I wish the NHL played on Olympic sized ice. Too bad that won't happen. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 09:45 AM) Let's see if the AD has the balls to make a change or wait until it's 2 years too late like Guenther. Next year will be that defining year IMO. He's still getting recruits, but at least so far, those recruits aren't panning out. I don't see them being much better next year unless Vonleh stays, Ferrill stops making awful turnovers (and flopping non-stop) and some of their big recruits can make an impact. No idea what he'll do in regards to Crean, but I am pretty happy with Glass overall. I don't think Crean was hired by Glass, either. If I remember the timeline right, Crean was hired by the Board of Trustees in early April 2008, and Glass was hired shortly thereafter. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 10:21 AM) So does that mean his buyout after the 2015-2016 season ends is $1 million? So there's a $7 million savings if he is the coach for the next 2 seasons compared to if he's only the coach for the next 1 season? So that buys him 2 full seasons after this one. I can tolerate that. Next year would be put or shut up time for him, but if it really is a $7 million savings, then he's definitely getting the next two years (unless Mellencamp or Cook REALLY want him gone and pony up the cash!). If we are at in two years where we are right now, see ya. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 08:23 AM) I've officially found 2 "World of beer" locations and I can't recommend that place highly enough. Anyone else ever found one? There's one in Evanston. I had a good time there.

I'm with Brian on this one. I think it favors the defensive team more to not have a set play. And you're ugly. -

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha. All I can do is laugh. I've never seen a team try to lose as hard as we just did. Congratulations, success! -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 12, 2014 -> 09:23 AM) Something by Jeff Lynne, Joe Walsh and Dhani Harrison was just awesome. The Let it Be duet between Alicia Keys and John Legend was surprisingly good. The sets by Ringo and Paul were vintage and awesome. Those were my two favorites as well.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 12, 2014 -> 06:59 AM) People all over the Midwest who are going to Florida for Spring Break plan their trips around avoiding rush hour in Atlanta. Yeah, we drove through Atlanta at about 3 am.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Feb 12, 2014 -> 09:09 AM) Didn't think of that but that makes a ton of sense, actually. Me neither, but it does. Definitely didn't notice that in the True Detective scene. That's really well done.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 11, 2014 -> 05:17 PM) You're a total outlier. The average viewer wouldn't really pick up on that. I work in TV and have edited for years and I was so entirely consumed and enthralled by the scene that I didn't even realize it was continuous until someone brought it up to me the next day. Yeah now I'm trying to figure out which scene you guys are talking about...

It'd be nice for SIU to pull off the upset tonight. -
QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Feb 10, 2014 -> 01:22 PM) What joke is that? I haven’t kept up with the newer episodes but I catch the reruns on TBS all the time and have really enjoyed it the past few years. I’ve only caught them sporadically but the shows Men At Work and Ground Floor seem pretty funny as well. Men at Work is decent, I really liked Ground Floor. No idea if they're renewing it, though.

My friend's dad's place is right next to where it was supposed to be built. Just a gigantic hole in the ground.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 9, 2014 -> 09:32 PM) Ringo and Paul are still awesome. Alicia Keys and John Legend killed it too. I really enjoyed that. Yeah, that was great. Saw the previews and didn't expect to watch it, but I happened to catch a few minutes early on and got sucked in. True Detective. Wow. What an episode. Shameless. What the hell are you doing, Fiona? And why is everyone surprised when she gets arrested for that? Really want to know what direction Lip is going to take with this. And Ian's not doing so well.

I watch 2 Broke Girls, but I understand your guys' complaints. Not a great show, but fine for a half hour of mindless entertainment. Don't get all the Big Bang Theory hate, though. Solid show. Only negative is that it has gotten a bit more campy the past year or so.

Got to watch the Hoosiers in person last night for the first time in over two years. Would have preferred a win, obviously. The Barn is pretty neat, but man is it cramped in there. -
I like Google's not-so-subtle jab at Russia's laws.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 5, 2014 -> 10:36 PM) Without seeing the stats Id say that makes sense because highly hyped guys are still generally hyped in college. The real question is there a correlation between star ratings and pro bowlers etc. I don't think NFL teams draft based on media hype as much as you're implying. -
Atheist/Agnostic/Secularist/Humanist/Pastafarian Thread

QUOTE (Jake @ Feb 5, 2014 -> 01:12 PM) Yeah, I think that is why folks are trying to reach for other "names" like humanists, secularists, etc. because some atheists are such pricks. Of course, this is just how humans are. We have an evolutionary predilection for groupishness under certain circumstances, which is for instance why some of us become devout fans of a sports team. Similarly, some people will find that in religious or irreligious groups. Groups tend to be good at self-sustenance, but often suck at relating to people outside the group. Interestingly, people who are politically left-liberal tend to test low on the personality traits that predict that sort of groupishness. Instead, they more often think in global terms, feeling a less intense fellowship with everyone instead of intense fellowship with a narrower group of people. This is why some say the Democratic party seems ineffectual or dispassionate compared to the right as well as why there are a lot fewer crazy atheists than there are atheists.[/url] This is really interesting, what sort of studies have there been on this? -

It's not often I agree with Pat Robertson. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 5, 2014 -> 04:00 PM) I dont think its him making bad decisions (Lip) but more around focusing on his apparent knack for self destruction. More around inner demons he needs to face to be successful IMO. Agreed. And yeah, Karen and Jody went to Sedona, Arizona if I remember right. Fiona is starting to piss me off as well. I want Ian to come back, and it looks like he might given the scenes for next week. Re: Justified Oh yes. Great episode. Just killing it. Re: Boardwalk Empire Agree with whoever said (Milkman, I think) season 3 was the best. If I had to rank the seasons in order, it would probably be: 3, 4, 1, 2. I could be persuaded to switch around 1 and 4. 3 is far and away the best, I think.

Should be two straight top 50 classes for Indiana. Lots of defensive help coming in. With the first wave of defensive recruits last year, this will create more competition and depth on the defensive side of the ball than IU has ever seen. If Knorr is competent enough to get the defense even up to mediocre, the offense is good enough to make it a bowl team. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 4, 2014 -> 04:59 PM) Ah, didn't realize Minnesota was top 50. The problem is assuming Illinois does make that run they're fighting with Indiana and OSU for that last spot. And they both have more impressive wins. Indiana's only impressive wins are Michigan and Wisconsin. Both were at home, and that Wisconsin win is looking less and less impressive by the week.
