9.21.20 GT | White Sox @ Cleveland | 5:10PM CT

Exactly. Already got in the playoffs and the BP is in flux with the expected returns of Bummer and possibly Rodon and then they have to pitch and decisions made on very small sample sizes which of them go to the 1st round. Right now I dont know if one person could predict correctly who is going to be in the pen for the 1st playoff series. -

Fry had 10 scoreless appearences in a row . 9 before his injury ,1 after. Yes his control has been an issue but we cant expect perfection. Sox didnt get more than 4 anyway so even with 5 shutout inning from then pen we are still tied. Frys last outing didnt he K four in a row ? There was some guy on here who wanted him to pitch longer than he did when he's basically a lefty specialist coming off an injury ,who pitches less than 1 inning per outing. He didnt look to be throwing very hard tonight. -

I like the cut of your gib. All these posters so worried about slumps and disadvantages. What about our advantages and our strengths ? Dunning will be the 3 pitcher in the playoffs. Imagine the BP with Bummer , Fry, Crochet and maybe Rodon from the left side when 2 weeks ago we had none of those guys and still was kicking ass. We are at the top in a lot of offensive categories while missing Madrigal, Moncada and Mazara for most of the season for various reasons. Most our key guys are healthy or due back shortly. FEAR the White Sox ! -

It matter when you need to replace Eloy or Mazara in the OF for late inning defense. If Leury wasnt injured we probably dont get Dyson. But I also agree about the 3rd catcher but it's likely EE is going to the playoffs. . -

Well expectations not met with McCann. -
You did say low OBP and we all know OBP includes walks and batting average HBP and whatever else. Sox also lead the AL in team batting average so I'm more inclined to think we probably already hit our fair share of home runs with men on base. I dont know if there is a stat that will break that down by percent. I'm sure by shear numbers alone we are very high up in the solo HR category but that is just a result of hitting a lot of HRs. I would guess if broken down by percent that the Sox might actually have a better HR with a man+ on base percentage than most teams.

I will agree with the caveat that I'd have to look into the pitching rotations of all teams to see if what you said about pitching on 4 days rest 75% of the time is true. If theres some way for you to prove that I think there would be less as you colorfully described, " pearl clutching ." -

Technically 3 days rest is different from 4 days rest, just as 4 days rest is different from 5 . It isnt easy to do going from one to the other when you are used to doing it one way and all your prep work is geared for that. I'm actually surprised at your answer basically equating 3 days rest as the same as 4. Not only that but has he been going on 4 days rest all year or 5 like most pitchers ? There's a big difference in what he THINKS he should be doing and what he is actually doing. Seems to me he is making a personal sacrifice to help the team risking his own health. -

If he's not a team 1st guy why is he offering to pitch with 3 days rest when the Reds need the wins in order to make the playoffs ? -
Have you not heard the Sox are 1st in OBP in the AL ? Time for all to get on board for the new Sox. The old Sox have been thrown in the garbage.

Ptatc the invitation to make a reservation is the lyrics from Magical Mystery Tour and while at an undisclosed destination fits in with the the rhythm of the words it is not part of the song . ?

If you still think the Sox are anti analytical then perhaps your thinking is just as antiquated as you think the Sox are. -
Bama don't you have a smart TV where you can get the MLB app ? It has highlights and interviews after every game.

The beauty of baseball being a team game means even while others slump others step up. A pitcher doesn't even have to be in a slump. Just one inning where he cant locate and you might be down 4-0. Any time you lose one can point to players who underperformed . Being the best team in the AL means we have already overcome obstacles to get where we are now. Mazara has been bad , EE not what he has been ,Cishek not good, Moncada injured ,sick, Bummer getting hurt and Robert's long slump. In a short series an 0 'for from your best players doesnt even constitute a slump yet can have devastating effects. I'm not telling you anything you dont know just as you telling us Robert currently sucking hurts our chances. We just must trust that they pick each other up. Trust the depth of the team talent and the ability to rise to the occasion. Failure is more likely for teams with worse records than the Sox and a short Series might even out the odds a bit but it's the same for every team and I'd rather be able to talk about our playoff chances like this more than every 12 years. You don't need a thesis to know people get excited about young highly ranked prospects who performed at an MVP pace . No worries here , just will enjoy what's next.

My son loved TMNTs . He's 33 now. I just like how their Italian names fit in with the Anderson spaghetti dinner theme of the evening.
-
No I don't, wasn't looking to insult you just poking fun at your avatar.
-
Maybe you'd like Robert more if his name was Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello or Michaelangelo.
