  1. Wow hold the presses Burke has his best inning after Sox score.
  2. Big news vet OF hits HR Sox have early lead and Sox win a challenge and Jake Amaya gets a hit ! 😂
  3. Most of the hires were talking about didn't happen last year.
  4. Because Burger is still in the Majors and teams still want him and he still a very good hitting a FB. I think we're allowed to be silly. If Getz had made that trade you know damn well people would be taking victory laps about Getz poor judge of talent just like they are with Fletcher.
  5. Lol me too ! Double victory day for me because I said after they signed MA Taylor that I thought Robert would still be on the Sox on Opening Day.
  6. An OF of Robert, Taylor and Jones would be top of the line defensively. Wonder if we ever see that. Maybe with Clevinger on the mound in the 9th protecting a lead trying not to give up long balls.
  7. Lol thanks I just had a good Chicago Catholic school education. I don't know if knowing the right usage of they're , their and there or two, to and too and also knowing it's would've, could've, should've instead of would of , could of , should of, makes me a good writer. I just try to look at the bigger picture. To me it's just hard to blame the puppets when someone is pulling THEIR strings. Appreciate the kindness TOO !
  8. If you notice they didn't sign a single player to more than a $5M contract. You're not going to get a closer on a one year deal for that kind of money whose rep is good enough to generate strong trade interest. The market apparently didn't show much interest in Fedde or Cease so while it's easy to be upset about the trades I think the Sox and Getz get treated like the ugly stepchild by other GMs because he was a new GM and they know JR may press Getz to move the salary more than he cares about a better return . I've heard others say salary dump and this could be true. There's so much going on behind the scenes in trades that we just aren't privy to. As fans many thought Cease was worth a lot more.We all wanted a golden return from Baltimore. So yeah what we got back pales in comparison to expectations and Cease came back and pitched very well and again Sox fans started saying ooh SD will get more for him than the Sox did once the rumors started about SD possibly trading Cease. That hasn't happened, has it ? Still despite our expectations I still do like seeing Baltimore fail in the playoffs. Hey maybe Vargas actually improves the Fedde Kopech return and one of those 2 infielders they picked up climb up the Sox top 30 this year and Zavala figured something out and rises from the ashes.
  9. Getz has said Vasil was on their radar when doing the research that led to picking Shane Smith. He's the kind of guy Bannister likes to work with quickly and see if they can come up with a plan against hitters from both sides of plate . Lots of little things you can change quickly and see how comfortable they feel with it. Davis Martin is a guy to keep your eye on as far as a guy who picked up the kick change and than a sinker to overhaul his plan of attack from working with Bannister and Katz and giving him an off season regiment . They won't have that luxury with Vasil so it'll have to happen on the fly. But it's like picking up a AAA starting pitching for almost free with an arm and pitch mix they look for and sticking him in the pen with a chance to start down the road if he can pitch decent enough to stick around all year especially in light of losing guys like Berroa,Adams,Thorpe who all had a good chance to pitch on the 2025 Sox.
  10. It's actually shocking to me that you're supposed to be bad in a rebuild but because it was setting record bad you're all so angry. It's actually comical. Yes we were supposed to be bad but not this bad ! It's even more funny thinking if JR fired Getz that that would somehow change the trajectory that JR has started the countdown on already. 5, 4, 3...I'm gone , my kids sell the Sox. New owner Ishbia ? New stadium ? Are we happy now ? Who cares I'm dead and my kids are rich.Good luck everybody !
