QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 11:24 AM) There were two calls last night that I thought had a big impact. The charge against Wisconsin with about 10 seconds left in the first half (Gasser maybe?). Going to the replay, Dakich was preparing a lecture about extending your arm, then corrected himself when no arm was extended. The second was the and 1 Yogi Ferrell got that I think was Jackson's 4th foul. Jackson didn't touch him, but Ferrell simulated contact and got the call (I think Yogi Ferrell may have spent the offseason at the Brandon Paul School for Selling Contact). Other than that (and a couple no calls against Wisconsin early in the game), I thought it was pretty consistent both ways. On Indiana, I've been impressed by Robinson's development and Yogi Ferrell is a beast. If Robinson continues to give Indiana a viable 3rd or 4th scoring option, they will be dangerous this year. Agreed that the two calls your mentioned went IU's way. But as you mentioned, there were some no-calls against Wisconsin earlier, and Yogi also got clobbered at the rim later in the second half and it wasn't called. That's why I never fault the refs for a win or a loss. It goes both ways, and you can't try to hang your hat on that. Also agreed on Yogi's flopping. Drives me nuts. I actually kind of hoped that the one time when he did an obvious flop, didn't get the call and the Badgers got an easy layup he would ease up on the flopping, but alas, a few minutes later he was back at it again. But although he took some poor shots, Yogi put the team on his back when it counted. Beasting this year, especially in conference play. -
Justified was kickass last night.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 14, 2014 -> 10:20 PM) Farmteam, Correct me if wrong but Olidapo and Zeller were 1st NBA draft picks. You said at the Hoosiers' "lowest" so I talked about the 08-09, 09-10 and 10-11 squads. Zeller was never there during that time period. And I don't think Oladipo was even sniffing a draft board after 10-11 (his freshman year). I don't even know what point you're trying to make anymore. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jan 14, 2014 -> 09:57 PM) That was one of the most ridiculous floor rushes ever. It was not legit whatsoever. Yes it was. We're just going to disagree on this one. I said it at the time and I'll say it again, but people outside the school didn't understand how much that win meant for the program. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 14, 2014 -> 09:25 PM) I hate rushing the court elitism. They're college kids. Let them have fun. If they just beat Savannah State by 40 and want to rush the court than so be it. Eh, it's not elitism, but I'm the biggest hypocrite in the world on this point because I've rushed the court at Indiana against not-exactly-elite Illinois and Minnesota teams (though I maintain the Illinois rush was legit. The Minnesota one was dumb and I only did it because if I didn't I legitimately would have been trampled.). I just think that hey, we're supposed to be back competing for the top of again, we're not down on our luck anymore, it's time to act like it. Kinda as if rushing the court against Kentucky was the pinnacle, and after that it was not enough to just rush the court because it was a monumental program win -- it had to be a legit, #1 team win. But like I said I'm a hypocrite on this point. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 14, 2014 -> 09:21 PM) Even at their lowest Indiana is full of players that are supposedly more talented than Wisconsin. I get taht you guys like to make excuses for Crean, but lets be honest you had Zeller etc, you should have won more, especially at home. What are you talking about? In 08-09, Indiana had ONE returning scholarship player, and that guy was a redshirt senior former walk on who had a grand total of 34 points. The best recruit was Verdell Jones III, ranked #126. You seriously trying to claim anyone considered Wisconsin less talented than that? The next two years were also awful. 09-10 was the freshman year for Hulls, Watford, etc. A good win over a decent Pitt team, but that's it. 10-11 was the freshman year for Oladipo and Sheehey, who were athletic but raw. Trying to claim Wisconsin had less talent than any of those teams is laughable. And since when do I make excuses for Crean? I was questioning him all game long today. The zone, the decision to put in Etherington for Vonleh, calling a timeout after Yogi's free throws put us up 2...he was driving me nuts. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 14, 2014 -> 09:03 PM) I mean Indiana beat an undefeated team who they havent beat in 6 years. I know Crean thinks Indiana is "special", but this may be the only time those kids see Indiana beat Wisconsin through out their college career. Let them have some fun. Just dont tell me Indiana is a more elite program than Wisconsin, the last 2 times Indiana beat them they rushed the court. The last 10+ times Wisconsin did, no one cared. Because rushing the court against a 1-15 or 3-13 or 4-12 conference team makes a lot of sense. That's why the streak to Wisconsin was bad and bothered me somewhat, but not terribly because it was kind of hollow in that most of those wins were against the awful Indiana teams. Everyone was beating IU and had long streaks against us. It wasn't exactly hard. It's why our graduating class has the dubious distinction of enjoying the absolute worst 4-year stretch in IU basketball history. The class behind us was supposed to take the title, but we surprisingly became good one year earlier than expected. And the last time IU beat Wisconsin, IU was unranked while Wisconsin was ranked 2nd, 21-1 overall and 7-0 in the Big Ten, so that's more coincidence than anything else. -

