  1. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 10:43 PM) I, for one, do not want to see Mark in another uniform this year or anytime soon. That would truly be the maraschino turd on this s***pile of a season. Yeah. If that were to happen it would be from all in to all out for sure
  2. More homers in 2011? Well, after last night I am guessing Lilli!
  3. QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 11:29 PM) He is a great defender. You may very well be right..but my inclination says he won't develop into a good hitter. He definitely needs to GTF away from Walker and start from ground zero. He's not effective unless driving the ball the opposite way...that's been my biggest b**** about Beckham, CQ...a bunch of guys. Not sure wth Walker tells these guys...but it ain't working. Hell...I was saying I had no faith in Beckham rebounding before the season even started. I really hope I'm wrong on this.... This is a hard call. Players and Ozzie seem to like Walker. There are some identifiable issues with GB's swing and if Beckham can't change is it because Walker can't teach him oir Beckham can't or won't listen and learn?
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 05:06 PM) Just remember, you were the one crying for Crede long after his back pretty much shelved him, you obviously dont know when it is time to receive value back for a player that is about to be risky and expensive. I still like Crede and towards the end it was more tongue in cheek about bringing him back, but he was a better option IMO than Josh Fields, who so many fell in love with after about half a season. I don't apologize for for my support of Sox players. Using the rationale of trading someone because of an injury would also translate into calls for Paul Konerko or AJP ew al to get traded. Trading at top value also means to know when a player has peaked and start going down. I don't see that with CQ. After his rebound season from injuries this is just a bump in the road
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 04:24 PM) Oh no, his annual dl trip is awesome, we should totally pay him the big bucks because of that I can put up with that for a guy who plays all out to win. 30 plus doubles, 20 plus homers and about 80 RBI's at this stage of the season shows me something. But, no let's tade our #2 hitter for some mid level prospect because the guy gets hurt at least trying to win. We need 24 more like CQ IMO.
  6. Well, I am waiting and I will see tonights game adn tomorrows also as it is on the Fox NW (ROOT) channel which we get. Loved Lilli last night. The kid is really somethig. Can't help but cheer for him everytime he comes up. Hoe to see Viciedo in both games. Maybe he plays 1B?
  7. Might get to see Viciedo this weekend
  8. It was a good game, but the top of the 9th with the sacks packed with Sox and no outs and we couldn't score. Wow! The season in a microcosm
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 04:05 AM) I mean, you don't even have to pretend he'll kill the ball or anything, just say "I hope he can do some good" or something like that. But no, Ozzie has to make his point and he doesn't care who he runs down to do it. That is troubling
  10. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 12:41 AM) From the Catch-All First thought: Should have traded Quentin at the deadline. Second thought: BUSTING OUT MY MOTHERf***ING DAYAN SHIRT. Quentin should not be traded.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 01:32 AM) It's like him & Sam Smith just sit around and see who can make the ridculous made-up trade proposal. I think this is probably true
  12. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 05:54 PM) Ohhh my mike blowers and company.... Ewww Mariners broadcast equals numerous shots of Ickiroo Suzuki stretching and showing off for his adoring fans
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 08:28 PM) Those were the days when you starter went 8 or 9 innings no questions asked, and you didn't need a six-man bullpen, so you had space for guys like that. This is true. Four man rotations and not uncommon for 10 to 20 CG's a year from a starter
  14. QUOTE (Real @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 08:22 PM) in case you missed it, I posted in another thread.. a co-worker of mine is friends with JT's family, he said Jim is retiring after this year.... I did miss it. Jim Thome is a class A guy and a baseball star. It was great when he was with the Sox
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 06:00 PM) There's a reasonable chance that if he doesn't retire, he'd wind up in the boat of no one offering him a major league deal. Do you really think so? I guess he is pretty much limited to AL only and part-time DH at that because of his back issues. There was a day when a premier pinch hitter was valued ala Smokey Burgess but not anymore I guess
  16. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 07:53 PM) Not happening. Beckham will be fine. I am inclined to believe Gordon Beckham will still develop into a good hitter. He is already a very very fine defender. He never had much if any minor league experience and pretty much went from college to the bigs. That doersn't work all that often. He is basically having to learn at the major league level.
  17. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 03:36 PM) Couldn't be any more obvious. Doesn't seem to understand player values either, judging by posts in other threads. If I judge too high then you judge too low. As I just responded to Rowand I don;t agree with the idea of change just for the sake of change. People we are calling to be traded aren't necesarily the problem, but we seem to think we should trade them and keep non-performers. You don't trade a strength and weaken your self by getting unproven prospects especially when you see folks calling for a mid level prospect in return for a proven major leaguer. Now I guess if Kenny Wiliams comes out a says we are blowing this team up and starting over with young unproven alent then so be it, but I think that is an overreaction to some real unforeseen occurences this year.
  18. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 03:29 PM) You hate change, don't you? I do hate change for the sake of change.
  19. Pitching is the name of the game. I hope we keep Danks and Buerhle both Buerhle Floyd Danks Peavy (Humber?) Stewart hasn't show me a lot yet but Humber is not doing what he did before. I just don't think we can afford to be taking risks with our staff. The four top pitchers are proven
  20. Seattle on FOX NW, which I think was renamed ROOT, has the three Sox-Mariners games this weekend. Up here we get that channel so I will be watching Sox baseball and listening to Mariners announcers.
  21. I don't disagree at all that a player paid multi-multi-millions to perform and doesn't should think about returning some of that multi and just make a multi-million or so. Pay for performance is not an unusual thing. Might be a novile thing if it was actually done.
