  1. So, a question for you all: I know it's highly unlikely that he'll sign given his commitment to Texas, but who knows when you throw some money at a kid. Anyways, do you think our current Outfield depth would help or hurt our chances of signing him? Would he be scared off that he wouldn't be the 'top guy' in our system? To note, I would be ecstatic if we could sign him.
  2. QUOTE(ARow33 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) kENNY SAID HES ONLY GOING TO MAE A TRADE THAT HELPS THE SHORT TERM AS WELL AS LONG TERM. Ah, but see, someone who would mainly play 1B doesn't help us short term does it?
  3. See, any trade made during this season isn't about next year. It's about this year.
  4. IIRC, Hillenbrand was a bit of a mess defensively, but I'm not sure.
  5. I'd take Uribe over Miles any day. Miles=journeyman and a byproduct (and not even that good of a byproduct) of Coors field Uribe=Decent SS who has a good shot at being a solid everyday player And, not to mention, Uribe can play 2B, 3B, and SS, whereas Miles can only play 2B.

  7. Come on, we all know he's just "flying under the radar".
  8. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 07:19 PM) If you want to see minor league scrubs who can't make it in the NHL, fine with me. I'll stick with Ruutu, Vandermeer, McCarthy, Arny, Calder, and Bell, along with the influx of guys like Seabrook and Barker. Owner aside -- yes, we realize he's s***, but for the first time in awhile, this team is cleared of crappy veterans like Korolev and Krapotsev. b**** at Wirtz all you want, but leave the players out of it, 'cause they're much more fun than watching AAAA scrubs. To mirror what NUKE said, I really don't care that they are AAAA scrubs. I'm a casual fan (if that), and the NHL and AHL are both pretty darn good hockey in my eyes, because I'm just that, a casual fan. I don't care that they are not the best out there; they are still pretty good, and more importantly, they win. Everything is more fun when you win. I'd much rather watch a team of "scrubs" in the playoffs every year than a team of NHL players sitting at home in April and May again. However, I will concede that to diehards, they would much rather have the NHL since they like the higher level of play.
  9. Perhaps I'm forgetting some key moment this season, but when did Timo play first base?
  10. Wow, that's some messed up stuff. On a side note, since when do they have murderers in Canada?
  11. I really like that pick of Danks in a late round, even if it's highly unlikely he'll sign. Since they draft safe picks early, here's hoping they can get something done with Danks. I'd be ecstatic if they did.
  12. Hey look, we drafted Vince Carter.
  13. I have nothing against Mathematic Competitions. In fact, I'm all for them. However, I think showing them on ESPN2 is a bit...meh.
  14. At least the Spelling Bee is a well known commodity, and I'm fine with it being on ESPN2...Mathcounts finals, however...:|
  15. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 10:04 PM) Friend of mine's brother was in the world Series, Ted Rosinski on UIC. His dad was also the 4th pick overall of the Cubs in 1976. Isn't there a Rosinski somewhere up on the North Shore doing pretty well? I read something about him on the Trib or the internet somewhere, I forget where.
  16. Some sort of math finals are on ESPN 2, complete with commentators and everything. So far, my favorite quote has been: "The winner will win a scholarship, a trip to space camp in Alabama, and a computer!"
  17. Is Lynn that big kid? I remember a Brownsburg in the LLWS a few years ago with a big kid named Lynn as their ace...is that him?
  18. Gimme an AIM name and I'll IM ya'll.
  19. Alright, maybe it's just me, but I'd like to see the Sox take a flier on Danks. And Jas, in re-payment for compeltely blowing that earlier assignment (the work piled on me), I'll do whatever bios you need. I'm about to start summer now, so the work is non existent.
  20. To answer the Bowden question, I'd say late 1st/Supplemental, however, I could see early 2nd round as well. And leave the thread here.
  21. With their second pick in the first round, the Marlins select Outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury.
  22. Yeah, each team has two minutes to make their pick in the first round.
  23. Plus, they may just want to see how the public responds to something completely new.
