  1. Those are all the guys I want to see in the lineup. I would drop Moncada behind McCann against the lefty . I don't think either of us will be right however.
  2. I didn't even know we made the playoffs next year.
  3. Garrett Crochet has only been up with the White Sox since Sept. 18, and he’s already thrown the second-most 100 mph pitches in the Majors this year. The hard-throwing lefty made headlines for being the first player to appear in the Majors the year he was drafted since Brandon Finnegan in 2014, but once he set foot on the mound, all eyes -- and storylines -- have been on Crochet's velocity. Through his appearance on Saturday night, Crochet has thrown 45 pitches of at least 100 mph in just six innings this season. The only pitcher with more 100 mph pitches is the Dodgers’ Brusdar Graterol, with 47 in 22 1/3 innings. https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/news/garrett-crochet-100-mph-pitches
  4. Right but you have to use Keuchel in game 2 because if used in game 3 that just delays him starting in the ALDS . Use the regular rotation like you have all year. The 3rd and 4th starters just have to step up if we are going to go anywhere in any additional series. We may not tee off on Bassitt and there's a better chance the A's tee off on whoever starts in place of Keuchel . I don't want to give away a game then delay Keuchels start in the ALDS should he happen to win a game 3 and throw the rotation off kilter. Remember if we win in 2 games we get more time off . SO we might be able to pitch Giolito and Keuchel in the 1st 2 games of the ALDS
  5. I'll give it a 50% chance that EE is left off . The Renteria quotes sounded like a we are leaving him off speech . You have to have McCann and Grandal playing together and hopefully Eloy in LF . If Eloy can't play the field that complicates things . If EE is left off we probably do see Collins. I'm more than fine if we need a PH against a lefty that whoever is not playing amongst McCann, Engel and Leury that they are more than adequate . Engel has hit RH just as good if not better than he hit LH this year and as a sub in 13 AB he has 7 hits which more than likely means he has been our best pinch hitter.
  6. Ha please specify Gonzalez when you say Gio.
  7. I didn't hate Nomar when we got him. I thought it was a good gamble on his upside. Funny thing is if he had just hit like he normally did against RH in 2019 everybody would have loved him. .288 BA , .344 OBP ,500 Slg. and .844 OPS . That looked a helluva lot better than the output we got from Jay, Cordell, Delmonico and Tilson. However the stats he put up offensively were just like the guys from last year. Just terrible. Now I don't care how many singles he hits to LF in the last game or 2 , that's not why he was brought here. He was supposed to have an .800+ OPS against RH not a paltry .544 . Also weird that his fielding was better than expected as was his hitting against LH but in a small sample size. We needed his help against RH not LH. At that he failed miserably. Throw in the Moncada bad year .699 OPS 2020, .945 2019 and our expected output against RH pitching tanked . If Eloy wasn't hurt I'm not even sure Mazara makes the playoff roster . I'm predicting EE is left off the playoff roster.
  8. Yea all this playing scared is for losers. Hit them with your best shot the 1st 2 games .
  9. Strange thinking . You win game 1 you're want to do everything in your power not to let it get to a game 3. Put your best on the field and be confident you can finish them off in 2 . Bassitt is not some superstar pitcher.
  10. Its not his game .He is what he is. He'll manage a few hits to RF and CF and that was usually good enough when he was hitting more than .225 but age and short season was his doom.
  11. https://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2020/7/27/21339212/samardzija-semien-phegley-bassitt-ynoa-athletics-white-sox-trade-retrospective
  12. HAHA i hope I'm right Nope I'm wrong bWar has Leury at .6 this year while Nomar is at 1.0 for his career. fWar has Mazara at -5.5 oWAR and .7 dWAR and it somehow finishes at .2 for 2020 and a 1.9 for his career. In his 16 games this year Leury had a 109 wRC+ 1.3 oWAR and .4 dWAR = .4 fWAR 1.2 for his career. Not too many conclusions can be drawn for Leury's meager 63 plate appearance but he was performing very well. K % was way down. Leury hit more HR's (3) in his 63 PA than Nomar did in his 149 (1) ?
  13. I think it's a reach to think he won't be better in every way than Mazara. If they put him out there I'm going to assume he's ready. He accumulated more WAR in the games he has played this year than Mazara has in his whole career.
  14. Well nobody has exactly grabbed the bull by the horns have they ?
  15. 1st you were leery of an NL player peeking at his age now all of a sudden he's worth a lot ? I have no idea what SF would want for him. He's just going to be wasted there in the coming few years as near future value is indeterminable.
  16. I don't know how anyone can assume Colas or Cespedes will be ready in a year with the pandemic wreakingking havoc on the minor leagues and Latin American programs.. We haven't even officially signed either of them . We need production now for the next 2-3 years at least. You really can't say anything bad about Yastrezmski . His numbers would be superstar numbers this year if it wasn't for the fact he's been around for such a short period of time but he's likely to give you 2 to 3 years of good production which seems ideal to me if anyone is actually counting on guys we haven't even signed yet to actually be productive.
  17. Will the Sox dare to use Lopez in a 3rd game based on his most recent performances being better than Dunning or Cease ? Do they do a BP game starting Dunning or Cease with extremely short leashes ? Depending on the opponent do you start a RH or LH in game 3 then switch quickly forcing the other team into a non optimal lineup ? For example start Cease, Dunning or Lopez then go to Rodon, Crochet and Bummer against a lineup stacked with LHs.
  18. In any close series this might be what gives the Sox an advantage. Any time you will hear announcers saying where the Sox BP finished (and it's not been bad) won't be as accurate because of all the recent changes with Crochet and Bummer back from injury and adding Rodon if he can get a relief appearance in the last game and look somewhat competent. All the BP roles should be well defined except how and when Rodon will be used.
  19. Not sure a stopgap is ideal if your counting on complete unknowns to be the solution . Here's my 2 best trade candidates. Anthony Santander (25) of the Orioles and Mike Yastrezmski (30) of the Giants. Santander is a switch hitter who is bad against LH but kills RH making him ideal to be the strong side platoon with Engel. His fWAR is .8 wRC+ 131and 11HR in 37 games this year. His K% is only 15.2 .He may be on the verge of becoming an elite power hitter. His DRS is 8 this year so that's pretty good and UZR 1.1. Why his fWAR seems low considering his good offensive and defensive year I have no idea. Yastrezmski will be 31 next August 23rd bats LH. He appears to hit both RH's and LH pitchers well. He has a 2.5 fWAR. He's an OBP machine with his BB% at12.9 but his K% is pretty high a t24.9 but that might be why he became a good hitter. He used to choke up on 2 strikes but now because of the Giants hitting coaches the main thing he's doing now is trying to take his best swings regardless of the count. His wRC+ 155. He's a good 2 strike hitter. He might be the most unheralded star because he did nothing of note while in the minors and only got a chance at the age of 29. He's also a good fielder. His DRs is 1 but his UZR is 1.7. This would be like Rutherford or Luis Gonzalez all of a sudden becoming a star at an advanced age when the Sox give up on them. Of course you'd be buying high on him but the Giants might be wise to trade him while they can get the most for him.
  20. Hey now I didn't make a prediction in any of the other games !
  21. Historically the A's have their longest losing streak franchise to franchise against the White Sox. 15 games straight losing to the Sox during the 1964 and 1965 seasons when the franchise was in Kansas City. Those A's teams had a player we are all familiar with. Ken "Hawk" Harrelson.
  22. What I want to know is how high did that Baez bat flip go ? That replay where they showed the ball and the bat both flying in the air at the same time was amazing ! Did Stat Cast track the bat too ?
