  1. It is dangerous because if enough people share that opinion and decide to do something about it , that can be the 1st step in anarchy or mob rule. If you are just exercising your rights in a meaningless squabble in the grand scheme of things then I see no problem with that . But we cannot be naive that these things lead to overly emotional, irrational thought and when people are in an irrational, angry state of mind, all it takes is a leader with rational thought to rule the mob of the angry to start a revolution. A revolution to get LaRussa fired is great as long as we do not violate his civil rights in the process .
  2. How is anyone ever charged with anything not guilty then ? Should there not be trials anymore ? Might as well just skip the trial and get straight to the sentencing right ? I am trying to be as fair as possible.I pointed out that writing advertising sponsors could have undesirable consequences and so would assuming a guilty verdict before due process . It took 8 months from the incident to making charges. Lawyers live to make charges like these go away . You can assume all you want that LaRussa is guilty but the charges could still be dropped. That won't mean it still isn't a shit show but waiting for a verdict is a rather important part of democracies all over the world. Just because I called the the Sox organization and this situation a SHIT SHOW that doesn't mean we should spit on the judicial process. We are treading on dangerous ground here. There is enough legitimate anger here without spouting anarchy or ochlocracy .
  3. Just remember, that if the way you make your voice heard is through sponsors and the Sox lose sponsors, Reinsdorf can turn right around, do next to nothing this off season while claiming the team is in dire financial straits. He wouldn't have to specifically mention losing sponsors since that would be admitting his actions caused it. He already has a built in excuse to go cheap with the Pandemic. If you write sponsors just because you are choosing the moral high ground then what I just said is no concern but if you would like the Sox to have a productive off season you might be putting that at risk although it's already hard enough to determine how much the Sox would spend on payroll this off season. Also the Sox are not one of the teams that has announced the firing of long time organization employees. Another consequence of your actions could be people not named LaRussa losing their jobs. Remember shit rolls down hill and it's the people on the bottom of the organizational dung heap that get shit canned 1st.
  4. Which is why at the trade deadline I wanted moves made to make a serious push for a championship. It's why I cautioned people every chance I got when they started talking about making the playoffs in 2021, that assuming that is not a given. It is why this news is no shock to me. It is why I can remain hopeful but never get carried away with optimism. Being a Sox fan is always 1 step forward 3 steps back . We always knew in the back of our minds that this front office was capable of screwing it all up. This is a SHIT SHOW that has gone on a long long time.
  5. I remember loving that idea when it first came up. As bmags said recently and I probably said at the time trading Madrigal would be no big deal because they are easily replaced for very little money. I think I kept that Gallen /Madrigal conversation going longer than it should have on here just because it was fun to talk about but not realistic. I don't think you were the only one against but a majority were good with it. I was surprised though at the amount of people against it. Seemed like a slam dunk to me when you compare a young starter with indicators pointing up with a guy who hadn't played in the major yet who has never projected to be a run producer and whose OBP was too tied into his batting average.
  6. The only way the Sox get a payroll of $150M is if there is a vaccine for Covid in the next 2 months + overwhelming season ticket orders after it ends. Odds of that happening : 100 to 1.
  7. Because the 1st time only SS2k5 took the bait when he mentioned Gaedel . Some people would rather make outlandish statements for their shock value so they can become a big fish in a small pond like Soxtalk for kicks ?
  8. Sox fans tend to do that. We all have opinions. What exactly has he posted that he needs to be credible about ? Certainly not these two. One states the obvious with a pretended knowledge of what the other 29 teams are doing. The 2nd one is pure opinion. There's enough baseball talk on the internet that could keep you reading 24/7 . Basically you maybe read the 25 best twitters resources and some other websites and voila, if you have any memory at all or bookmarks your info you become instant Sox expert without having to name your resources.
  9. You know why. Because your average fan knows our guys years of control but not other team's . They just know Gallo and Lynn are players fitting holes on the roster but not thinking long term. I get amazed people would rather subject themselves to sounding unknowledgeable then use the miraculous resource at their fingertips that is the internet to better their knowledge.
