Sunday I believe the Sox-Cubs game is on WGN. I will be watching so see you on the TV

Our finish for 2007 was probably a suggestion from the Twins-Tigers and Indians, etc

QUOTE(longshot7 @ Feb 28, 2007 -> 10:28 PM) He's a good meat-n-potatoes North Dakota kind of guy, and definitely a good teammate. As long as we don't expect too much of him - he's not a very good hitter at this point in his career - he'll be fine. I forgive him from being from No Dakota

Is four out of a total of 100 very good?

I hope at mid-season we are leading the AL Central and Buerhle gets signed to a new deal by the Sox.

Could be a pretty good outfield in.............

Mack shouldn't be playing, but at least gives flexibility to Ozzie. I hope the hype we are hearing is just that and used to charge up some youngsters and others. Play hard to win a spot and all that motivational stuff. -
Watching Vazquez last year and it seemed that for five innings he was probably one of the most dominant pitchers in the league, but after the 5th he would start to lose it. He did have some awesome games though. The man has the talent to be a big winner so maybe this is the year. I don't look for much in the way of attempts to resign our FA eligible players though. I will really be surprised-but in a good way- if KW does sign them to new contracts.

I like Scott Podsednik and the signing of Erstad. How CF plays out with the number of potentials is anyone's guess and I suppose the same can be said for LF, but at least we have lots of options. It's too early to be saying I told you say. That should wait till July or October B)

I hope this type of decision gets taken care of in ST and not drag on through part of the season and fail. I agree with others here that this has been tried and failed already. Iguchi is a fantastic #2 hitter and unless there's something out there we don't know about he should stay in the #2 spot. Why mess with success?

Would somebody explain something to me??

QUOTE(soxfan3530 @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 08:50 PM) thank you. there is no reason to "panic" before the season even starts. there are people on this board who think the sox can do no wrong and every flaw will be filled and there are people on this board who think the end of the world is coming and every flaw will end up being the worst possible scenario. calm down everyone and embrance the boys of summer for what they are right now. A baseball team that hasnt even reported to spring training yet! That's exactly what Spring Training is all about. More than anything it's just to get in shape, go through the drills and take a look at prospects. You get ready for opening day and 162 game schedule. I think we will be right up there with anyone elese and have a real good chance of taking it again. -

I'm not worried at all when I look at the DP combo of Fox and Aparicio and Early Wynn, Gary Peters, Joel Horlen & Lamar Hoyt anchoring the starting staff... wait a minute now where am I? The 2007 Sox will be just fine plus everyone is 0-0 and tied right now anyway -
Let's get this season underway.

Did anyone make mention that the Indians signed Cliff Politte to a minor league contract?

I think for the most part MLB players are spoiled. They get way to much money for playing a kids game. The teams perpetuate this FA craziness by being willing to pay exorbitant salaries for medicority and even more than exorbitant for a player that may be regarded as a premium player- a star if you will. The fans support this craze by continuing to fork over their weekly paychecks when they attend games and buy ticketsm souveniers, hotdogs and beer. I don't see it stopping though until bankruptcies occur. Saying all that I still think the Sox should try and sign Buerhle, Dye anda Iguchi, but my guess is it won't happen. We may see Buerhle gone this season before the other two.

Uribe is a good player and I am glad he's headed to Arizona.

Pods is not a bad player. Why are we bashing him? The guy was hurt. He can steal 50 plus bases when healthy and I think do much better this year with the bat. It seems we have to complain about somebody on the team and suggest trading him for some A league rookie and the Sox player doesn't deserve it.

I think the Garcia trade was a huge question mark as far as us giving up a proven winner for youngsters. Freddie developed a new picth and threw back to back one-hitters and that ain't shabby. We lose him and get two potentially good pitchers, but no Aaron Rowand, who I think most will agree is who we wanted. But, anyway we saved money and got two ML ready prospects. Ok, now we wait and see. But, saying the Cubs did good on their pitching selections? Please Mr. Rogers they barely hit the .500 level. Plus they got paid a ton.
-
I reserve my opinion till after the season. B) Trades and FA signingsa re a crap shoot anyway. This year might not work out, but next year could see one of these palyers being a Cy Young. You just never know. I thin k we could have done better for Freddie, but what we got was young talent with a high ceiling. Too late to worry about it now.

QUOTE(StatManDu @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 06:04 AM) That's a goodie ... The Fisk-Karko tandem of 1990 an 1991 wasn't bad either. You are correct! But, I do think Perzynski and Hall will do a real good job.
-
QUOTE(StatManDu @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 05:29 PM) With today being the 26th anniversary of the White Sox acquisition of Marc Hill, I got to thinking: Is Toby Hall the typical backup catcher? I can see him getting more playing time than the typical reserve backstop. I love the guy and think he is a great player but AJ Pierzynski lagged defensively a year ago and may be starting to show some wear and tear from his extended action behind the plate over the last few years. On paper, this is the best catching tandem the Sox have had since ... LaValliere and Karkovice? Hill was a solid backup to Fisk but he came to the Sox with nowhere near the resume that Hall has or LaValliere had. I wouldn't be surprised if Hall got 250-300 at bats. I wouldn't blame Ozzie if he used Hall as a late-inning defensive replacement. It will be interesting to see how this all pans out. www.whitesoxalmanac.com I think you are forgetting Duane Josephson and Ed Hermann

I think Perez is insurance and unlikely to make the ML roster

QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 08:16 PM) AA A drunk isn't going to hit a major league fastball let alone .235

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 03:29 AM) you guys have no idea how much you will hate Cintron if he is starting at SS. No idea. We need Juan Uribe's glove at SS. I can handle the batting average because of his glove and he does hit for some good power when he does connect
