  1. QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 08:46 PM) She's playing tiny schools and her team still didn't make it to state so take it with a huge grain of salt. True, but being to get the state's all time scoring record is pretty impressive.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 01:53 PM) Props to band Theme Park (very good btw). I wrote them a message asking for help getting permission for their song in our wedding video, they responded back in 5 minutes and gave me a contact. Really nice thing to go out of their way for. What kind of music is it/what songs should I check out at first? And congrats on, you know, needing a wedding video!
  3. I just laid in the dark for a while and listened to Illmatic. It was pretty rad. Highly recommended.
  4. Weren't there rumors like two years ago of a new Them Crooked Vultures album? Whatever happened with that?
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 12:51 PM) Made a few live edge walnut slab coffee tables over the weekend...pretty pleased with how they came out. Wow, those are pretty neat. I especially like the one with the split in the end.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 10:13 AM) I thought yesterday's episode was fantastic. I was highly entertained for 60 minutes and wished it wouldn't end. Yeah, I thought it was great. Agree on Nicky Augustine being a great character.
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 03:18 PM) Does this site work for you? http://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/ They are usually the best for pro sports I checked that one, but could only figure out how to look at individual previous seasons, not the entire history.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 03:08 PM) Have you tried the school's sports website? For Illinois, their basketball page has an almanac/record book with hundreds of pages of stats/records/etc. I had looked and didn't see anything, but looked again and found what will probably be the best I can do: a PDF of a media book Indiana printed for the 2009-10 season.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 02:48 PM) Arguing about the 4th outfielder is a little like arguing about diarrhea and vomiting. Regardless of which is actually better, an extended stay of either is going to be extremely unpleasant. Drunk vomiting or stomach flu vomiting? Big difference.
  10. Does anyone know a good site to find the top all time stat leaders at a given school? I've done a bit of googling and couldn't find anything; I could only find single lists of Indiana's Top Ten Scorers or something, but never any sources.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 12:12 PM) I'm not sure Matta himself could make Iowa a contender. But I did say FAIRLY successful. Fran McCaffrey seems to be on the right path.
  12. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 12:03 PM) But none of those other guys can say, "My daddy coached Michael Jordan." I said last year he would have been a terrible hire for Illinois, but he actually kind of makes sense for Northwestern, even if he has never been a head coach before (which is still a big knock coming into the Big Ten). He does seem to be a good fit. From the area, a breath of fresh air for the program...any ideas what style he would run?
  13. Yeah yeah, I know it's girls basketball, but damn these are some impressive numbers for Tyra Buss... http://scoop.hoosiershq.com/2013/03/tyra-b...-ms-basketball/
  14. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 10:29 AM) I think tossing it out on standing could lead to other issues since a state executive could essentially nullify state laws they don't like by refusing to defend them in court. I'd be surprised if they ruled that way. I can't remember the parties on each side for the Prop 8 litigation, but even if they dismissed based on standing I would guess they'd find a way to fit into previous precedent.
  15. QUOTE (Felix @ Mar 25, 2013 -> 06:18 PM) DISCLOSURE: I'm not a Minnesota native, but I've been here for 7+ years now Kind of off-topic, but in regards to your Minnesota sports interest: Gopher hockey is infinitely more popular than the Wild. The only reason people care about them is now is because they signed Parise/Suter. Prior to those signings, there were some casual fans who followed them just because it's hockey, but it's nowhere near the same level as the Twins or Vikings. While Minnesota is the state of hockey, the Wild haven't been able to capture the same amount of interest that the North Stars once had (according to everyone I've talked to, at least). St. Paul has a little more interest in the Wild given they play in the city, but it's not even close to the others in Minneapolis. Add in the fact that everyone knows someone who knows someone that played hockey at the U of M (high school hockey is huge here, and all the top Minnesota preps play at the U), and yeah, Gopher hockey gets SIGNIFICANTLY more interest. From everything I've heard/everyone I've talked to, the Timberwolves were the toughest ticket in town to get when KG was here and things were going good (read: 2004). Honestly, if all things are even, the Wolves probably have an edge on the Wild, if only because of bitterness from the North Stars days. The Twins are on a whole different level now because of the outdoor stadium (warm weather, great location, beautiful park, etc.). Agreed about the Gopher basketball team fighting for relevance, but really the key to that is winning. If the team wins, people will care because it's the college team that everyone has ties to. If the team loses (or doesn't win consistently, which has been the case during Tubby's tenure), then they aren't going to differentiate themselves from the rest of the teams in the market. The Tubby hire made a huge splash in the market, but he didn't live up to the (admittedly bloated) expectations. A Shaka Smart hire (or something similar) would definitely go a long way to taking the team to the next level, but it'd all come back to winning consistently. I do hear more about the Gophers than the Wild, and I personally care about the Gophers more than the Wild (though I'd say I follow the Gophers slightly less than I do the Blackhawks). I rated the Wild that high just because I know it's a pretty tough/pricey ticket, at least compared to the other sports. Target Field is gorgeous, I love it out there. I went to the Target Center for the first time in February, not a bad venue. Half the arena was empty, unsurprisingly.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 25, 2013 -> 05:01 PM) Flaxx caught crabs... With a student, no less. Props.

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 25, 2013 -> 05:31 AM) This season has been so great. "oh boy"...I mean "Oh Boy!" And you know Frank will go through with it just to cover his tracks. I'm assuming Lip turns Mandy in, but knowing this show, they will do something out of left field and it will be fantastic. As soon as the doctor said to do something to stimulate her unconscious and the camera slightly zoomed in on Jody's weird look, you knew he was going to go down on her. Hilarious. The show has suspended all disbelief, but I don't care.
  18. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Mar 25, 2013 -> 04:20 PM) If he were just some random coach, I think he'd still be there. The problem is that they're paying him something like $2 million a year (best guess I could find) based on his resume. Also very true. He came in as a "name" coach which enhanced the expectations.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 25, 2013 -> 04:14 PM) IN here since it involves water rights... Apparently Georgia just voted to declare war on Tennessee. Oh man, that's pretty awesome.
  20. QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 25, 2013 -> 04:03 PM) Is it just me, or was Minnesota totally irrelevant pre-Tubby Smith? An "okay" run of stripped NCAA appearances in the 90s and that's hit. Tubby hasn't exactly been sub-par there. They had Kris Humphries for a year when Dan Monson was there, I think. There just isn't really any buzz about the program up here. I mean yeah, people want the Gophers to win, but there's no real fervor. I've only lived in Minneapolis for a little over a year and a half, but this what I think how Twin Cities folk rate their interest in the teams: 1. Vikings 2. Twins 2. Wild/Gopher Hockey 3. Gopher Football 4. Gopher Basketball 5. Timberwolves Twins and the hockey teams are tied because their seasons are mostly exclusive; all three are pretty popular. Maybe a big splash, like a Stevens or Smart, could generate that buzz. And of course, if whoever they bring in starts winning consistently in the Big Ten (say, 3 top 4 finishes in a 5 year span), that would generate buzz as well as anything.
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 25, 2013 -> 12:47 PM) He's admitted it was a mistake. Everyone can move along. Dan Gilbert never apologized for his comic sans letter. Now that's unforgivable. No way, that letter was the best. Probably not the brightest idea if you're Dan Gilbert, but hilarious for everyone else.
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 25, 2013 -> 03:53 PM) Yes, but you cant argue with his performance. Agreed, but when you couple it with being down for what, 4 straight years? I guess it's not unimaginable... I dunno, I just guess I'm not surprised because the entire year I thought anything short of the Elite 8 would lose Howland his job.
