Gonna call you Caulfield, Jr. if you keep talking about run differential. Sox will be on the wrong side of it when all is said and done this year. But maybe they can avoid monsterosly long losing streaks this year. -

For everyone who was worried the SP and RP would be worse early indications are both maybe better. I won't take any victory laps yet but I did defend the pitchers early when Getz was assembling them . Might be different when the weather warms up and we see how the arms hold up. RP is a crapshoot every outing when dealing with scrap heap, although semi targeted , acquisitions. -

Easily could be 4-0 .Neither the SP nor RP has been bad. Hittings been a yo-yo 2 good 2 bad. -

Or he was targeted for 2 reasons, Cost and Bannister likes him. I know you don't like coaches acting as scouts but I'm giving Bannister a lot of leeway. The guy is a pitching scientist -

No fielder has to have a direct path to the ball. The runner has to make the adjustment just like he's out if he gets hit by a groundball or line drive. -

What the heck was Slater doing ? Umps don't make the call until later. Idiots all over the place lol. Takes a hit away from Lee. Do 1st base coaches not remind players that there are 2 outs so run on contact ? -

There was something Harold said about him forgetting game plans in a future Future Sox thread yesterday but that's unsubstantiated. I countered with it didn't seem to hurt Burke went he started game one and a lot of times how you pitch depends on situations. A lot of it is knowing hitters which is what the game plan is for but you use you gut a lot too with the game plan in mind . -
You don't want Lee playing more than Thaiss ? Or you just take umbrage with me calling Thaiss this year's version of Maldonado ? He is in many ways . Better hitter and catcher but still here for a year and to get rid of at the trade deadline if possible.

I think the main reason you rarely see it is there's a lot more swing and miss in todays game than there used to be. It's fine when you make contact but it can backfire like most any designed play .Executed perfectly it's great when you hit the ball to the spot the fielder just left. -

Stone making a joke about not having seen one appealf of called balls and strikes goes completely over Schiffs head. His old partner doing Tigers games now would have got it. -

Maton says FU and I told you he has power. You have much to learn young Padawan. -
To be fair you're scouting one game through an app and you don't see an MLB pitcher because he isn't one . I'm pretty sure that's why he's in the minors.

There are a lot of different ways to call a game, pitch to hitters weaknesses along with your own strengths as a pitcher, then there's game situations and strategies with matchups and open bases and outs . He did fine in the opener.Burke did fine pitching to him and he got a hustle hit. He still should be getting a good 65-70 % of the PT over Thaiss. We got McKinvin to improve our catchers didn't we ? Ultimately you want the guy with power, speed ,years and perhaps a valuable trade piece playing more than this year's version of Maldonado.

But we are trying to establish Sosa and Vargas as legitimate hitters and they can't do that playing splitting time. They understand this about Vargas. Sosa ended 2024 well, played and tore up VZL over the winter. Hot well in ST and been stinging the ball with high exit velocities along with a HR in the previous 2 games. Maybe just an off day but I need to see him more too. -

Dude we got some new coaches. I'm not expecting miracles or anything but Maton hit 3 HRs in ST . He obviously has some power. Not sure who youre advocating to play where exactly . You don't want Maton or Jankowski or Slater or Taylor so who do you want leading off and DHing. Give me your ideal lineup against a RH sinkerballer who gets a lot ground alls buy doesn't K many. I'll help you out a little .Emphasize , OBP speed and contact. Do some stealing and hit and runs if he's going to be throwing pitches in the dirt. I prefer Lee over Thaiss but I can name 5 key reasons why despite Thaiss being LH having the strong side Platoon advantage over the RH Lee. Lee is younger but still a prospect with power who can also run well. He needs to play and try to establish some value a lot more than Thaiss does because.. Keel and Quero are coming. If Lee establishes some power,OBP, improves his hit tool , K rate and defensive value he'll be worth way more as a trade piece than Thaiss ever will. Imagine if he can manage to hit .250 with 10 HRs at the TDL and continue to gun down runners. Now catching is overflowing with talent.
