  1. If the offense will perform the game is still early and we can rally from 5 down. Probelm is we didn't bring in a runner from 2nd base with one out in the 1st.
  2. Who would have thought that Buerhle would be the odd man out of an otherwise stellar pitching rotation?
  3. Looks like Ozzie isn't happy with OC either judging by todays news stories. Plus the Sun_times is saying any long term deal with OC is off the table. No talks and he is out of Chicago at the end of the season. Hum!
  4. He needs to concentrtate of making contact and not swinging wildly as it appears he has been in this slump. When he just tries to make conatct he seems to perform better.
  5. QUOTE (shawnhillegas @ May 27, 2008 -> 01:10 AM) The Indians announcers are the polar opposite of Hawk. They are extremely critical of their own players. There are some good announcers out there that call a great game even when their team isn't performing well
  6. QUOTE (daa84 @ May 27, 2008 -> 01:03 AM) please tell me this is true It's not an addiction as long as they are over 18 and you don't get caught
  7. It's terrible to see the top 3 guys in the lineup are 6 for 9 with only one run scored between them
  8. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 27, 2008 -> 12:57 AM) Another weak fly ball for Swisher. Get him out of the lineup. You can say that about 5 or 6 guys right now and we don't have anyone to replace them with except pitchers. Now if they could bat like Gary Peters maybe, but probably not
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2008 -> 12:52 AM) Could be...or maybe he just has no bat speed now. He had that great day with 2 homers against Guthrie on April 27th, and then he hurt himself during that dreadful tie game against the Orioles on the 28th. He hasn't hit a homer since that time, and only has 3 doubles. I don't have the slightest clue why they haven't shut him down for two weeks. That's what I have been thinking too. If he has a hand injury and can't put the big mean swing on the ball what good is he doing in the lineup except clogging it up. And we have too many doing that now. Nothing wrong with a 15 day DL stint and bring up someone, but maybe a game or three more will tell?
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2008 -> 12:47 AM) He smoked one to the warning track in CF. His two other at bats were bad, as he got jammed on 84 mph inside fastballs. Sat to long and timing off maybe?
  11. Just checked in as I finally had some time. Thome is my PTC tonight and I am hoping this 2 run homer brings him out of this slump. I see we have 1 HR and 8 singles and correspondingly 3 GIDP's by the offense. How is Konewrko's swings looking?
  12. I have read those calorie things, but I just can't stomach a diet drink at all. Can't handle that fake sugar you can put into iced tea and all that other stuff. I gots to have the real thing
  13. QUOTE (daa84 @ May 26, 2008 -> 11:42 PM) good thing we have a K guy out there and not a fly ball pitcher like floyd...though javy isnt exactly a GB guy on his non K outs I was thinking the same thing. Javy can take the AL lead in K's tonight and maybe the wind will help keep his pitches low in the strike zone
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ May 26, 2008 -> 11:39 PM) Diet drinks are even worse. Now I agree with that. Diet anything sucks, but coke is better than pepsi and it's even been proven in scientifically controlled taste tests
  15. 20 mph wind out to CF. Hopefully our boppers take advantage and theirs don't
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ May 26, 2008 -> 11:02 PM) You couldn't pay me 100 dollars to drink coca-cola instead of pepsi. I knew that eventually we would discover what aills ya
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 26, 2008 -> 10:15 PM) I just don't see why anyone even cares. So he called the press box....it's not like he is some rookie or something. He knows how to play the game, he knows how to stay focused. By now, he can play the game in his sleep. What does it matter if he called the press box? For all we know, he has a $50k bet or something with another player... Good point
  18. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 26, 2008 -> 07:50 PM) If we are out of contention by the all-star break (around 10 games under or something), than you trade Contreras and Crede for whatever you can get for them. However, if we are still in first or around first, you have to hang on to those guys. I think they both have a chance to sign extentions with the Sox. So sayeth even Reinsdorf
  19. QUOTE (DBAH0 @ May 26, 2008 -> 09:51 PM) And yet that average is getting higher, and he's on pace for a career high in OPS and HR's this season. Chris Young is a quality player, no if's or buts. But so is Javier Vazquez of course. Do we agree that you have to trade quality to get quality?
  20. I don't see anything wrong with what OC did. We have baseball broadcasters, owners, GM's and managers making their cases to official scorers so what's the issue with Cabrera? Plus if the throw goes high and off the glove of a jumping infielder the error should be on the one who thjre the ball. And if the runner was going to beat it anyway, but doesn't go to thirdbas on the throw then it is a SB. I think Mr Rosenberg may well have gotten it right after some thought. I see no reason to be calling OC all kinds of trash names. Interesting to see how many posts call for OCto get traded over this and/or not signed to an extension. The guy is a darn good fielder and brings some energy to the team.
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 26, 2008 -> 02:35 AM) As great as Carlos has been, I want to point out that without this rotation, you'd be looking at possibly the worse team in baseball. All I can say is that hopefully Q keeps kicking ass and that some of the other bats finger things out (or Kenny finds other guys who can). And to the pitching...keep on being BOSS!!!! Pitching wins games and of course hitting and defense steps in to help. But Pitching is what it's alla bout. This staff has been incredible. Carlos Quentin is the man may I add.
  22. Jose Contreras is no fluke. He has put personal problems and the such behind him and he knows how to pitch and win games. He is building confidence again and is a competitor. He had El Duque before to help him, but now I see him as the mentor to Alexei Ramirez and I think that has helped him also. I tell you what that game last night was a beauty.
  23. Wait a minute. What am I missing here? We are in first place in the AL Central and have not peaked yet and we are talking fire sales? Shame on you.
