  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 6, 2014 -> 05:36 PM) Woo, sweet. He's announcing tomorrow night, I think.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 6, 2014 -> 10:53 AM) Its clear to me how talented he is, and I think his production kicks into high gear near the end of the season which will keep him up there. Apparently draft projections average out to Vonleh being picked 8-12.
  3. Cody Latimer going pro. Sadface. Maybe this boosts IU's chances with Dominique Booth. Down to IU and Mizzou.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 6, 2014 -> 09:44 AM) He is still projected as a top 10 pick, if it stays that way he is gone. I thought he had fallen into the 14-20 range. If that's the case, and with a presumably weaker draft class the following year, I could see him staying. But top 10? He should go.
  5. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jan 5, 2014 -> 03:43 PM) Haha that guy is a beast. Think he ends up at UK though. Would think Crean will wait it out a bit and wait for some coaching changes and see who becomes available. Also would be ideal to grab a 5th year transfer from somewhere. They'll be another transfer by years end from a SF/G... Of that I'm sure. I can't see Vonleh staying, but if he does, a very, very big year will be expected again for the team. The way Vonleh has lost a little bit of the hype he was getting early in the year, I wouldn't be surprised if he stays a second year. Wouldn't be surprised either way.
  6. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jan 5, 2014 -> 10:30 AM) Heck of a pick-up for Illinois. Crean was all over the kid, but became fairly obvious he wasn't coming (a lot like Malachi Richardson) when Blackmon re-committed. With Fischer leaving, Crean's main focus has to be on big men. Need them bad with the backcourt of Ferrell, Blackmon, Robinson, and Johnson in the future. Definitely bigs. TJ Leaf and Stephen Zimmerman, yes please. Also Carlton Bragg (isn't he more of a big 3/stretch 4 or am I mixing him up with someone else?).
  7. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 5, 2014 -> 03:17 PM) Yeah, but do you usually hear the announcers during a Super Bowl party? We usually only quiet down for the commercials. Do people throw AFC Championship game parties? I suppose those teams fans' might, but that's it.
  8. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 3, 2014 -> 11:07 AM) SF's works like Google Maps in that it knows your current position. It also knows every possible form of public transportation, its cost, and whether its currently running on schedule or not. It can tell you how to take multiple modes of public transportation to get from A to B in real time, and it's as easy as using Google Navigate on your phone instead of having to go to a website. As far as I know, there isn't something comparable for Chicago. http://tripplanner.transit.511.org/mtc/XSL...ST2?language=en That's pretty neat. There would have to be a pretty big push to raise awareness, though.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 4, 2014 -> 02:41 PM) MSU is just so physical. I didn't expect to win so it doesn't hurt that much, but man the offense looked terrible. At least the defense looked good, especially in the first half.
  10. Dan Snyder continues to be disgusting.
  11. I didn't expect Emery to be able to produce an 80% new offensive line that wasn't half-terrible, but he did. I'll give him a little faith to get the d-line right, too.
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 3, 2014 -> 12:49 PM) One of them just posted a link to an article that some Minnesota schools have canceled school for Monday already because of the expected temperature with the words "hint, hint Illinois!" It could get as bad as -40 with -60 windchill here, worse further North. Not sure what Illinois is supposed to be like. I have some teachers I know, but none of them are too bad about bragging about their breaks. The worst are the people that live in Southern California and always post screenshots of their weather apps. "Oh look, it's 66 in January, a little chilly!"
  13. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 09:30 PM) Oh, so the only way to judge players in based on their playoff successes, apparently. Romo and Cutler only have 1 playoff win each. So they both are clearly awful quarterbacks. Joe Flacco, on the other hand, he has a ring, so he's obviously much better. Got it. This conversation was over before it even started. Wow you like to move goalposts. If I was picking one of those three for a fantasy team, I'd pick Romo. If I was picking one to give me a ring, I'd pick Flacco.
  14. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 05:07 PM) Yeah that's my takeaway. How exactly is this different than the lady that got fired for making an offensive joke? You are the representative of a corporation and if they don't like it they get rid of you, regardless of whether what you say is good or bad. I also agree with the comment that as soon as Kluwe starting getting recognition for speaking out it became more about him than gay rights. His article just confirms that. I thought from the beginning that at the end of the day it was a football move -- Kluwe was going to make too much money to be an average punter. But from the Vikings' perspective, I'm sure getting rid of supposed distractions wasn't a bad thing. In general I like Kluwe, though he does tend to give off too much of the "arrogant moralist" vibe. He doesn't want to just beat you in an argument about marriage equality, he wants to make sure you know he's smarter than you while you're doing it. That said, if Preifer actually said those things, he's f***ed. In this cultural/media environment, even civilly disagreeing with marriage equality will draw some ire. Saying we should send all the gays to an island and then nuke it til it glows? That's not going to end well for him...nor should it.
  15. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 31, 2013 -> 04:02 PM) If you bought the gun I'd hope you just put a few rounds through it at the range. Just so you have an idea of how/if it works. Truth. If you're gonna have one, know how to use it.
  16. What a game. Yogi Ferrell was in beast mode, except for the couple times he decided to be a moron (laser pass off the backboard?). Also, didn't see the problem with the foul on the inbounds. Rice (I think?) turned his body into him, with arms, to cut Yogi off.
  17. Hey, maybe this will give me an excuse to do something in Target Field besides drink Premiums! Probably not. Worley is garbage. Diamond was good two years ago, but not so hot last year (was sent down to AAA at one point, IIRC). Deduno has decent stuff. Gibson hasn't really done anything. DeVries was injured all of last year, he might make a decent 5th starter yet, but that's his ceiling.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 30, 2013 -> 10:45 PM) I guess he deserves some credit for his self confidence. If he's willing to play another position, I guarantee he'd get a job in the NFL, but he persists that he is a quarterback. Might make a decent Safety.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 30, 2013 -> 07:02 PM) Was this his first year? My googling didn't give me that impression but wasn't that detailed. Yeah, Freshman.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 30, 2013 -> 06:54 PM) Aw Hell. ESPN hires Tim Tebow as a College Sports analyst. Don't worry, he said on Twitter he's still be following his dream to be an NFL quarterback.
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 30, 2013 -> 04:20 PM) His draft history with the Bears leaves a lot to be desired. You have some big hits (Jeffrey / Long / Mills) and also some big misses (Shea / Hardin / Greene / Bostic / Evan Rodriguez). Pretty silly to call Bostic a miss after one season.
  22. QUOTE (Boogua @ Dec 30, 2013 -> 02:44 PM) Luke Fischer withdrew from IU. Weird. Wonder where he tries to transfer to. Strange, especially midyear. Homesick, maybe?
  23. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 30, 2013 -> 02:33 PM) I personally couldn't care less but it'll certainly be a gigantic story if it's true. About sums up my thoughts. And I agree with Shack, he'd be a good advocate. But it wouldn't be fair to thrust him into that role.
  24. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 01:16 PM) I really wish CP wasn't in our division. That dude is going to run circles around us for years. The run he had against the Lions today was truly special. He's also a prime example of why you don't let the most physically talented freak who also has the best vision in the draft (at a skill position nonetheless) fall as far as he did. Lots of teams are going to be regretting that. I don't care if he doesn't know the playbook. He's a great kid and coaches love him. You can always find a way to make that work. Agreed. Best midseason fantasy pickup I've had since Tim Hightower's rookie year. Living in Minneapolis I see Patterson a lot. He's special.
