  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 07:29 PM) I'm guessing KW is going to try to engineer a move to trade Teahen in the same way he did Linebrink, eat some salary but save a few million... then trade prospects to get one high end reliever. That would leave just one pen slot open (assuming that its the traded player plus Thornton, Sale, Santos, Pena and Infante), for a long man, and they can simply use one of their AAA starters that aren't really major league starting material for that mop-up duty. If he can't move Teahen, he'll still probably trade prospects for a reliever, but he won't be able to get one with as high a salary. I would agree Teahan is on tghe block before I would think Quentin is
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 12:11 AM) Sounds right to me. They are NOT shopping Quentin anymore than they are shopping Buerhle or Floyd
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 10, 2010 -> 03:29 PM) You don't know who Jay Bruce is? Hint: He's better than Carlos Quentin. There is no one better than CQ or any other White Sox player
  4. There must not have been anyone eligible in the Rule V draft that we could use. Raw arms, etc, don't equate to filling an immediate need. My understanding of this draft is they have to make the ML roster or be offered back is that right?

    Peavy

Would not be a bad ide or hurt my feelings to keep Freddie Garcia
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 09:52 PM) "A quick reaction" would be having Morel come up this year, struggle some at the start, and wind up replaced. Better wording might have made my idea clearer. But, what you are saying is exactly what I mean. Give the job now to Morel and trade Viciedo and/or Teahan and Morel falls on his face in ST. I can see one of the two being moved in a good deal, but maybe Viciedo still is in a competition for 3B with Morel?
  7. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 09:35 PM) I would trade him for a dominant, young, cheap closer, or a good, young, team controlled starter. Just a bullpen piece or a mediocre veteran starter wouldn't be enough for me to trade the best positional prospect we have. dominant young cheap closer? Who might that be?
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 08:51 PM) The stuff I've heard out of the Org seems to suggest that they really like Morel's glove and think his bat will come around quickly, while they clearly don't trust Viciedo's glove or Teahen's glove or bat at all for 3b. I agree that this seems to be their thinking. But, you know how things change and I would hate to lose other options by a quick reaction to trade someone
  9. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 06:06 PM) I'm probably biggest TCQ fan on this board but I would love if Quentin/Viciedo could bring us a top reliever/RF. We have a RF'er in CQ. It is stillpossible we see a battler in ST between Viciedo and Morel for that 3B job. Nothing has been handed to anyone that I know of plus we have Teahan in the picture. There are trade possibilities for sure
  10. If we don't sign Konerko who do you want? It amazes me that we are not willing to support the signing of Konerko at a price that he deserves but are willing to sign a lesser talented player at money they don't deserve. Paul Konerko is the piece we need to compete in the AL Central and for a World Series chance. ESPN Baseball analysts, including John Kruk, consider Paulie the best IB on the free agent market and that includes Derek Lee. et al. They all think he will be back with the Sox. Just because there are negotiations going on and PK or the Sox haven't capitulated to the others wishes doesn't mean it won't happen. That is the definition of negotiation. I hope we hear the good news today.
  11. PK will sign with the Sox. Cowley has no inside info
  12. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 07:16 PM) That would be societies negative connotation dear sir... I however - have no issues with midgets, thank you kindly. I am neither a Deer nor a Sir. Oh wait a minute never mind
  13. Tuesday must be slow in Disneyworld?!
  14. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 08:56 PM) Straight up for Pierre, even salary. Yes please. CQ back to LF, Fukudome in RF. Better defense. Or even better, Fukudome + Cubs cash in 2011 for Teahen + prospect + Sox cash in 2012. Fukudome is then the 4th OF and added insurance. You must not have actually seen Pierre play in LF this past year? Folks actually raved about his defense. Granted his arm isn't much, but he didn't do too bad at all out there IMO
  15. QUOTE (Fantl916 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 06:29 PM) Lots of potential here, and could be a good sigining for the bullpen/long man. Good type for a Coop fix... thoughts? The question with these types of signings is can Don Cooper work miracles?
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 09:30 PM) Ozzie said Freddy was his best pitcher last year, lol. I have a feeling the other 4 guys on the staff are sitting at home like "WTF?" Not far from the truth and that ain't no joke
  17. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 03:53 PM) jonmorosi Reinsdorf on Konerko: "He belongs in Chicago." #WhiteSox 12 minutes ago jonmorosi Asked if he expects Konerko to be with #WhiteSox by end of this week, Reinsdorf said, "I hope so." 12 minutes ago The sox are certinly putting a lot of pressure of Paulie, by publicly saying they have deferred money and have the gm, a newly signed huge fa signee, and the chairmen of the board all saying Paulie can have what he wants to come back. If Paulie decodes to go elsewhere the front office is setting him up to be the bad guy. I don;'t see anyone setting PK up as the bad guy. Everything has been up front and respectful with lots of man love being exchanged between the Sox and PK and his agent. Paulie wats to stay in Chicago I am certain.
  18. QUOTE (ozzfest @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 05:21 AM) What do you guys think of bringing Crede back for cheap. I still think Morel needs more time to develop, and I think between Crede, Vizquel and Teahen we'd find a decent temporary solution. Plus, I really miss Crede's facial hair. I always liked Joe Crede and if healthy he could still make a difference. But, time waits for no man and it might be too late for a return to the Sox, So in this case I really do feel strongly both ways about the Crede option
  19. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) He's 29, will be getting expensive in the next few years. That's the thinking of second tier teams
  20. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 08:49 AM) I like saying the same thing over and over again in different ways!!! Midget!!!!!! Porn????? Best worst ever!?!?!? Yes, maybe not so - ok. Midget! Porn!!! Midget midget midget May I ask what you have against midgets?
  21. QUOTE (quickman @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) If they are "all in" like Williams states I really do not see a place for Viciedo on this team. In fact I think Viciedo will eventually be traded to get bullpen help. Morel will be the only "chance" player we take. Morel has true defensive skills he will stick. If Konerko doesn't resign, Lee might be the next target as you get a veteran, decent defensive player who is a good locker room guy. I do like the beltre Idea but I have no idea how this guy is in the locker room. At this point 3B is still an option for Viciedo
  22. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 03:05 AM) If the Sox pull off signing Dunn and keeping Konerko it'd be epic. Yes! I am keeping my fingers crossed that we resign PK
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 09:48 AM) Um, this is kinda dumb. in more ways than one
