QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 09:30 PM) He basically was talking about how people lambast someone like Mark when he is going bad, then when he is on a stretch like this, people jump back on the bandwagon. Pitchers go through bad stretches, it happens. he can't be talking about us though

564 plate appearance seems to be more realistic. Not many hit 664 in appearacnes in a year. That's like 4 times at bat for every game of the year

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 09:18 PM) If Thome reaches a certain amount of PA, his option automatically kicks in. Jim has made a ton of money over his career, but I don't see him walking away from 14 million. Anyone got the number? No, I don't know the number, but Jim Thome is a heckuva of a player and brings a great presence. If he returns to the Sox it won't be at the slary he is making now. Or at least that's my guess.

Joe K's. I wonder if any of our hitters ever think that the opposing pitcher will throw a change up on a 2 strike count especillay on a 3-2 count? And they always do and our players seem to always K

QUOTE (watchtower41 @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 09:10 PM) I hear what youre saying, but Floyd kinda spoiled us with all those near NO-NO's early on. Not every performance can be comepletely dominating... we knew the long ball would catch up with him a bit. He just lost his first start over his past 6 last night.... He did spoil us for sure. I am hoping this is just a rough stretch for him, but looking back on these last few starts he has not been exactly terrible either even when he lost

QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 09:06 PM) I am curious who you guys think will be the better pitcher long-term: Floyd or Danks? I've kind of been thinking it would be Floyd but I get the sense most people would take Danks. Like I just posted I am starting to like danks more and more. But, I am nopt ready to choose one over the other (Danks and Floyd)
-
I am really starting to like this Danks kid. Floyd has 8 wins, but I have to believe that Danks is actually pitching better. We have a couple good kids from other organizations that are making it big time with the Sox. I hope Floyd can get back to being a consistent as a winner soon also

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 08:48 PM) Can't be walking guys with 2 outs and no one on. That's the type of stuff that gets Danks pulled after 6 innings. Got to go after the batter that's for sure. I am betting he might only make it to 6 this game too

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 08:42 PM) Crede has been flat out awful lately. He is just in a slump and that can happen and does happen to all players. But, when the guy is hot he can carry the team.

QUOTE (tommy @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 08:24 PM) Baltimore destroying the Cubs @ Wrigley * for anyone who cares. I do and I must say I am getting a sadistic good feeling about it

QUOTE (YASNY @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 06:02 PM) Giving it his all, and locking down the position defensively are two entirely different things. I don't care about his lack of offense, Uribe defensively is head and shoulders above Ozuna. Our pitchers will feel much better with Juan out there than Pablo, and that means a lot. I would have to say that defense wins games and Uribe has it over Ozuna
-
I think Wise has done a good job and in a way I can see why folks might be excited about things he does, but I think it is way to early to annoint him the savior of our outfield and the new lead off man.
-
QUOTE (YASNY @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 01:01 PM) If we lose an infielder to injury, I want someone that lock down the position defensively. Uribe stays, imho. I think that is a good point. But, I still think defensively Uribe is better than Ozuna and can play 3 positions just like Pablo, who I am not certain has been seen at SS much if at all. Not that Pablo doesn't give it his all though.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 09:43 PM) Don't know about you guys, but Uribe has pissed me off more than any other player in his stay with the Sox. Especially the past couple of years. You're right about Wise. He's not gonna hit .300 for much longer. He's on a nice little streak and will come down to Earth real soon. I can't disagree with you that uribe is one hard headed individual. I am surprised he hasn't plaeyd at 3B this year (or has he?) Wasn't that his role when first acquired from Coplorado-super sub in the IF?

Crede a late scratch tonight with "back stiffness"

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 04:58 PM) You really aren't this dumb, are you? Joe Crede has a long history of back problems, in fact it could be debated back problems are the only reason Joe isn't an even better player today. I am not saying to trade Joe either. Fields is hurt, plus Joe is a better play right now, and in addition, we have crossed the Rubicon with trading Joe as he is here until the season is over and then he is going to leave, that's the way it is. You make some strange posts, but this is right up there. Don't take what I said out of context or anything. The one thing I have never done on this board in 5 years is insult people. I would ask that you please refrain from these negative personal comments. I accept your apology. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 10:12 PM) Pablo: hits .300 (yes, I know, it's in limited at bats). Uribe: hits .200. I'd keep Pablo. Plus, Pablo has better speed. Uribe is a better defender and can hit with some pop. Wise is a good looking player, but might not be the one to stay anyway

Crede a late scratch tonight with "back stiffness"
elrockinMT replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Thome suffers from back stiffness and Konerko pulled a muscle and Quentins had was banged up. Calm down now please. I wonder how long it takes before we get the "trade him before it's too late posts and/or he is down for the count" etc etc -
You know the Dodger announcesr were really good. ESPN showed MB's k's and Mark sure pitched a nice game and we had some real good defense from Ramirez and Cabrera
-
QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 09:24 PM) I would lose Paulie and Thome before the ASB to pick up speed and average, no problem. If anybody will take them. We are in the first half of the season. Don't give up on the two guys that bring experience and stability to the team

QUOTE (retro1983hat @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 03:37 AM) Sorry to be Debbie Downer, but the Cubs undressed the Sox this weekend and exposed every naked weakness we have. Plain and simple, the Cubs are better. I hate to say it, but it's true, and everyone here deep down knows it too. Weaknesses? Only Game 3 was really bad for that. Otherwise it was strengths not performing as expected
-
AJ belongs there also. Plus this voting process is a joke anyway.
-
Joe Morgan of ESPN speculated that Ramirez and Beckham will be the Sox future DP combo, but it's anyone's guess which position they end up playng. I think Alexei is supposed to be the better SS so maybe Beckham ends up at 2B?

The Shrine? Why don't they treat it that way?

QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 07:18 PM) You know, the Wrigley family no longer owns the team. I think it's cause I don't buy their chewing gum anymore -

QUOTE (spataro51 @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 06:43 PM) GREAT THREAD! As a policeman here in the city i had the chance to work the game sat afternnoon as my unit was needed to help apprehend tix scalpers. At first i wasn't going to volunteer to go, but my partner changed my mind. As of 930 am outside wrigley, there was 3 drunk individuals from all seperate occasions that were arrested from urinating on someone's front porch; to throwing beer bottles at sox fans walking to the park, Cub fans don't respect the game of baseball and the right for someone to cheer for the other team, and they certainly don't respect the area around the park. The way the act to the citizens that live there are ridiculous! but on a good note It turned out i had a blast locking up 6 different cub fans that were out there scalping their tix. LOL One guy actually wasn't going to "sell" me his tix not because he thought me and partner were the police (we were not in uniform) but because i had my sox jersey on and my partner had his sox shirt on. So when he got caught after he agreed to "sell" It made me feel all the better! From one police officer to another I thank you -

There is nothing fun about the Cubs or Wrigley Field period. I don't even buy their chewing gum anymore
