  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 08:43 PM) Damn. Hate to waste that run. 1 out and runner in scoring posiiton always seems to mean a strike out for the second out. But, it's 6-3 and we have three more chances
  2. Rios is just plain bad. Teases us a game or two and then back to being bad
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 08:38 PM) And you know as well as I do that if the Sox had a normal season from Dunn and Rios, their offense would be fine. Balta you are right about the young talent thing. Fans want instant success. Sometimes they get it for a few games and then the player comes back to earth. In the case of Morel and Flowers and Beckham even when your big hitters perform they can carry the youngsters along
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 07:30 PM) No you don't, unless you think that Tyler Kuhn is your opening day 2b next year right now and you want him in the lineup. If he full-out busts, he full out busts. Let him do it here. I agree. Keep Beckham with the Sox. The kid can still come around. He has talent and he is young. Don't give up on him yet.
  5. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 07:26 PM) Scott Diamond holding our offense in check. a fastball at 90 tops too. Must have movement or he is really deceptive? Of course it might be just another young pitcher we haven't seen before and have no idea what he is going to do on the mound and no plan against him
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 07:27 PM) You said that should be next year's lineup, though, meaning you'd cut Dunn based on 2011 alone. If his 2012 is similar to his 2011, that's a different scenario. Cut? No you are not going to "cut" someone but trade yes
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 08:21 PM) No way, Figgins might be only player worse. If Ozzie gets to manage him, then god help us all. Correct. His time has passed also. The Sox tried to get him before and luckily didn't
  8. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 08:19 PM) They're just going to eat the rest of Dunn's contract after one really, really bad year? I know it is going to be a tough decision. But, if this guy shows the same results in 2012 what do you think? Keep him occupying a spot and paying $14M a year for nothing? Cost out what we have paid him this year for his production. Or lack of it! Now maybe next year he is back and ready to contribute. It's a gamble for sure
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 08:18 PM) Next year's rotation: Floyd Peavy Sale Stewart Humber We'll hear all offseason that the fans didn't show up in 2011, and it was the fault of all the players. I would go after Danks and hard. Stewart is not ready in my opinion plus Buerhle stays a Sox
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 08:17 PM) Who are you trading Rios for? Chone Figgins? Barry Zito? It might be that all you can get is salary relief if you are lucky
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 08:16 PM) Why in the hell do you want Pierre back? Where are Rios and Dunn going? Rios and Dunn are done in my book, but if Pierre isn't back at leadoff then it's De Aza there and Dunn the DH
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 08:15 PM) BTW, I predict Ozzie benches Viciedo on Friday and plays Dunn vs Verlander If that happens I would like to hear the rationale behind it from Ozzie, bit it might for sure
  13. Next Year Pierre in LF? Viciedo at DH or LF or RF or 3B Quentin in LF or RF or DH Konerko at 1B Beckham at 2B Ramirez at SS Morel ? at 3B AJP or Flowers C De Aza in CF
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 08:11 PM) 4-3 Royals, bottom of the 8th One way or the other we need the Royals to win. I will settle for a Tigers win as long as the Sox rally and win
  15. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 08:03 PM) lol I hate the chip away comment now because of some guy on the slow pitch softball team. He always says that, sometimes we can be down by 8 with 2 more innings to play. Come on let's chip away. lol you can't just chip away when you're down that much, you need to cut it in half or more or something. If we can get some offesne we can dig ourselves out of this. Six runs allowed in the top of the 1st inning sure can be a deflater though
  16. Bad game from Peavy means calling for trades again?
  17. Flowers is still learning. No doubt he has improved, but AJP is no slouch. Pierzynski deserves to start. De Aza and Rios is a hard one. Might be more of the match up then anything. Next year might be different.
  18. This talk is taking away from our run at the AL Central title. We should be concentrating on that. I have to believe the off season will be interesting and when these things get settled
  19. AJ should have been with the Sox instead of rehab
  20. I guess it wil all even out and maybe clean out during the off season. The only caveat I would have is to be careful what you wish for.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 08:15 PM) And with Cuddyer and Kubel departing, and their bullpen a shambles...they're not looking good in the nearterm unless the M&M's can produce. The M&M's themselves are going to be an issue I think
  22. QUOTE (bozzie @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 07:16 PM) Can you point to a stretch of more than 1 - or 2 - games where Dunn hasn't been "dung"? . . . The point of the post is clear - Dunn and Rios were played all year long by Ozzie to make Kenny look bad, after Kenny made Ozzie look bad by allowing him Mark Kotsay as DH. Ozzie Guillen sacraficed the Sox season for his own ego. Ozzie's ego has sabatoged things before, but never has an entire season been given away. Until now. Not cool referring to any Sox player this way. Plus I don't think your reasoning makes ny sense anyway
  23. I am hoping this is a good match up. Mr Stewart is a work in progress
