  1. Sox lack of middle infield depth now pretty apparent. Do they even have another middle infielder in Schaumburg?
  2. Ha. Thank you. I saw the thread and just SMH. Caulfield gonna Caulfield being sooo deceptively clever .Not
  3. Yea and besides that Squirmin' always batted 9th when he wasnt carrying the bats around.
  4. So today's game is cancelled/postponed. Can we make the title reflect that ?
  5. This is the official Jump the Gun thread. We have no idea what's going to happen with our starters the rest of the year nor do we know how Covid will affect next season. Confirmation bias is settling in on Mazara despite warnings about SSS just about everywhere you look. 8 games and 20 AB for Marzara. He could go 3 for 4 tomorrow with a HR and a double and his OPS is around .850 and OBP is around .450.
  6. Worst trades in MLB history are always discussed .For years we've heard about the Cubs trading Lou Brock. It's baseball lore now or is on it's way there should Tatis continue on the same trajectory. .
  7. Ok yes we were all jumping to conclusions based on a single data point.Have it you way. If you dont want to deal with reality theres nothing else to discuss. You already made up your own history of events. Hahn had no power, Shield couldve been Cole Hamels or Randy Johnson, the Padres interest in Tatis was pure luck and Tatis was a one in 10,000 lotto ticket . IF the odds were that high for every player Marco Paddy ever signed he wouldn't have a job let alone be a highly respected talent evaluator. Do you really think so little of your Soxtalk brethren that in a long thread on the trade that not one person hating the trade made any kind of sense and you have nothing to learn ?
  8. People will always discuss controversial subjects involving things they are passionate about . It's not quite the JFK assassination but on a Sox forum it might as well be.
  9. Ok however many months before the season ends. BUT it will be difficult for teams to make offers while we're still in the pandemic so I do expect a slow market and not much happening in December. Players may also wait ,hoping for a vaccine if the offers they get due to the pandemic ,are low.
  10. Yes I do. First and foremost the season has to finish . Theres no way to know what we need yet. This thread is 5 months early.
  11. https://www.futuresox.com/2020/08/10/dane-dunning-critiqued-refined-his-stuff-now-waits-for-the-call/ Dunning seems like he has a lot on the ball. Good attitude.
  12. Players do the best they can. They have careers at stake, families to feed. No one loses on purpose. Even on a bad team guys are thinking they have opportunities to show that they are more than perceived . They all want to win. Most dont take losing silently. No matter how bad they are at the highest level most grew up as celebrated athletes and winners their whole lives.
  13. The switch has been flipped or something along those lines.
  14. Still needed all 3 attributes Grandal brought that I mentioned for the season. I didnt even mention framing in my previous posts. I'LL worry about the playoffs when both Grandal and McCann and the rest of the team plays well enough to get us there.
  15. But you're ignoring the need for power , LH, and OBP and we had a stable full of young starters. Plus theres no guarantee McCann still doesn't choose free agency. Covid messed up a lot of plans . I too thought another starter might be necessary but GIOGON was Ok. I also stuck up for McCann a lot but Grandal is a proven top catcher in baseball whereas McCann wasnt.
  16. The Sox desperately need another LH (SW) power bat and OBP plus the upcoming free agency of McCann .Why do u feel vindicated ?
  17. You guys may hate the way Mazara's hitting ATM but he is getting on base at a good clip.
  18. So you're saying RR actually plans ahead and isnt the senile guy our posters paint him to be.
  19. Maybe u better find the thread here at the time of the trade and read it. You're carrying a huge bucket of water there. You cant keep comparing Shields to other older pitchers . You have a pro scouting department to make those decisions. ALL you keep doing is throwing up numbers .Do u look behind the numbers ? Was Hamels or johnson hurt? Maybe you should read what Caulfield posted from The Athletic from Tatis Sr. recollection of the teams pursuing Tatis and how Sox got him and how the Padres then traded for him. It was not pure luck .All you keep doing is making up stories to fit your narrative. Read the real story.
  20. Many of us here were shaking their fists during the fact because of Shields not Tatis. Even more so after the fact many were proven right about Shields and Tatis proved he wasnt some 1 in 10,000 lottery ticket. Hahn was supposedly pitching a rebuild for at least a year already. They hired Paddy to beef up the Latin American scouting and he did a great job getting Tatis. Why hire him just to cut off his legs ? Tatis was never some random choice by the Padres. They knew who they wanted. If Hahn truly was pining for a rebuild he had a funny way of showing it.
  21. Shortest game thread so far this year. Thought it might be . I didnt see the thread until later than usual. Good game ,everything was working. Now do it more.
  22. Nah I think it's more like the press is much better at quoting white guys than the latino player because they don't need a translator.
