  1. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 13, 2013 -> 09:30 PM) I love that Bilas calls refs out for not knowing what a charge is. Yeah. Clark Kellogg was doing the same thing during the Indiana-Michigan game this past Sunday.
  2. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Mar 13, 2013 -> 07:46 PM) My personal guess is MSU, but not many teams would surprise me. Also true.
  3. QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 13, 2013 -> 06:45 PM) Africa and Asia are growing at a greater rate. Knew Africa was, didn't know that Asia. Interesting. What country/area, mostly?
  4. Who's gonna win the BTT? My money is on...well, one of two teams. If Ohio State beats Michigan State, I think Indiana would beat Ohio State (a little spark after getting spanked in Assembly Hall perhaps). If Michigan State beats Ohio State, I think MSU beats Indiana. Hard to beat a team three times in one year. This is assuming Indiana forgets that Wisconsin is Hoosier Kryptonite. Though, if Michigan beats Wisconsin, then the "hard to beat a team three times rule" would apply there too. And for my last prediction...none of these predictions will be correct.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 12, 2013 -> 09:27 PM) New Trier had lots of fight and got hot during a few spurts. I think the supersectional is still farther than they made it any of my four years.
  6. How in the hell is New Trier only down 6 to Simeon with 3:41 left?
  7. I wish the Indiana/Illinois games had a cool name, like the "Wabash River Rivalry" or something.
  8. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 12, 2013 -> 10:16 AM) I don't think his numbers show that. He played more minutes and so his numbers went up, but his shooting percentages were down. Starting with the game in West Lafayette in February 2012, he started taking the ball up top a lot more and handing it, which he never did before that.
  9. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 12, 2013 -> 09:10 AM) How many times does a player make a jump from good athlete to national player of the year in one season? Not very many. That's the definition of a fluke. No one, including Crean, would have ever thought he could play at that level. And as I explained before, I'm not sure the areas where he jumped can be attributable to coaching, though I did concede that Crean probably gets credit for his basketball IQ, which is very high. He didn't make it one season, though. He improved as much between his freshman and sophomore years as he did between sophomore and junior.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 11, 2013 -> 10:29 PM) It's a valid question. That's a scholly they probably want to bank. For next year, we're currently 3 over if everyone were to say. I'd be shocked if Oladipo doesn't leave, so there's 1. I'd be surprised, though not totally stunned, if Zeller returned, so there's 2. Seems likely Creek could leave (severely limited by his injuries, he's graduated, just became a father), so that would be 3. Even if all three of those don't happen, there's enough possibilities that I'm sure it will be under control. Not as sure about the years after that, and there's too many variables to really figure it out.
  11. No problem with Burke winning. Great year.

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 11, 2013 -> 05:39 AM) Love Shameless, but that was way to easy of an ending last night to keep the house. The whole V, Kevin, and mom thing is so icky but I can't stop laughing. Periscope down. I laughed out loud at "Periscope down." Kevin also had another good line with "Be careful, Frank. You're gonna wake up and find your dick in a ziploc in his freezer." The entire scene in the down syndrome family support group was absolute money.
  13. Haven't seen a college baseball thread, but had to mention this somewhere... Indiana Baseball Cracks Top 25 For First Time Ever
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 11, 2013 -> 04:33 PM) I dont see the "Hulls is a good defender" point at all. I see him as one of their largest weaknesses on defense. Hulls and Yogi make them incredibly vulnerable to teams with good physical guard play. Yogi's actually gotten a lot better on the defensive end over the course of the year. You may not think that because of the Ohio St-IU game last week, but that really was the anomaly for Yogi.
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 11, 2013 -> 03:23 PM) If you go back and look at my posts at the beginning of this thread I said exactly that from experience. But outside of IU being much improved the rest of the conference isnt all that much tougher if at all than last season. OSU is down compared to the Final Four team and yet will be the number 2 seed in the tourney, MSU is a little down and UM is very young. IU should have run away with this season if their talent level was really what was expected. Having a preseason NPOY and a guy who is in the running for it now should guarantee you a #1 seed and frankly should have made the title easy to win. After seeing them early in the season I expected a team much like my 10-11 buckeyes that had one or two stumbles but tore through everyone else. I was really surprised not to see that, especially late in the year. Personally I think they were either really overrated to begin the year or they underachieved in some way. The problem is they can do it when they want to, they're just not consistent. They way they played in Columbus? Fantastic. I wish they could play a half court game like that all the time. I really do think that Indiana at its best is better than any other team at its best this year. The problem is doing it for 6 games straight.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 11, 2013 -> 03:07 PM) Zeller was the preseason NPOY favorite and isnt even in the conversation. I would say that he had a disappointing year for what was expected. I do wonder how much NPOY discussion Zeller would be getting with even only a quarter of the preseason hype. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Zeller deserves to be NPOY. Just a lot of the negativity he gets was based on the fact that he didn't come out and blow everyone away.