Hoosiers! And why the hell are you rushing the court. Stop it. With the possible exception of beating a #1 team, students should not rush the court anymore. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 13, 2014 -> 04:45 PM) Wait, how is that reasonable in states where women have really restrictive abortion options or where abortions are de facto illegal or unobtainable? The woman doesn't have the "opt out" ability in that circumstance, but a man would. It only becomes arguably reasonable if women have at least as long as men to decide and widespread, affordable and easily accessible access to abortion. To be fair to Duke, he called women's abortion laws "crappy state laws" so presumably he would want women to have a term as reasonable as the 90-day male term.

Iowa State took its first lead on that layup because Wiggins was too busy whining about not getting the foul. You're not in the NBA yet, kid. Also it was kind of awkward just now when they said Mayor Ann Montgomery and then showed a dude. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 13, 2014 -> 08:09 AM) It was great, especially the smile on Franks face when he got his wine enema. I found it kind of odd that Ian was talked about multiple times but never shown, whereas Lip was constantly part of the story. I haven't heard anything either way, but I'm assuming Ian will be a regular as the season goes on, this just wasn't his episode. I was more surprised how big of a deal they were making about Mickey missing him.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 12, 2014 -> 08:59 PM) Good premiere, Shameless. Lip is such an underrated tv character. Lip's great, my favorite character on the show. Very good premiere. Had me laughing out loud several times.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 09:54 AM) TSA pre-check dude. I get to the airport, walk right to my gate, get on plane, 40 min later land in Minny. So fast. You make that trip often? So easy, so quick.

Happy the Hoosiers got their first B1G win, especially on the road. Maybe they can pull one out of their ass and snap the Wisconsin streak on Tuesday, eh eh? -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 8, 2014 -> 06:30 PM) The fact they've never been connected by any transit immediately makes them suck. Well if you consider buses "any transit" then they've been connected for a long time. But light rail will be easier, quicker and more direct. If I can't get anyone to drive me, I'll take the light rail to the airport. So easy.
-
The Twin Cities are rapidly expanding its light rail system. The connecting the downtowns of St. Paul and Minneapolis opens this year.

Justified premiere was great. It had everything I love about the show -- Raylan getting involved in some backwoods trouble, and Boyd being a bona fide badass.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 7, 2014 -> 10:32 PM) I'm not hot, I've seen college Bball before and there was a reason MSU was favored. Frankly we came out of this with a huge positive. Still a gay chant no matter how good your one year was. OSU has been to 10 times the number of BCS bowls. Chanting anything about football is comical. I don't really like cross-sport chants. But the point remains. They had a better year than you, it just sounds like sour grapes. Not a big deal. Maybe it's cause my team is historically awful, but I'm pretty much forced to be "live in the now" in regards to college football. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 7, 2014 -> 10:27 PM) f*** had it. Cute chant MSU. Really impressed by your ONE BCS game. You're just hot right now, but you gotta give them their due for football. They finished their year on a high note, you didn't. Big deal. -

IU still shooting only 33.1% from 3 for the year, but 46.9% (15/32) through the first two conference games. I prefer the latter number. As usual, the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
