  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 21, 2009 -> 04:01 AM) It's just so hittable now. At least he seems to have found his hanger. As was pointed out by the broadcasting crew... You have to mix it up. Bruce was waiting for that fastball and crushed it. He did mix it up on th last guy and did it right
  2. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 05:37 PM) At least you don't live in Wyoming. Where men are men and the sheep hide
  3. Saturday night at 7:00 PM EDT - that's 5:oo PM in Gods Country- the Civil Rights Game is the MLB Channel's game of the night Sunday the Sox and Cincy are on WGN See you all on the TV
  4. QUOTE (Special K @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 10:06 PM) Alright. Fine. I'd throw in Poreda too along with Beckham and Quentin to get Ankiel. But that is absolutely it, I wouldn't want to mortgage our future for him. You need to highlight your posts in green when saying these funny things
  5. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 07:36 PM) Maybe Josh Fields? Do the Cards need a medicore thirdbaseman?
  6. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 07:16 PM) I don't know if anyone else saw this last night on MLB Network, but they had Ken Rosenthal on. He suggested, and I'm guessing this is pure speculation on his part, that the White Sox trade for Rick Ankiel. Thoughts? Questions I would ask are: Where does he play? Who does he replace? What kind of a fit is he with the Sox? How much does he cost? How much will he cost in return? Why? He is a good story as far as his hitting is concerned, but I wonder why Rosenthal is evening mentioning Rick Ankiel?
  7. QUOTE (hawkubes @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 03:11 PM) This thread is ridiculous. It's one bad outing. The only reason this team has been able to stay afloat is the outstanding bullpen, and Scott Linebrink has been a huge part of it. I can't believe how quickly everybody turns on a player. This was a tough loss and I'm as pissed off about it as anyone, but I have no doubt Linebrink will bounce back and I sure as hell don't want him sent down (which will never happen but has been suggested) or traded away for cents on the dollar. I agree bad outings happen, but this is not Linebrink's first one. You count on the bullpen to shut the door and all too often they are blowing games for us. Hopefully the pen rebounds. I have to add that the sad fact of it is that Thornton didn't hold the game either. It wasn't good, but it's over. Let's win the next one
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 09:02 PM) The Sox need to move him if they can. I'm on board rebuilding because I dont' think the current team is going anywhere and its time to get things setup so the next crop of players can. That doesn't mean you give everyone away but it does mean goes who don't fit into the long-term plans should go. I want to see more of Getz/Beckham/BA (even if I don't think he'll ever hit with his defense you need to see if he can) and of course Poreda/Richard/Danksy/Floyd. Plus get Flowers/Danks2/Brandon Allen/Omogrosso/Link opportunities. I think the team can compete, but I am not against moving Linebrink. With that fastball it has to be located well or he will be hit hard as we have seen. I am not sure he can be the type of middle man or bridge to Jenks in the 9th
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 10:22 PM) Can we just give Linebrink the nickname of "What If" now? That was my thought when I saw the line score. Linebrink gives up two homers and blows the game. How many times have we had a relief pitcher, and this includes Linebrink, giving up the long ball? Floyd did a super job and this is how the bullpen rewards him
  10. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 08:39 PM) RBI single to rightish field. Love it whehn the go opposite field and not try and do too much
  11. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 08:17 PM) He gets two outs with three pitches and then walks the next two. This is what happened in the Angels game in May. He loses concentration too easily. Got a bit rattled did he?
  12. I am not sure about the surgery option. I had the same injury thing and received cortisone shots and was told it needed time to heal on its own, which was a long process. Maybe there is some type of foot surgery, but I wouldn't be so quick as to jump on that bandwagon. Wait till the end of the season or we are out of the race, whichever comes first.
  13. QUOTE (qwerty @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 09:08 PM) Yay. It was all good today
  14. I would hope we keep Dye on the fold. We have no one to replace JD and two more years with Dye in RF would be fine with me. Thome would be ok too, but i doubt we offer him another contract at the money he is making now.
  15. Well, I love the win, but my luck in watching games has not been good lately. I was ready at home for yesterdays game only to have it rained out. But, today I had to DVR it as I am at work. But, a win is a win and I love it
  16. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 08:48 PM) I just believe, man Sports is the only thing I'm ever optimistic about in my life, gotta think big haha. I am with you all the way
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 08:44 PM) PODS will walk, take second and be singled home. You were so wrong! He singled not walked.
  18. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 08:32 PM) I'll believe it when I see it. The next time we have s***ty loss and there aren't 673 posts about how this entire team needs to be cut/traded/fired I'll believe. I mock those posts because it ruins the site and drives people away. On another note, hope to god this means Danks is back for good. Floyd seems to have found it, Count is solid, Burrly is burrly, and Richards is good enough. Our bullpen + that rotation is pretty scary considering Detroit is falling apart, Clevland sucks, and KC isn't as deep. You are just on a winning high right now
  19. QUOTE (The Bones @ Jun 16, 2009 -> 05:34 PM) Tuesday CSN - Hawk and Stone WGN - Len and Bob Wednesday CSN - Len and Bob WGN - Hawk and Stone Thursday CSN - Hawk and Stone WGN - Len and Bob I'd rather hear our guys than the Scrubs, but at least it's televised. I hope the Comiskey series is also
  20. It appears all three games of the series will be broadcast on WGN
  21. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 16, 2009 -> 01:45 AM) Booing a player might encourage those in charge to get rid of a player. If Sox management can't see what they have in Wise then booing him probably isn't going to help open their eyes. I hand it to Dwayne on his fielding, but he is criticized even there for his shallow play in CF. How long doers it take to gte your timing and rythm back when returning from injury? I don't know, but we can't afford to keep an automatic out in the lineup
  22. Let's get a win, but Buerhle has to be sharper than he has been the last couple games. Wise is in the line up and for his sake and I know he has a desire to contribute let's hope he can today.
  23. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 10:56 PM) Going to Charlotte really appears to have turned the Count around. Almost an understatement with 14 innings of 2 hit ball since his return
