  1. That's yes in French and weeeeeeeeeeee ! in english so yea I am.
  2. Did Moncada appear to start making better contact when Abreu left the lineup ? Sure seems so.
  3. Every time he gets down to .230 he gets a hit . I think I've seen it 3 times already. He's hanging in there considering he'll have arthroscopic knee surgery shortly after the season ends .
  4. He could do better by just staying away from the NL and going with guys who are familiar with AL Central pitching. Just about all of his flops were NL players or guys without a track record (Keppinger) or just plain too old with major signs of decline (LaRoche). Stick to good 2 way players. Of course now we're not talking bargain bin.
  5. McCutchen, Brantley, Adam Jones. Pollock all viable options. Remember how well Dye did with the Sox coming off an injury in 2004 and kind of being labeled as injury prone at that point ? Dye played with the Sox for 5 years age 31 through age 35 seasons . 2 of those years he got MVP votes 2006 and 2008 ) One year he was World Series MVP (2005). He always had a minimum of 500 AB's and averaged an .867 OPS for those 5 years. I wouldn't shy away from Pollock or Brantley because of past injuries. Jones is the oldest of them but solid player ,solid clubhouse guy and solid citizen. In terms of my most desired and probably most expensive ; 1.Brantley 2. Pollock 3. McCutchen 4. Jones.
  6. Tanner Banks is certainly a surprise. I thought Jose Ruiz might be there
  7. I'd say your " etc ." means you forgot Adolfo but knew you forgot someone .
  8. I have to agree with this. The threat of a grievance does not equal filing a grievance. Sure they could file one and they would lose. The consequences of the threat now mean that the Sox have to wait for the extra year of control. Bringing him up before then would look like an admission of their guilt . They were probably going to do that anyway but now it's 99% assured.
  9. Even if that's the case when a guy is gassed like Minaya and you have a fresh reliever like Burr and Vieira sometimes the situation forces your hand/ If they are on the team wanting lesser situations is fine but the baseball gods don't always allow you to follow things so rigidly as you would like. I wouldn't have wanted Vieira in that situation anyway since he can be wild and walks needed to be avoided but even he would;ve better than Minaya. You just can't have 2 guys in the pen used only for non high leverage situation. That severely limits your BP .Why have them up here if they can't be used when you need them ? Just for the record the game in question against the Yanks was 8/28 Vieira last pitched 8/24 and picked up the win with .1 innings in the 7th . The Sox were behind 3-0 at the time but had that 6 run 8th inning to win it. Burr's only appearance was 8/23. 1.1 perfect innings with 2 K's . The Sox were behind 7-0 at the time and ended up losing 7-2. I actually think not being used at all is just as detrimental or more so then using him in high leverage situations. He's a reliever .He knows the job description and surely was used in high leverage situations in the minors. Once promoted it's big boy pants time and throwing Minaya to the wolves while they baby Burr was just bad decision making. Let the kid do his thing and if he gets beat up so be it. Won't be the 1st or last time it happens. Anyway bottom line they both were fresh and Minaya wasn't.
  10. Can't really say that. Maybe Burr get's lit up too. But yea the Minaya move was bad and I questioned it in the game thread as soon as I saw him being brought in . No idea why Ricky would use him again after pitching 1.2 innings the night before.
  11. OK the Sox history thing was just a sidebar to say they don't have the Yankee's or Red Sox or Dodgers feel as far as that goes. My main point was they have money they are winners and storied franchises. You'd have to be pretty ignorant of baseball history not to know the Yanks history. All those reasons are why many of us think Harper or Machado are long shots even if the money is equal . Even having the best offer isn't a guarantee they will come here and most of us doubters think the chance of the Sox having the best offer isn't so great either.
  12. These are the exact kind of discussions I was hoping to get in my Let there be light thread. That's what I get for writing more than a few paragraphs ? . Good discussions guys . I really like some of the ideas on which free agents to pursue though I haven't seen any relief pitchers mentioned. Kimbrel anyone ?
  13. It's really hard to answer that question because some of the richest teams are also the best teams so free agents cn have their cake and eat it too with a great contract and going to a winning team not to mention some of the most storied franchises in baseball history. The Sox history is just dismal.
  14. Like we have both stated previously it could happen before that if some White Sox OF prospects do as well as we hope. I think Rutherford is underated with the knowledgeable guys who follow the affiliates. Reminds me of Yelich who just now is tapping into much more power.
  15. https://twitter.com/twitter/statuses/1034954434130763776 Let's not forget this.
  16. JD Martinez is the guy I've been comparing Eloy to in a few posts. And give credit to Lillian since she mentioned 1st base or DH eventually for Eloy way before this writer did.
  17. Wait if I use your figures that's 4.79 runs per game and 4.84 against. A minor difference but shorts the Sox a bit.
  18. Lopez has some bulldog in him. Started off throwing 91 and getting some hard hit balls for outs then revved it up to 97 in his final few innings. Loved seeing the curve tonight , Sometimes a pitcher just has too many pitches. His main 3 shoulder be FB, curve , changeup. occasionally a slider to keep them off his fastball. Ryan MaMarre hero of the offense with all 4 RBI with 2 doubles and a HR with one the the doubles and the HR both going to RF. The guy looks like he knows how to hit and reminds me of TCQ with his dark hair and heavy beard . Too bad he's nearly 30 .
  19. I mead the same joke weeks ago then got the Headly LaMarre Blazing Saddlles joke back from Heads I think. Not just millenials I'm old and I wasn't around when Hedy Lamar was a famous actress
  20. This seems to be one of those threads where if you didn't know the score you'd assume by reading the posts that Lopez was giving up a ton of runs instead of having a 1 hitter through 4 with no walks and 4 k's.
  21. He's done well with the Sox probably better than Cordell would have . I know Cordell could be potentially be worth more being younger but it hardly makes a difference at this point.