  11. Come on Fathom you have more baseball knowledge than to make silly statements like you know what the rest of baseball would do in a similar situation. There is no similar situation comparable to a terrible owner , hiring a GM to rebuild after a failed rebuild so you're expected to be really bad during a rebuild right and then fire him for being really really bad ? I mean seriously is this about having a worse record than you expected to have when you should have known all along that they were going to have a very bad record. For all we know JR is smarter than all of us because he isn't mentioned half as much for that terrible record as his fall guy is. JR must know he is despised but watching the fans at each others throats about Chris Getz must make him chuckle. What a bunch of dimwits bothered so much by that record in one year that my puppet was in charge. I didn't even give him any real money to work with because I'm stripping down the whole franchise to be sold off after I die. As far as I'm concerned if Ishbia buys the Sox and fired everyone I'm good but expecting Reinsdorf the fire Getz accomplishes nothing. We act like JR wants to fix the mess he's responsible for in the 1st place. Fire Getz ! Ok now what ? Seriously is JR going to make it all better and kiss your boo boo ?
  12. No one is saying he's not responsible for his own actions. He's made bad decisions. He's learning on the job.The whole situation stinks. But along with the bad there is good happening and we act like minor, on the fringes trades are like signing Benintendi to his contract level of bad and some people never let us forget that. When you trade a nobody for a nobody if it doesn't work out how long am I supposed to cry about it ? I care more about new Traject machines and the new coaches and manager than I do the failure of Deloach or Fletcher .I care more about how some of the organization top arms will progress and ultimately impact the rise of the team. I care about the Sox being bad enough to get the best odds to acquire the1-1 pick in the draft, something the last rebuild never got because they failed to be really bad like Houston in their rebuild. The last rebuild never modernized. They were an insular group with the GM and the exGM operating independently as we saw when KW traded Buger for Eder and Ng bypassed Hahn and went straight to Williams. Who holds more responsibility for Edgar Quero ,Rick Hahn who traded for him or the people who have helped him develop once he came here ? Getz has been far from perfect.I think his 1st full year as GM was a huge learning process but he's got a firmer grip on the direction he's going now and managed to find good hires along the way. If you're impressed by the hires of McKinvin ,Fuller, Venable at least on the surface the rest of baseball seems to think those are good moves. Also recently there's been hope for a new owner. Chris Getz didn't prevent a multi billionaire to cancel his plans to buy the Twins and continue to buy more shares of the White Sox did he ? Every year that goes by brings us closer to new ownership and a possible ascension into being a real big league team again. It would be nice to think that Getz is putting in enough ground floor work to modernize the team and rebuild the infrastructure to get a new regime off to a good start. It'll take a few years to see if the restructuring of the International Department and building a new DR Academy and hiring David Keller will produce better results bringing in better talent from the Dominican Republic. That was a huge failure in every single year of JRs tenure as owner while Domincans have been flourishing in baseball for over 50 years. If you can name a single Dominican the Sox signed and became an All Star with the Sox you'd be the first because I'm pretty sure that player doesn't exist. So let's not pretend that how this franchise has been run into the ground has nothing to do with mismanagement and policies that have been in place for many many many years by the only guy who has been in charge the whole time.
  13. He doesn't know. It just sounds good to speak in generalizations about planting landmines and forgetting where he put them. He doesn't know any decisions Getz made. He just knows the Sox became very bad very quickly and Getz came out the other side unscathed . However we are starting to learn things he's been doing, the people he fired, the people he hired, rebuilding infrastructure with all that it entails. These things are conveniently forgotten because many were just made and we have no idea how it'll turn out. I'd like to think hiring Bannister led to the ultimate rise of Crochet as a starting pitcher which led to a strong trade eventually. I've seen enough evidence that this is true. Good things are happening even with incompetent Chris Getz in charge. But I suppose 6 TJ surgeries will end up his fault too sooner or later .
