Sox engaged in "advanced trade discussions"
elrockinMT replied to Leonard Washington's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 05:48 PM) If Konerko is signed, Dayan Viciedo. This is entirely possible, but Dayan might benefit from another year at AAA and be in Sox plans for 2012 -
Sox engaged in "advanced trade discussions"

QUOTE (Wanne @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 08:07 PM) Good lord.... Seriously...just why in the hell would the Sox trade Lexi? Cheap and very talented shortstops don't just grow on trees. Rasmus is overrated IMO. Exactly. We trade our successful and young talent for one guy from the Cards who ain't there yet? -
Sox engaged in "advanced trade discussions"

QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 08:09 AM) This is from Rosenthal's article about the Dunn signing. It's a quote that hasn't really got much attention, but from a reliable source like Rosenthal I find it interesting. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/Chicago...-million-120210 I can't help but think Quentin's involved, and I HIGHLY doubt this was about the Linebrink trade. I don't think Quentin will be going anywhere. If Reinsdorf authorized more money to be spent then free agency will be the way the Sox go to fill needs. I am hopeful Konerko is back. It makes no sense to sign a bat (Dunn) to off set the loss of one (PK). You add power to the line up so PK's signing is a must. Too many trades you see offered up for discussion here would do nothing but open up a hole somewhere else in the line up that we can't fill. My guess is a pitcher might be dealt and since pitching is a very sought after commodity for almost all teams we are in a good spot. I think Edwin Jackson may be the one to go. I would be happy to see all our hurlers stay though. There might be a lot of signings of under the radar type free agent pitchers in an attempt to fill the holes in the bullpen. -
This was interesting news, but between his salary and Jenks being non-tendered and signing AJP for about 2M less I can now see where the Dunn signing came from. It will be fun to see where the bullpen goes and how things develop from here. I am just waiting for Konerko to sign and I'll be fine.

I am very happy with what I see KW and the Sox ownership doing. If we can get PK back I will be ecstatic

Paul Konerko is the Sox best option. Period!

QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 03:27 AM) What a night, but someone has to get traded now Buehrle or Quentin. No they don't - not if you read what the Sox plans are. It does appear Jerry is willing to spend the money to win NOW
-
The trade, if one happens, will be a pitcher. My guess is Jackson. But, Mark Buerhle might be the one. I say Jax because of what the original plan was last year. Swap him to the Nats for Dunn then. We won't be trading the likes of CQ or Beckham becasue that is not the area we consider a strength or who might bring the greatest return. Pitching is the strength of the Sox and the need for most other teams. I am crossing my fingers for Konerko's return also and I would be happy to see AJP back

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 07:15 PM) WTF? That's the silliest thing I've read today and I've been in the alphabet thread. "Rival exec can add." Let's just give up now!

Alexei opts out of 1.5 mil- Sox have a week to accept 2.5 op
elrockinMT replied to Frank_Thomas's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Let's not screw things up though KW. Don't get too samrt for your own good when dealing with our quality young players. Sign him long term and get him locked up. -
QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Dec 1, 2010 -> 06:20 AM) .300 average, 25 homeruns, .300 OBP. Heh. He never takes pitches so .300 is kind of high don't you think? .270 maybe
-
QUOTE (Saufley @ Dec 1, 2010 -> 01:22 AM) Putz declines arbitration. Tells Chuck Garfein of CSN he has talked with 8 teams already. Good bye Putz? I guess we stil could sign him if he likes the Sox and is just checking on the money that might be out there

Tulowitzki ain't no Alex Rodrigues, but then again Alex Rodrigues isn't either. Looking at $20M a year? That is outrageous

How did the goofy idea of trading Floyd for a back up thirdbaseman get turned into the goofier idea of trading Gordon Becham?
-
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Nov 29, 2010 -> 06:42 PM) He's about to get PIZZAID!!! You guys think he's worth that much?? If he starts for them yes. We shoud have signed him a few years ago. He is a real good player and team player also

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 28, 2010 -> 05:56 PM) For Curtis Granderson! I know Tex is being sarcastic and I know the point you are making. And you are both right. I didn't see the Yankmees (the best team money can buy) win the world series with these guys and wonder why Phil would even write this stuff as being on option for the Sox. It's just to stir the pot in what has been a very slow off season so far for the Sox. Only a week before the winter meetings.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 27, 2010 -> 11:18 PM) I like PK at 2/24 or 3/30, but that's it. I think he reverts to 270/340/500/28/90 That's a lot of reverting

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 27, 2010 -> 02:13 PM) Paulie is a great guy and has been a great player in a White Sox uniform. Comparing him to Jeter though is ridiculous. First off, 95% of this board wanted Paulie gone and wanted the Sox to pay at least part of his contract to do so before 2010. Secondly, the White Sox don't throw money around like the Yankees. I think giving Paulie a 3 year $45 million contract will eventually be regrettable. Giving Jeter $20 million a year and he stinks the place up wouldn't be much of a blow to the Yankees. They have made a lot of money because of him.If you go by the 2010 season alone, Paulie is probably more valuable, but like him or not, Jeter is a first ballot HOFer. 95% wanted him gone? Either I am in that 5% minority or your exagerating a lot. I do not agree with your take on PK and a new conract at all. He would be worth the $15M a year. The only question is will PK ask that much to stay with the Sox or woud a $13-$15M 2 year contract do it with incentives or a mutual third year option?

QUOTE (dmbjeff @ Nov 25, 2010 -> 03:38 PM) and also worried about LH and power bats as well I really think all this LH and RH power is overrated. If you can hit you can hit

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 25, 2010 -> 06:52 PM) Stewart's BB/K is horrible. He's averaged 2.5 to 3 K per BB since he was promoted to the Bigs. Even Uribe has a better percentage, and he was known as a free-swinger. Now if you talk about a FA signing that would help us let's talk about Uribe.
-
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Nov 26, 2010 -> 08:13 PM) Look larger: I'd also be trading to add power from the left side and substantially improve the outfield defense. Additionally they'd be adding versatility, youth, speed and impact potential. This deal would also be acquiring controlled talent for the future while unloading current contract money that would free it up to make other impact moves. I am not sure you would be doing any of this with a lopsided trade as proposed. What financial benefit are you talking about anyway? Floyd was signed as a bargain and we all hoped Danks would follow

Trade for a thirdbaseman when we have a couple three already?

Javy is the best .500 pitcher out there

White Sox offer arbitration to Konerko, Putz.
elrockinMT replied to justBLAZE's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 09:04 PM) MDGonzales Mark Gonzales Sox offer arb. to Konerko, Putz, decline to AJ. Scott Reifert Salary arb offered to PK and Putz by #WhiteSox; declined to AJ and Manny. Team can keep negotiating with all free agents. People don't want to sign AJ for $7M. Ok, but any good catcher is going to cost some money. As long as we can keep negotiating with AJP I am not upset, but what do we sign him for if in fact we bring him back? $6.99M? Sometimes I think KW thinks he is too smart for his own good. We won't win with a Flowers/Castro package at C and I don't think we will win with a Miggy Olivo/Ramon Castro tandem either. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 09:14 PM) I was thinking the same thing. Heck Quentin might have 10 steals next year. Our motto next year should be "I will run in 2011"
