QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 10:15 AM) JJ Stankevitz @JJStankevitz 3m3 minutes ago What can the #WhiteSox make of Avisail Garcia's fast start to spring training? On @CSNChicago: http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/what-c...s-strong-spring … The most important aspect of the fast start is that it will reinforce to Avi that the corrections made to his stance will work. If you make change and don't see results you will start thinking the changes were wrong. Avi is a big guy who has always hit like a slap hitter throwing his bat at a lot of pitches as if he always had 2 strikes on him. But when he hit a hanging breaking ball and it goes 450 feet you could see the power potential. If he is seeing the ball better and it helps him recognize pitches , make harder contact and lay off the crap pitchers throw him then he will improve greatly. The early results are encouraging but nothing to get excited about yet.

Good to see Hawkins get a sac fly against a tough righty like Ventura to get Frazier home after he doubled.

QUOTE (PorkChopExpress @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 01:09 PM) Don't Lawrie and Ventura have some issues with each other? Yes. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2435365...ng-brett-lawrie

Nuts ! Was hoping to see Avi in the lineup today since he's 0-12 lifetime against Ventura . Figured I might get a better gauge of Avi's new stance against someone he hasn't had success against in the past. Not that one game would mean much or the small sample size of the past AB's but just as a curiosity.

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 12, 2016 -> 11:22 AM) I'm really hoping Cabrera. He was basically signed to solve our 2 hole problem. Melky has also been less effective against lefties . Personally I'd like to see Avi there if he can keep hitting especially against a lefty and also because he uses right field a lot so with a runner on 1st he has a better chance getting to 3rd. Also because of his speed I'd anticipate less double plays.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 11, 2016 -> 01:47 PM) I don't like seeing Alexei in another uniform. Is this on free webcast? I clicked the link on whitesox.com but got the mlbsubscriber stuff. Thhere's no link for it in this thread like there usually is.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 11, 2016 -> 06:51 AM) You have to plan on Latos missing starts. You should also plan on Sale having a dead arm period as well. That is without random luck. Having Turner and Johnson ready to go is a big deal. Right . No one should be expecting much from Latos but if we get it watch out !

QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Mar 11, 2016 -> 06:01 AM) One more thing on Brett Lawrie. His surname is pronounced like the name "Laurie," now "Lowry." This confusion alone is enough to make me regret signing him; I hear people getting it wrong more often than not. Hopefully once the game broadcasts start up this'll be rectified? Even more confusion since you probably meant to say NOT Lowry instead of NOW Lowry .

White Sox HR totals should get a big boost this year
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sands, Saladino, Davidson and Lawrie all went deep today in the 2 games,Sands and Davidson went oppo while Saladino and Lawrie's were both bombs. Saladino, Davidson and Lawrie all have 2 HR's now to lead the team. -
While I'm generally optimistic in the spring, relying on oft injured, old and cheap pickups doesn't generate much hope for a playoff berth. Defense might still be a problem but the starting lineup is more solid as is the bench and bullpen. I see improvement to 84 wins but missing the playoffs unless we have good luck with injuries and Rodon can emerge along with one bat doing better than expected (Lawrie, Avi are my choices). Help might also come before the trade deadline.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 10, 2016 -> 02:28 PM) Holy s***! You are the Zen master of multi-tasking! I know it's ST and all but it's great to see Avi hitting and collecting extra base hits. I really hope he makes the naysayers like myself eat my off season words. Please Avi, make me eat my words and expose me for a fool. I was excited as hell when the Sox traded for Lawrie and its nice to see his power potential on display early on. If he stays healthy I think he's got 25 HR's in him, easily. I love his bat speed! My old desktop died and I lost all all my music on I tunes so have to reload over 300 CD's, probably more if I ever load jazz and classical and all other strange CD's I have. Hated losing all the music I stole from youtube , most likely over 1000 songs with a youtube to mp3 converter. Would have taken forever with the Elitebooks CD drive so bought the external one to speed up the process. I'm with ya on Avi since i was a big supporter of him until 2015 sucked the support from me. He's not even really that bad of a fielder. I think the injury hurt him a lot hitting and fielding.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Mar 10, 2016 -> 02:22 PM) B Team getting wrecked Catcher Drew Butera generously gets an inside the park HR when Coats misses a gap drive and Leury proceeds to look like Dayan Viciedo picking it up and having it fly out of his hand behind him. 7 run inning on 5 hits. Royal 9-2 in the 7th. Damage done against relievers who won't make the team.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Mar 10, 2016 -> 01:18 PM) Mine can't even run a stream for more then 5 seconds with it jumping around and stopping and changing quality levels. I swear MLBTV gets worse every year when it should be getting better I'm Ok with it. My son sent me an older HP Elitebooks laptop but loaded it with Windows 10. It's not HD but should it be. I'm happy enough just to be watching the game. I got the game window open plus game day for both games and Soxtalk and it's still coming in good. Also I-tunes open and running an external disc drive. Sox turn a triple play on fly out to Coats in LF with runners from 1st and 2nd on the move.

Sox defense evens score at 1. Misjudged outfield pop up falls when it shouldn't have. Leury Garcia broke back so bad jump and attempted diving catch by Shuck unsuccessful. Then WP and throw into LF by Hector Sanchez scored the run. Single by Gordon ends Fulmers day. 2 1/3 innings 1 run so far, 1 BB 2 K. Nick Turley in to pitch.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Mar 10, 2016 -> 12:35 PM) No idea how Davidson hit that ball out to RF with such a pull swing. Cespedes hits the same way if you're referring to opening the hips but if you can adjust your swing and keep the bat longer in the zone you can oppo it. Funny both games at once . Fulmer with 2 scoreless innings vs. Royals. Sands with a HR against Rangers. Carlos Sanchez anither XBH ,his SLG and OPS must be off the charts so far.