  14. Well I'm glad that you're making an attempt at this but I think me and West Eddy just piss people off because no matter how sound your arguments are people don't buy the bad luck stuff mainly because having best players who are expected to produce who are almost always injured is not just bad luck it's expected bad luck so somehow you have to magically find their projected WAR out of thin air .Doesn't matter to all the fans that Getz inherited these players. While he was Director of Player Personell and Asst.GM he should have waved his magic wand and made them less susceptible to injury even though he likely had nothing to do with trading for them or extending them. All these arguments are nothing new to the ones you're discussing this with. They just refuse to look at it that way. You're not allowed to say hey yea Getz shouldn't have been hired but he was and at least he's made some moves that an outside hire may have made. But the Sox were a dumpster fire way before Getz became GM and his other jobs too. The previous rebuild just never had much of a chance to succeed without players who developed into strong consistent professionals. All the fans here were constantly projecting Eloy to start having 40 HR seasons or were fooled by 2019 bouncy ball stats (Moncada) or sticky tack stats (Giolito) a cool SS (Anderson) or Vaughn's "generational talent" are embarrassed for having put their faith in these players and the FO and owner. The terrible record so soon after the collapse coincided with the collapse of Intl scouting, drafting and development, injuries , labor issues and a worldwide pandemic all on top of an organizational house of cards is now thrust at the feet of Getz and in a years time he hasn't managed to make the Sox win like at all. Good hires, rebuilding things in intl scouting or R &D , getting new toys for development , improving the farm system, all these things pale in comparison to letting Jesse Chavez walk or trading Mena or God knows what else everyone seems to focus on. No one wants to hear it. They just want one neat little package of blame to belong to Getz and JR. Optimism and hope and searching for silver linings is for children. You must raise your spears against the evil that has transpired and led to this abomination . You're either with us or you're against us. 😡 🔪🐖🐗
  15. He already has a lot of pitches he can throw. They have to find the best mix of pitches he can throw most effectively for strikes. I think I saw his last outing was 3 scoreless innings but he walked 3 so that's flirting with disaster. They'll probably try to improve command with different grips or different pitches like that kick changeup Davis Martin learned. On the job training and see if he can adapt quickly. More on the kick change if you haven't seen it before https://blogs.fangraphs.com/davis-martin-and-matt-bowman-break-down-the-kick-change/
  16. Apparently a lot of fans were embarrassed to near death by that record . So don't ask me ask them. There was no way 2024 was going to be anything but bad once we knew there wasn't going to be any spending and I said as much either in Dec of 2023 or January of 2024. Apparently a lot of fans believed Jerry's forked tongue about a quick turnaround even when he knew he wasn't going to spend anything or when Getz was trying to figure out how to sell something to the fans so basically said we'll bring in nice guys change the culture and play defense. You seem to be one of the most bitter and I get it. I never did expect much from Reinsdorf so I don't feel like I was fooled or betrayed. Most of my adult life the Sox have had terrible teams. 2005 was the one exception in 100 years . I'm not really expecting another World Series win in my lifetime. I've enjoyed my Chicago sports experience. I got to see the Bears win the Superbowl, the Sox win a World Series, the Bulls win 6 championships and the Blackhawks win 3 Stanley Cups. I got to see a lot of good players from my earliest sports memories of listening to Bulls and Blackhawks games on the radio hearing about Bobby Hull and Chet Walker and Bob Love , Sayers and Butkus, even the brutal collapse of the '69 Cubs. All the Championships were won after I left Chicago in 1980 so I never experienced them as a Chicagoan except in my heart and going to an ALCS game against the Angels in Anaheim in 2005. As a fan I just don't get too wrapped up in winning or losing. Of course I like winning teams a lot more but I know Reinsdorf is the the latest in a long line of Sox owners who always claimed to not have enough money to compete so it is what it is. Now I just look at the players and look for some successes and nice guys. I enjoy it more that way.Nothing to get truly upset about.
  17. Sox are better at identifying pitching talent because it's more readily available and it's talent from a system that's known for identifying talent but it has nothing to do with the OF so why ask ? Look I'm not trusting you to keep quiet if the Sox break that record again.Your pitchfork will be sharper than ever so stop acting like it would be no big deal to you. I don't think a day goes by without sounding like the Sox killed your puppy .
  18. Why should it ? Who earned it ? Apparently you want them to set another loss record.
  19. 6 in a 2 or 3 month period will do that.
