Kenny Williams 670 radio interview Recap
elrockinMT replied to IlliniKrush's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Gammons is not telling us anything new. I like his qualified statement, "The Sox might be..." I am sure the Sox might be looking at a lot of different people. Plus why is it that we still have this trade Konerko or Valentin stuff coming up? Mota is not close to being equal talent with Konerko. Plus if we trade an established position player we open up another hole in our line up. I would guess that any trade we make will include prospects. -
The Official Carlos Beltran Traded Thread
elrockinMT replied to Mr. Showtime's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Not posted yet that I can see. Sports reports says Carlos Beltran was sent to the Astros with a relief pitcher going to Oakland and Royals get prospects. Don't know how to link so check the MLB page, etc. Sox need pitching, not a rent-a-player no matter how good Beltran is and I am just glad he went to the NL. -
Its a Nice Win, But There are still a few Problems

I was pretty sure there would be one. Sad isn't it? -
Thanks for checking that out Qwerty. Jose is a clutch performer.

I would like to see out fifth starter go an inning or more longer, but Rauch hung in there and got the job done for a win. A WIN FROM THE #5 SPOT! Be happy and maybe Jon can go morfe next time. He showed he should be here and that's after a lot of calls for his head on a platter after his boneheaded move. I liked Jon and didn't want to see him traded. If that's all he gets is the one win it was still worth it. -
This issue of trading our talent (or any team for that matter) for experience is one that could really spark a lot of conversation. I don't like to see the Sox give up young players, but if we are careful about it then maybe it isn't so bad as long as we are getting players who help and we win. I remember not too long ago watching ESPN BBTN and Harold reynolds said he couldn't understand the reluctance of teams to trade prospects for a player who is established and fills a need. He thought the concept of keeping prospects and waiting for them to develop was overrated. Opinions????

I have always supported them both and I hope they remember that in their wills. It does amze me though how many folks still call for those two to be a part of trades that KW might make. Jose espcially is right up there defensivelky and offensively has more homers than any AL shortstop. I don't know about the NL SS's though I imagine he is right up there.

Pitching has now become our weak spot and especially the relief corp. Hard to believe the turnaround.
-
Vic brought water out and not gasssssss!
-
Darensburg trying to do his best impression of the Sox bullpen. Put fuel on the fire boys.
-
Paulie has been great. If we need to trade... Trade pitching. The offense is at least trying to win games. It's the pitching that keeps giving it away.
-
Me too, Nuke. Otherwise I would cry.
-
First frickin freakin stinkin pitch right down the middle for a grand slam. Jackson should be gone. Koch at least lasted 2 or 3 pitches before blowing the game.
-
my keyboard can't spell. It should be back to back hits nd now the bags are full
-
I see Buerhle gives up baits with no outs. He's ready to give up back to the Indians
-
I am not disagreeing with you at all. I have to wonder too. It is a bit ridiculous when you hear the stat that the Sox hurlers are second in most homers allowed.
-
They are inconsistent for sure. But, Showtime, the Sox management claims that roof doesn't affect the ball. You obviously disgree.
-
Just logged on to see Konerko homer. My question is this: What in the heck has happened to this starting staff? Giving up a lot of runs and especially homers. Plus when the offense gets something going they invariably go out the next inning and give it all back.
-
Whether or not anyone thinks Esteban can win 21 games in 2004 is not the issue we should be worried in my opinion. We can't seem to find a legit #5 person and the other pitchers are struggling too. E Loiaza is a quality arm no doubt and we should sign him for an extension.
-
It was either him or that Psycho Lyons that said just the opposite about 2-3 weeks ago. I think Uribe will be good though and am happy we have him so don't get me wrong in my analysis please!
-
I am not sure, and would actally doubt Walker saying something publicly, but that is the gist of the comments about Uribe. He has worked with Walker this season to cut down on the swiong, not go for the homer everytime, etc, but he slips back into his old ways. There was a game broadcast on TV (I think either Fox or ESPN) where they showed Uribe almost coming out of his shoes in trying to bash the ball. The back foot was sliding all over the palce and all he was doing was popping up or missing the pitch all together. The comments were made by the announcers about what I just posted.

That's not even a little bit funny

Aaron Rowand deserves to be starting in CF on a regular basis and Timo Perez should be playing in the role he was traded for and that's reserve OF. I think Ozzie goes to long with some of these guys and is tinkering as much as Jerry Manuel was accused of tinkering. I also have my concerns with Uribe, but I think the real problem there is his refusal to listen to Greg Walker. That has been the rub on him for a long time and that's the fact he will not listen to his coaches. Uribe has a lot of upside otherwise and once he can get it through his head to learn from Greg Walker the more consistent hitter he will be.
-
Joe Borchard should not be traded. KW says he won't be traded. Garcia is basically a rent-a-player and you don't trade away a great prospect for someone you have on board for just a few months.
-
The Sox should be embarassed by their recent road trips. We got beat on the West coast and we travel to Florida and Montreal to get beat. However, Jon Garland was not the problem today. Jon deserved the confidence of Ozzie by pitching the 9th inning. He had given up only 1 hit. A great performance, but maybe when he gave up that double to Vidro we should have seen Shingo in there. Second guessing though ain't going to give you any different outcome to today's game. We just have to hope that someone steps up and delivers in the upcoming series('s) Yesterday I watched part of the game up to the point Munoz had given up 11 runs. I left, but kept the VCR running. We almost came back for the win didn't we? Ended up 17-14. I couldn't believe it. But, the relief corp just isn't as sharp as it was earlier. The starters for the most part have not been as sharp either. I hope it's just a little bump in the road to the pennant though.
