He's so strong and has such blazing bat speed that he's just scratching the surface of his potential now. -

He's taken a long time to recover from TJ. They going to keep him at 1 inning. -

If Burdi Foster Heuer keep throwing strikes and Bummer comes back strong Sox have the making of a playoff quality bullpen featuring 3 rookies. -

I wonder out of the total pitches Boyd has thrown how many have been in the zone. Has to be less than half. -

If it was so easy to lead the league in hard hit balls by cheating on fastballs then he wouldn't be leading the league. You're reaching. -

Boyd K's Robert twice with a total of 1 pitch in the zone . -

And yet somehow he leads the AL in 95+ MPH hit balls. Go figure. -

That AB by Robert truly baffled me. Jimenez K'd on mostly pitches out of the zone. TA and Yoan took Boyd deep. You got a lefty on the mound afraid to throw strikes against righties. You take that 1st pitch every time. Force Boyd to throw you something in the zone. Those things need to be in Robert's head if not from his own thought process then from a coach prior to his AB. -

You do know this is the game thread right ? I usually stay out of game thread because of the over reactions. But when your 5th starter is on the mound and Engel is already out the defense n probably the offense too is already behind the 8 ball. Not playing your current best hitter against lefties in favor of struggling guys doesn't seem to be prioritizing wins. Wow ok Anderson and Moncada like winning ! -

Of course. The majority of the board was sure it was a fluke . But that is neither here nor there We love you here but we also know you love baseball because it's a beautiful game. Most of desire wins. Wins have to be prioritized . Pointing out we all whine a lot is Captain Obvious stuff. We wants wins. We want to make the Playoffs. We want something to make us feel goooood ! We're Sox junkies ! We want the good stuff baby ! -

McCann needs to play against lefties . Sorry EE but can't wait for you to get it together forever. Need wins. Go with the hot guy . Also Robert should be ahead of EE. Show some damm urgency instead of this veteran preference BS. -
But it isnt April its August and 35 % of the season is gone so Madrigal and Leury now likely to miss over half the season which makes Mendicks sample size slightly bigger in a much shorter season . He's doing well enough that we arent railing about him If I could say this about Grandal, Encarnacion and Mazara we'd have a better record. Small sample sizes of good performance mean more in a short season just as prolonged slumps mean more. No time to waste this year.
-
Not hyping him up per se but giving credit when it's due. He's done a good job consistently when many of the big boppers are taking their sweet time getting to the dance and replacing the walking wounded.
-
He looked wobbly recently hitting and fielding before he got the 2 days off. He looks sturdier now.
-
That's my point . They are treating Collins like an emergency catcber now so even if he is LH and can draw some walks he still is 0-fer this season. If you are going to PH someone a walk is all well and good but you also want a guy with just as much power and a guy who can go the opposite way and get a big hit. It's not fair to Collins at all nor am I basing this on anything very concrete, just his performance in AAA and the team leading 4 HRs , .955 SlG and 1.371 OPS in ST.