  10. You don't think they knew he didn't have any power last season ? How exactly do you shift on Madrigal ? Just how shallow can an OF play ? He if shoots a ball down a line an OF would have a long run to catch up to it as it rolls into a corner. Would a team rather accept a single from him every now and then or give up triples or inside the park HR's from playing too shallow ? This is not a girl who looks like she never swung a bat before in your local co-ed softball league.
  11. Why do you speak as if it was Hahn and Hahn alone who was the lone mastermind and LaRussa and LaRussa alone who now holds the power ? Don't you think the front office has meetings with scouts and people who know minor league and major league personnel and compile a list of players to seek that might number around 100 and start making preliminary calls and start a process and gauge the likelihood of such acquisitions ? Who we do and don't end up with is a combination of availability, and cost of acquiring that is palatable to supple budgetary constraints.
  12. So much for suggested trades. Not one yet. Maybe your inspiring speech about ridiculous trade ideas on here helped. As a General i could hear you now rallying the troops. "Go out there boys and fight ! You're more likely to be killed by friendly fire than the enemy."
  13. A bit overly dramatic. There are many horrifying things in this world. This is not one of them.
  14. Is it a reason to panic ? Nope. They still have to hire his coaches. I don't think it's necessary to contact every player in the 1st month of hire. There's a ton of things the Sox and LaRussa will be active with this off season . Let them get a coaching staff in place 1st so there's a bit more to talk about with his players or maybe get an idea of who the Sox will retain, acquisition targets, payroll. We all have questions about that so maybe the players do too and LaRussa might want to be better prepared on those fronts Heck he could wait til around Thanksgiving and tell them all how thankful he is to get the opportunity to manage each and every one of them.
  15. The OP was talking about being a manager. Front office personnel are different. I saw nothing in my post to say LaRussa could empathize with his players. Texsox said " None of Tony's playing experience helped ". That statement is an absolute to which I argued LaRussa may not agree with. I usually disagree with absolutes unless LaRussa himself had said that. Apparently LaRussa is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't . Name a few black players and it's stereotypically. Don't name enough and you are slighting some. While I agree that RR was used as a scapegoat for way too many White Sox problems, that is neither here nor there. LaRussa's 1st stint as Sox manager also means nothing. Comparing RR to Ozzie's or LaRussa's tenure and stating how long it took each to make a playoff appearance while accurate also means nothing. As you accurately pointed out RR didn't have the pitching Ozzie did so you acknowledge that different personnel in entirely different seasons and tenures have much different results so how long it took LaRussa vs. RR is mute based on your own reasoning. Also while true that short responses are better for a message board insulting the board for that seems odd. Post what you will and if no one reads it or responds to it so be it. I was not in favor of LaRussa being named manager nor the process that led to it. I have stated my piece on it as much as I care to. It's time to get down to the business of winning . That is what I think most of the board cares about. Any underlying social issues will work themselves out in due time. Of course the decision could backfire just as it could end in satisfactory results.
  16. Simple, because Springer is a luxury and the luxury we need to spend on is pitching.
  17. I'm not sure LaRussa would agree that none of his playing experience helped. You learn the game through playing the game . Even at the lowest levels by little league coaches you learn the value of doing things the proper way, baseball terminology , team work, fundamentals. Every year you play, study or coach you refine your process and approach as a player or a teacher of the game. Of course someone can learn these things . There are plenty of baseball fans with great knowledge of the game who might not have played a single inning in organized baseball. I never did . I played in the concrete jungle of the inner city using street corner sewers covers as bases , asphalt playgrounds as playing fields and stone drawn strike zones on building walls , never using a hardball with seams except to play catch or hit in a park every so often. I grew up loving baseball but l never really played it. Your early years doing something are probably the most formative. The best teacher is actually doing it. No amount of study can replace that.
  18. It might be light but but they will get at least one very talented piece.
  19. Cleveland is not giving up. They have proven to be effective at retooling. They have made decent trades . I will never say never but I'd put the odds of getting Lindor at 1000 to 1.
  20. Yep Yadi is going to have to come to grips that he will be making less money, play less and is closer to becoming a coach than he is to getting what he wants as a player.
  21. Or did you mean to say you are not Not Cishek ? The old Shell game ? Did you stay at a Holiday Inn express ? Bananas.
  22. I'm sure you know he could be pulling our legs.
