. You don't mess with a streak even if he's needed in a non save situation. Just let him keep doing what he does best.
  4. Hendricks pitches great in save situations lately so you mess with that by bringing him into a non save situation . Genius ! Cleveland rubbing it in, taking extra bases , stealing , telling the Sox we are better than you and we will prove it.
  5. You forgot a few things First of all he got a tired arm because he basically had not pitched the previous 2 years. In order throw innings you have to have build up endurance in your arm . Him not pitching much in the 2nd half was due to being tired due to lick of innings the previous 2 years. So he ends up throwing more inning in 2021 which builds up endurance to pitch more innings in 2022. This is how pitching works.
  6. Or maybe because he had faith in the Sox front office in the off season
  7. I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am, let's face it. Marlon Brando as Terry Malloy - On the Waterfront (1954)
  8. Would be shocked if the Giants traded him. Once again Rick Hahn's prowess as GM rears it's ugly head. No Qualifying Offer to Rodon.. check. No draft pick for Sox .. check. Makes it easier for another team to sign Rodon.. check. Sox don't sign Rodon... check. Giant's put innings pitched qualifier in his contract that he easily reaches but based on his medicals Hahn lets him walk ... check. Now that Rodon can be a FA next year Giants can get a draft pick for him when they undoubtedly will offer him a QO (barring a big injury) because Hahn thought he might accept the QO and Sox would be stuck with him ... check.
  9. Sox gonna Sox. White Sox and learning ha, good one !
  10. Well I knew he was having trouble on flyballs and I was watching the game and after the granny I saw Robert blinking his eyes and I thought somethings not right with him. Then next day after he walked they took him out of the game so I immediately thought vertigo and posted it in the game thread based on his fielding and the eye blinking. So then I looked for the replay on youtube. I'm no doctor but that's the 1st thing that popped into my head.
  11. That has to be pretty hard to do.
  12. That's part of the reason why in the game thread I was the 1st one to say vertigo. It might be exacerbated by him looking up while running and there was one moment in the dugout after the grand slam where Luis blinking eyes like he couldn't focus which seemed out of character for a guy who just hit a granny . It's from 36 second through 40 second mark in the video.
  13. Man oh man the Sox players are always finding new ways to be IL'd . Sure hope La Pantera receives quality medical care for his ailment and is back ASAP.
  14. Trainer . He's a beast ! That guy knows how to keep his legs in shape !
  15. AGreed taking away our top young pitcher and 1 of our 2 best young hitters just negates the advantage of getting Soto and increases the payroll significantly through what Soto will be getting in arbitration.

  17. This what WhiteSoxDave said about the DM he got: "but it was from an agent at an agency that competes with Boras. I performed all my due diligence last night on him and he's legit. Long story short, he told me Conforto injured his shoulder doing something stupid at a bachelor party this offseason and that's why teams aren't lining up to acquire his services right now ." https://www.barstoolsports.com/blog/3411973/sounds-like-michael-conforto-hasnt-signed-because-he-allegedly-got-hurt-at-a-bachelor-party-this-winter
  18. He's talking about a tweet that said what the Nats are looking for and it included taking Patrick Corbin off the Nats hands. But we all know what they want and what they get might be 2 entirely different animals. Nats would have to eat a significant portion of Corbins salary because he's signed through as many years as Soto is.
  19. Martin Perez . He's lefty and a Astro's killer which is why I keep bringing him up . Rental for this year.
  20. All I know is that someone told WhiteSoxDave that he hurt it doing something stupid at a Bachelor Party and Boras said he hurt it diving for a ball while working out.
  21. I don't believe for a minute that the Sox could afford taking on Corbin even if the Nats eat half his salary. Do you know how much Soto is going to make in arbitration for 2023 and 2024 ? It could set arbitration salary records. If you take on half of Corbin's salary plus Soto's arb. salaries for those 2.5 years your looking at maybe $40+M per year for Soto + Corbin who is useless to a contending team. If Corbin is in a deal for Soto it will be to one of the big spending teams. But I think in the end Corbin won't be a part of any deal unless the Nats eat way more than half his salary. The Sox have huge hill to climb if they want to get Soto and not have his presence diminished by trading Vaughn or Kopech. This is why it won't happen. The Nats would have to be interested in Eloy and that's a huge obstacle too. I give Seattle , Yanks or Dodgers the best shots at getting Soto.
  22. Come on Bob those 3 names where just an example, he's knows that won't get it done because he followed it up by saying the entire farm for all he cared. The Sox do have talent to work with. Remember its not the rankings of minor leaguers so much as it is what their scouts think of the talent. To fans looking at the rankings in a trade makes it look prettier. But Montgomery is a fast riser who could be in the top 10 or close too it when the season ends and Colas could be in close to the top 50. Just just have to finish the season like they started it through their promotions to higher levels. So far its going great . That may or may not help the Sox in a major trade but it could.
  23. There are people in the thread who were advocating for Conforto at pretty big money before we all found out he was injured but have now lowered their expectation of what to pay him next year to maybe 2 yrs and $15M . So 7.5M per yr is fine. Trouble is Boras is still his agent and he'll come out and proclaim Conforto is in the best shape of his life and he may indeed ask for $15M a year. How much he actually gets and for how long is what GM's have to decide. He'll have a showcase and be hitting balls all over the place but really if any major leaguer that can't look great in a "showcase" he's finished. That's why these agents have showcases. We also can't forget that there was speculation that Conforto hurt himself partying. Who knows if he was drunk on his ass and fell down ? We don't but there are probably a few GM's who will do their due diligence on those rumors.
