We got beat three straight in Tampa also and survived. I think having both Konerko and Thome out at the same time is not a good thing when you play the Cubs. Jim did get that double on Sunday and looked good in that at bat. But, he most likely will be pinch hitting for the next three games in LA. He will be in the line up next weekend though and we will be at home. That has to be a good thing.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 04:18 AM) Okay, I see only two things happening vs. the dodgers. Either we sweep them easily and everything once again is fine in White Sox land (until we fall apart again), or we get our asses handed to us and panic really starts to break out. Hey wait a minute. A 50/50 chance? I feel strongly both ways? Those are my lines buddy. Quit stealing my thunder

I am counting on the home field advantage next weeke end also. I may only have the chance to see the Sunday Night game though. I hope we do good playing the Dodgers. I will make thinks abit better after this disaster.

See you all on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball. I'll be the one on the other end of the TV camera drinking a beer or two and toasting a winning Sox team.

If we need a reserve outfielder later this season then may Pods is worth a chance? Could be worse choices out there I am thinking.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 06:15 AM) Please do not use Jim Thome at 1b! One game isn't worth him possibly getting injured and being out for an extended period. I am thinking Thome needs to start today and at least once in LA. He clearly doesn't bring much as a PH (I hope I can be proven wrong) and it isn't good for him to be relegated to that role for 6 games in arow. We won't see him back in the line up until Friday

Wise hit a homer Saturday. Ok! I like the way he looks at the plate, but rather than think he is now of CF answer doesn't make any sense. BA is a better defensive player and defense can win you games. He also is showing improvement at the plate and is doing pretty well for a part-time starter.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 09:18 PM) hits the foul pole first...deflects slightly and then hits whatever it was behind it and bounced back toward the field...HR no doubt in my mind No. It missed the foul pole and hit something behind it in foul territory

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 11:02 PM) Oh my god those are announcers are unbearable and I only listened for ten seconds. "The way Cabrera reacted...blahblah". You mean like he thought it was a foul ball, you idiot? This coming from the Cubs, who has Aram sit at the plate for twenty minutes after he hits his. The Cubs announcers suck, but they aren't as bad as Tampa Bays

I can't stand the fact we got beat twice by the Cubs. We had plenty of chances to do some real damage especially in game 2 where we got plastered. I couldn't see how Guillen left Contreras in there for that kind of a beating. It seemed that from the start of that game he didn't have it at all. The Cubs beat us at our own game in game one with those 3 homers. Our bullpen went South just like it did in Tampa. Wed left runners in scoring position way to many times. But, I think I will hold back calling for heads to roll and players to get traded just yet.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 01:20 AM) That really is good stuff. Thanks. That did lighten the mood for me. I love Oz. I am in favor of giving him a lifetime contract. I hope you don't a lifetime recording contract

We want to win at least one game in the Chewing Gum Field. Hopefully next weekend the Sox do to the Cubs what they have done to us so far. Being that the game is on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball a win over the Cubs would be sweet and make a bit of this bad feeling in my mouth go away.

If he earns $12M a year I hope it's from our team.

I don't know what was better about the offense. The thirteen runs or scoring 6 in the bottom half of the inning after the Pirates knocked Floyd around for six in the top half? Floyd was dang lucky to get that win today.

I like our own people a lot. Speed might help, but I don't know what position we need to replace the current player with a speed demon

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 08:34 PM) We better have some fuel left in the tank for the Cubs. We've been crushing the ball this week, it should carry over. Then, we'll have a week of offensive futility. That's the way it's been for the last couple of weeks... How do you put the brakes on the offense and save gas? I am thinking that the fact this offesne busted out again may very well carry over to the Cubs series. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 08:29 PM) Time to make sure everybody gets an at bat and let up so we don't score all our runs today. Nice job of hitting, White Sox! Jermaine baby! Can I make Jermaine Dye my PTC? Games not over yet or anything -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 08:27 PM) You know, frankly I'd still like to see Linebrink get a little bit of work here. I was thinking about Linebrink a couple games ago. When is the last time he pitched? -
What thrilled me the most was his first homer in two years that he hit last night

Quentin sees three picthes and K's. That's not good. I hope he gets his head back in the game soon. I feel bad for his struggles and hope he can work through slump. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 03:57 PM) Gorzalanny walks a lot of guys. Hopefully, he doesn't have his control tonight and we can clobber him like we did with Snell. What I'm worried about is that he has a pretty good change-up and a nice slider. Those guys have given the Sox trouble forever. And oh yeah, he's a lefty. There's plenty to watchout for tonight. The old worry is that we haven't faced him before and he may be effectively wild. Anyway let's hiope we can put a hurt on this guy quick. -
Trading our prospects doesn't make a lot of sense and that has been a knock on the orgainization lately. If we have real good pitching prospects the next two or three years could see a makeover of our rotation by moving the youth into the mix.

It would appear that maybe the Vaz doersn't have it this evening. But, my fear is Ozzie will leave him in there anyway for 7 innings just cause he thinks he needs to -

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 02:41 AM) I see we've been acquainted with an old friend this evening, Habe Bawskez -- the Middle Eastern Gas Station attendant. Good at accounting and inventory, bad at pitching. Good one! I was just going to go with: What the heck s the matter with Vazquez? -