  17. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Mar 11, 2013 -> 02:34 PM) Thanks for the info. I wonder how many schools actually have a "wait list" for tickets/can't get every game. It's a huge reason you have a great home court advantage, roughly half the place is students that are active. In the words of Dakich, "stand up old people." It was always great when you would see an 80 year old husband and wife stand up and cheer with the students. I think we have the best homecourt advantage in the country, and there's no way that's biased. Regardless of where it ranks though, you're right -- when you simply have that many students in an arena it's going to get loud. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 11, 2013 -> 02:47 PM) Still fairly impressive. They make a lot less money on students so they are doing those kids a serious solid. When I was there student tickets were $15/game. Regular seats were 40-60 I think; not sure. I do appreciate that the administration makes such an effort to make sure that a lot of students get to go to a lot of games.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 11, 2013 -> 01:39 PM) Stubhub has $5 tickets for Thursday's sessions. For the rest of the weekend, it's at least $60-$75 to get in the door. Ah I see. Krush did say Thursday, but my addled brain read that as Friday.
  19. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 11, 2013 -> 01:55 PM) That link said Indiana's student section was 7,800. Oops, must have missed that. Well there you go Rock. Assembly Hall holds 17,420 I think. So 7800 students, 9620 non-students.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 11, 2013 -> 01:45 PM) Wait. So you only have roughly 5k non-student tickets? No. That's how many student tickets there are total; students don't have a ticket to every game, because there's too much demand. I'm not sure what the number of student allotted seats at every game is. I would believe anything between 7500-10000.
  21. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 11, 2013 -> 01:42 PM) Show me an example. Is Zeller better this year than last year? Hulls? Wafford? How about Yogi from the non conference to the conference season? How much improvement are you looking for? I'm not suggesting there was monumental improvement, but I think there's more than you're admitting to.
  22. He should learn from the girl at ~1:44 of this video.
  23. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Mar 11, 2013 -> 01:04 PM) Good question. I'm not sure, but at least it'll only cost me $7 to watch it. And bonus Michigan/PSU which I'll stick around for unless it turns into a blowout. If we win it'll cost a lot more to get in Friday morning. Wait what tickets were only $7? That can't be right... I didn't even look into it, I knew I wouldn't be able to make it down to Chicago this weekend.
  24. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Mar 11, 2013 -> 01:01 PM) IU, as of a few years ago, didn't care that there was an opposing fan in the student section, as I did it twice. I did, however use an IU student ticket to get in so I'm sure they could have kicked me out if I couldn't show them an ID. I wore all this crimson stuff on the way in, as soon as I got in I took it all off. It was actually pretty fun getting harassed minus one or two douchebags, but I realize that would happen everywhere. Yeah, I don't have a problem with that rule (needing a student ID with a student ticket). You're right that that's what IU does. If that's all this was, then no problem. But hypothetically, a Michigan student wearing an Indiana shirt would be unacceptable? That just seems too...1984...for my tastes. Plus, if we didn't allow that, we would never get an aerial picture of a full Memorial Stadium, since they only take those when we play Ohio State so everyone is wearing red. Even half the student section wears Buckeye gear for those games. Here's to eternally hoping Hoosier football isn't such a doormat for much longer.... QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Mar 11, 2013 -> 01:01 PM) I never really understood the student section at IU, because like you said it's everywhere and there's no real "group," correct? I remember a few of my buddies were up in the 2nd level one game, some were behind the basket, and they said their seats rotated almost every game/couldn't actually get tickets for every game. There's no group in the sense that not ALL of the students are in one section. It's confusing, because there is a large mass of students behind the left side basket, and on the nearside lower left level. That looks like our student section, because it's big enough to be one. But that's only a small percentage of all the student seats. The rest are up in the corners of the lower level where it seems the balcony is about the fall down on you, and then scattered all over the balcony itself. The tickets do rotate every game. My freshman year (of my four years, that was by far our best team [the DJ White/Eric Gordon/Sampson's Debacle team]) I only had seats behind the basket or in that near lower level section for about 4-5 of the 15 or so home games. The rest were in random seats, or we didn't have tickets (that year, it was every student had tickets to every game except for two, which were randomly selected for each group of ticket holders). So yes, you don't have tickets to every game -- so, for the sake of this conversation let's say Assembly Hall has 10,000 students seats. There might be 12,000 student tickets, but 2,000 of them aren't there on any given night. A quick Google search couldn't give me any specific numbers on the student section, but I know at least IU's are out there somewhere, and I assume other schools' are as well. I'll look more later. EDIT: Looks like IU has 12,400 student tickets this year.
