If you are just taking the distance of the HR's it can be done I suppose but but are you taking all HR's he hit at home in Baltimore then the ones he hit in LA? Then try to figure out the pitching difference between playing in a new division. Seems like a waste of time. You know in a good year he will probably hit 35-40 .

That's how I see it. The Sox want one and if they have to overbid they will . Machado is first and foremost. If you have to end up overbidding and land Machado then that makes the odds of landing Harper much longer since overbidding on both is pretty likely out of the question. Now if they think they can get both for somewhere around $600M they might go for it but that's a huge risk if you end up losing Machado by underbidding . Come hell or high water the Sox want one and Machado is the true target.

True but you also have to account for that the Sox are going after both with the hopes of landing just one.

True enough. I 've posted that if we get Machado the prudent thing to do is not go after Harper. Sure right now the payroll can take both but finishing off the rebuild with a World Series winner might get more difficult with a bloated payroll. Always need the room to add someone Verlanderesque down the stretch. I certainly wouldn't be against having both though. Not my money.

If we can bag Machado our chances at Harper increase exponentially.

Well you sure seem convinced Machado is as good as gone. What led you to think that? Was it just one or many in a series of twitter posts about it ? Clark, Simonetti. Sox supposed interest in other options, Manny following Yankees things on twitter etc.. haven't influenced you at all have they ?

Ever think Manny gave his agent permission to follow certain Yankee things as a negotiating ploy ? 2 things we have heard about MM a lot and that is he loves the Yankees and he loves money. So let's say the Yankees offer is less than the Sox but agent wants Sox to think he's going to the Yanks. Seems to me to be the right way to go about getting a better offer from the Sox. To me it's unethical but not illegal. I believe in negotiating in good faith but that's a bit old fashioned and probably has been done in the past by other agents. The bigger twitter gets the more it will be a cesspool for this kind of behavior and may also involve bribes.

I'm great with you spitballin'. It might be Ok for Cincy but it would be selling low on our part. Rodon would be worth so much more if he can put it all together. Right now he's just another guy who needs to stay healthy and start showing why he was drafted so high. He's done it in spurts in a few different seasons. Just needs to be consistently good.

I wouldn't trade Cease or Rodon . Rodon may yet break out. Have to wait on him. Us or the Reds shouldn't be moving good prospects. Like it or not we have to wait. Usually it's the guy already in the majors traded for prospects so Rodon for an untested Senzel seems out of place though some are suggesting he wouldn't be enough. Hopefully Rodon has a nice 1st half and see what we can get at the trade deadline. I've still got my fingers crossed for Machado and if not him Arenado or Rendon next year. With plenty of payroll space just no need to deal prospects or a guy who still has a chance to be a TOR pitcher.

I have a home made DVD of the 1985 Superbowl that I hadn't watched in a long time. It opened with the Superbowl Shuffle. So many memories, great memories. Then the game was such a blowout. Surprised it was wide screen but it was and once I got used to it not being in HD it looked and sounded pretty good. The current fast young defense reminds me so much of that 85 team. Ditka was also a coach who used his personnel like Nagy .Remember the Fridge scoring a TD and blocking in 85?

Right . They had the 1st game won against the Pack but Nagy 1st game, Mack's 1st game and Trubisky's 1st game under Nagy. Then lost what 2 games without either Mack and Trubisky? So they lost what ,1 game with Trubisky and Mack in the lineup except for 1st game of the season ? I was watching some NFL show on Roku and 3 of 4 analyst picked the Vikings over Bears and 2 were former players. If it wasn't for Parkey I'd think the Bears are a legit Superbowl contender.
