QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jun 8, 2008 -> 06:15 PM) Even if they get this one in today, it looks like it's going to be a long day...weather for the Chicago area looks horrible all day and into the night. Any further reports on whether the wet weather wrecks the game for today?

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 8, 2008 -> 05:27 PM) big rain on the way I was worried last night, but we got the game in and it was a good one. Little more apprehensive about the weather and a day game

QUOTE (Soxpranos @ Jun 8, 2008 -> 05:10 PM) Just what we need , another .220 hitter with limits on his defense. We never seem to value or appreciate our own players as much as other teams do. I believe at one time some we even calling for Joe Crede's outright release after he was injured. You hear alot of nonsense from time to time when it comes to some fans wanting dump our players fro single A talent, etc. I remember some posts even calling for a white flag trade off when we were in first place at the time.

I am excited!! Taken from Chisox notes off the Tribune website: Both Sunday games against the Cubs (June 22 at Wrigley Field and June 29 at U.S. Cellular Field) have been selected for ESPN's national telecast. That means game times will be 7:05 p.m. instead of in the afternoon, as both managements had requested.

Trade Konerko, Trade for Griffey
elrockinMT replied to ChiliIrishHammock24's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Ken Griffey is a star, but on the down hill side even more so than Konerko. In fact I think this is just a bump in the road for Paulie and he will bounce back. Of course next year it might be with another team -
The emergence of Ramirez has certainly been interesting. He was given a chace to play everyday when Uribe was injured and now Juan can't get back in the lineup. Do you think we will be looking back on the Alexei signing and compare it to the Quentin trade? Both have done very well, but Alexei needs more time to prove himself. Rookie of the Year consideration possible though?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 8, 2008 -> 07:59 AM) Anybody else a huge Joe Crede fan? Maybe Joe is what the team was missing last year. Joe Crede is a fricking great baseball player. Two bombs two nights in a row?? You are kidding me. I saw that game on WGN Saturday night. It was great. Buerhle looked so sharp and the offense led by Crede did a great job. Plus Jow had a good defensive play or two also

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2008 -> 03:36 PM) It interesting because EVERY quote I have heard from the players, coaches, and management have all said that Walker isn't the problem. Even guys like Konerko have talked about how valuable Walker is to them. Its people on the outside who are blaming Walk. Good point.

QUOTE (soxfn4life @ Jun 8, 2008 -> 03:28 PM) Do you think Josh Fields woulkd have 12 errors? I think it's possible Fields would have more errors. Don't mistake Crede's errors with some lack of ability. Most have come from the rust of being off for almost a full year. Those in the know will tell you that it is not easy to comeback from that type of layoff and just start at the top. Crede has made many excellent stops and the such and his throwing is better. Fields is not known for his glove and made several errors on plays many thought Crede would have made. Josh Fields is a talent for sure and I am hoping the Sox look at him at 1B or another spot when they finally come to the conclussion Crede needs to stay with the Sox.

QUOTE (JFields27 @ Jun 7, 2008 -> 08:07 PM) just saw uribe at the Old Country Buffet ......... You sure that wasn't Alexei R trying to gain weight?

Hernandez is the type of pitcher you just have to be patient with and not try and overswing and kill everything. He isn't goimg to overpopwer yopu and in my mind tonight is the night to shine for the Sox offesne against a junkball pitcher. Let's go Sox

I'll be tuned to XM radio tonight. I have to make a 2 hour drive so the game will keep my alert

White Sox sign Esteban Loaiza/Option Wassermann
elrockinMT replied to Steff's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Speculation abounds concerning the move. My guess is Massett isn't going anywhere and I think he has earned his right to stay. Wassermann hasn't looked real good thus far and if anyone goes down it will be him assuming this signing of EL is true. It may have been blogged and I don't see any reason to doubt it one always would like to see official word announced. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 05:32 PM) The only positive I see with Loaiza possibly being in the bullpen is that he's done well against righty hitters the past two seasons. He's not a roogy, but if used right, it's possible he won't be a huge liability. He returns to work with Cooper who apaprently is a god like pitching coach. Esteban can do the job he just needs a good coach and to be healthy -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 05:02 PM) I'd rather have Wassermann on the team than Loaiza. I saw him pitch a few games for the Dodgers the past few years, and his stuff was below average. I like Loaiza though, so I hope he can revive his career. I think Loiaza is a beter option. he can do long relief with Massett, releif or spot start when needed. During the heat of a long pennant race I am thinking a guy like Loiaza can really help. -

QUOTE (Steff @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 04:47 PM) Just signed to a 1 year deal. Can he catch lightening in a bottle twice... I like this deal -
Nice offense for a change and the win makes everyone happy. However, Konerko and Thome continue their struggles at a combined 0-7. But, if others can pick up the slack maybe it will help PK and JT to relax and the hits will come. We do have a line up that can put up some runs and being at home is sure nice.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 10:57 PM) Actually, it appears there was a change made. They moved Dye down in the order. I'm all shook up!! I think that's song too isn't it?
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 10:28 PM) Hell then, if you're not going to play Anderson today, take Alexei and put him in CF and stick Uribe at 2nd. Uribe's actually 5/16 with a homer and a .915 OPS against Greinke in his career. (Swisher is 2/5 with 2 k's). Or play swisher and sit Konerko and his 3/28 career against Greinke. Or hell, at least do SOMETHING different. I would like to see Uribe back in there too, but Ramirez hasn't been so bad as a replacement. Maybe Ozzie feels like he deserves to be in there?
-
I don't care what line up Ozzie uses as long as we win. All you can ask is for a player or players to do their best. I believe that no one wants to do good and win games more than Konerko, Thome, Dye, Swisher, et al on the Sox roster. I hope to catch the game on XM tonight.

It's almost 6 PM CDT and no changes have been made. I say again no changes have been made. Now, I didn't call for any and didn't join in on specualtion or vote in the polls on what I thought the changes should be if any. What we need to do is win and all things will be good again in the World of Ozzie and the Sox. Maybe all this letting off steam will spur a change in the approach at the plate by our heroes. I hope so and that's all I want to see as far a changes are concerned. I am ready for Tuesday night versus KC. Hope to listen on XM tonight for a Sox win.

Nothing that a winning series or two won't cure.
