My sympathy, condolences and prayers to the entire Reinsdorf family and friends who this painful passing affects.

They do need to. Their actions in the past usually has been acquiring veteran talent that greatly disappoints and their appearances in the playoffs never last beyond one season. If they could be as smart as TB and set up the infrastructure to support it with a bigger budget than TB they could be more successful than TB. The one thing that has eluded TB is because of budget they usually can't acquire that one expensive piece that might win them a World Series. But you cannot argue with the rest of the results. Even the Dodgers had a hard time winning the World Series while continually making the playoffs and they have all the money in the world to spend. As far as fans rioting, as was said in another post, or fans not tolerating it, as you said ,as long as you keep putting a winning product on the field fans opinions should mean nothing. So what if a few hundred loudmouths who know nothing about running a successful baseball franchise make noise on Twitter . Winning quiets them . In the Sox case that noise has always been warranted because the Sox have shown they also don't know how to run a successful MLB franchise. A profitable one , yes, a winning one , no.

TB doesn't care if the players they trade are good or become good. The players being good and controllable is what makes them valuable to keep the farm stocked and also get good pieces in return and usually younger controllable pieces. As long as they keep winning that is how they will do business.

Never ? What would you call what they did with Adames ? Is it not close enough to the deadline to include that trade that was made on 5/21/2021 ? A few days earlier they traded Hunter Strickland to the Angels. Now he wasn't a youngster but he had a 1.69 ERA for TB before he was traded. He's had a decent career and pitched in 2 World Series. Adames was traded to Milwaukee lessening the chance that Adames will come back to bite them in the ass and Strickland to the Angels so same thing applies. It's also important to note that these 2 in season trades where made in concert with one another. The Strickland trade was made May 17th and the Adames trade 5/21. They were probably close on the Adames trade that netted them Steckenrider, a reliever just as good and younger and controllable and another younger controllable pitcher for the minors which allowed them to trade Strickland. When you are deep you can do these things and their budget necessitates them doing it. If you are as successful as TB your fan base may not riot and learn to trust you. The Chicago White Sox fan base doesn't trust that our ownership works in the best interest of the team while on a tight budget.

It's hard for people to think outside the box. This is what Tampa Bay does all the time on a nothing budget and they still contend. However there is one difference . Tampa Bay some how still keeps winning and ends up with a bunch of minor league talent. It's because they trade pieces before they get expensive and multiple years left before they hit free agency and that gets them multiple pieces of minor league talent in return . Just recently it was Snell and Adames with Wander Franco waiting to replace Adames .

Kenta Maeda on the mound for the Twins and Lucas Giolito for the Sox. Sox will be looking for back to back wins. This will be Maeda's second start of the year against the Sox. In his first start, he went 5 innings and allowed 3 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks in a 9-3 Twins loss. Giolito started against the Twins May 19 and went 8 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits, and striking out 11 while walking 3 in a 2-1 win. Phase 2 of the All-Star voting has begun. Abreu, Moncada and Grandal all have a chance to start. Voting ends Thursday.

That hot streak has boosted his season batting line to a respectable .253/.298/.481 and bumped his 2021 home run total up to 17.

Marlins have 4 or 5 relief pitchers I'd rather have than Soria plus Staling Marte.

My opinion is that Rodon is the only starting pitcher who is acceptable to trade. That's because he is like a special needs pitcher. He will have to be monitored closely because of innings pitched limitations and may not stay healthy enough to make it through multiple playoff series. Most starting pitchers who pitch from the start of the season through the World Series without injury usually pitch over 200 innings . He may not and I'm guessing he won't be capable of that. But with special care he might be hence the appeal to other clubs. Other clubs might be fine with him pitching 4 or 5 innings a start or giving him some time off just to have him ready for the playoffs. Veteran guys like Lynn , Giolito and Keuchel are probably the best guys a starting staff can have whose arms have been through the meat grinder already. We are experiencing unprecedented levels of injuries and the team most likely to win the World Series will be the luckiest team who remains healthy in the second half. Right now one could say that trading for people who have shown an ability to stay healthy might be the best thing to do or have some key players returning from injury. If you had to guess would you think the injuries that have decimated teams like the Sox will get better , normalize of get worse in the 2nd half ?

All true but a contender desperate for pitching may take that chance also that if they baby him he can make it through the playoffs. That's what it seem people here think though I haven't seen anyone actually say that. I haven't heard a whole of of people saying yes, maybe the possibility for a trade should exist because of inning pitched limits and he has been injury prone in the past. I just keep hearing it's dumb to trade your best pitcher. Bama Doc was the only one open to the possibility. If someone had said what you just said that is acceptable.

Thought there would be a winners thread already. Mercedes and Collins drove in all 7 runs while Aaron Burr, Heuer and Bummer looked good in relief while Crochet and 27th man Jimmy Lambert did not. However a win is a win and the Sox gained a game on Cleveland .

If we ignore the Nightengale tweet, there is the other tweet or something that said Reinsdorf was willing to do what it takes. Can't ever be sure of that either . A lot of people took that to mean picking up a stupid contract on an old guy like Blackmon. It took it to mean the Sox might be willing to take on $10M in salary while dishing out some prospects too. That's like the most I can hope for.

SO nothing at the deadline last year when we probably make the playoffs And you want no deals when you make the playoffs 2 times in a row for the 1st time in our franchise history ? To trade him for the best deal they can get. Or do a 3 way deal with another team and a prospect from the Sox with a prospect from another team and Rodon goes to the 3rd team ? Update: I will take on base 4 times. Got a hit, on base with an error ,and a walk so far with 2 RBI and 1 R scored .
