I hear you. Maybe he should say good things like that for our guys instead of mouthing off about the enemy?
-
Adkins gives up a homer to Texeira which went out to center.
-
What's he saying now that is so goofy? And in my opinion Hawk ain't much better.
-
Think Politte may stay in for the 9th? Adkins maybe? It is really good to see the offense rally after that Oakland fiasco. Schoe looks like he did a pretty good job too until he got tired.

now how many "prospects" have we given up for

Let's hope we didn't give up 5 prospects too many in dealing for Carl twice. If we win then of course it's a great trade. Lose and you have to wonder what was 2003 and 2004 all about anyway? -
It's time for BabyBerroa to take a week off

Yep, and they are all worth double the prospects for another year right? -

That's the rub with Uribe. He starts trying to be Babe Ruth and fails to stay within his ability. Walker tries hard with Uribe but it is a constant battle. -
I guess we are still in first in the Central. However, if this team doesn't get its act together when playing West Division teams you can kiss goodbye any advancement past the first round of the playoffs. I am totally ashamed of their displays on the Coast. Totally embarassing.

We already have 3 back up catchers so adding Brandon Inge from Detroit isn't a valid option to solve our starting catching. The Sox need a regular everyday catchers with some pop in his bat and who knows how to call a game.

I would like to believe our talent is better than 10 over too becasue at the end of the season 86-76 is not going to win it. If we are better these guys had better satrt showing it soon like on Saturday. If we go to Oakland and get swept or even go 1-3 it is not looking good for ther Sox when we have to start the playoffs with Oakland or Texas. This is about as painful as I can imagine it. We absolutely suck on offense and at least 6 or 7 out of the last 11 games have been horrible on offesne. We are way to streaky. And to top it off our vaunted pitching staff continues to give up homers at a record pace. These guys need to get their heads out from where the sun don't shine and they need to produce.

Let's go after Bartolo Colon or Sidney Ponson. Really Carl Everett might be a good fit and he is not too expensive. I think he could sub in the OF and DH. I like what Aaron Rowand has been doing though. I really think we will be looking more at a middle relief pitcher and a catcher rather than OF help.
-
Keep all our options open. If we can get someone like Olerud for cheap it might be worth it, but he is a role player and defensive guy and can't replace the likes of Konerko.
-
Yes! Catching will be our achille's heel. We lost a real good player with a bright future when we gave up Olivo. Alomar is a solid game caller, but not an everyday player. I think we need an everyday solid performer behind the plate such as a Kendall or Charles Johnson. I like what Aaron Rowand has been doing and Jose Valentin even more.

Nomar is recovering from injuries and is no better than Jose, and maybe worse on defense, and is a free agent at the end of the year. He wants to be with his bride on the West Coast. IOn the other hand we have Jose, who is leading SS in homers, is a steady defensive player and wants to be in Chicago and is a spark. Plus KW says he doesn't want to mess with the position players already in place. Trade better not happen and won't in my opinion.
-
Can't argue the fact trhe Sox should have had folks like Buerhle, Takatsu and Konerko on the all-star team, but really all the ranting annd gnashing of teeth, etc, doesn't do a thing. The system is unfair and always has been. Plus it is difficult to narrow down the team to the best 25 or 27 desrving players. We need two all-star games a year like they used to have.

Ben Davis hasn't hit the weight of a fly let along his own weight. The guy gives the Mendoza line a new and lower standard of measurement. I think he needs to work with Walker, et al, to figure out some way to improve his hitting. I am not impressed with Burke and his catching skills either. I am wondering if there might be a move made by KW to add an experienced catcher wioth some pop in his bat. Charles Johnson is most likely available again.

The Sox have been crusing along at a .500 pace and when it appears we will get Maggs and Frank back in the line up together than the Big Hurt gets injured. I think he has had this foot problem for quite sometime and a hitter needs a good healthy body to hit with power. If Frank can't push off or dig in right becasue of a bad foot it will affect his hitting for sure. If he goes on the DL it just puts us back in the same position as when Maggs was hurt.
-
Baseball is a game of inches. I don't think swinging at the first pitch, if it's a good one to hit is necessarily wrong. Sometimes hitters, Carlos Lee included, can be too aggressive and swing at things that aren't good pitches to hit. Carlos and Paulie are both good hitters though.
-
Loaiza over Lowe, but I don't think E Lo is being realistic. Look at Colon and Ponson, et al, that were big names and fizzled when paid a billion bucks to throw a baseball.
-
The questionable thing about this move is the fact the Big Hurt can all of sudden break out of a slump and carry the team on his back for a 2-week strtetch. He has been struggling, but his presence is major. Ozzie said the Sox weren't the same without Frank and Maggs and then he makes out a line up without both.
-
Rex, let all of us who wish they could go to Comiskey Park know about your experiences.
-
Any trade you make should be judged on whether it can help the team improve. There is nothing in the Nomar and Maggs trade talk to impress me with an improvement for the Sox. Jose is the most potent SS bat out there right now and all we would be doing in setting ourselves up for losing another free agent at the end of the year. I don't want to see Maggs traded, but it might happen and pitching is our need not an attitude problem. who most likely yearns for the West coast.
-
It is possible it might change for sure. I only have one question concerning the staff as a whole: How many home runs are these guys going to end up surrendering to the opposition by season's end? This is simply ridiculous for a pennat corending pitching staff to be giving up this many long balls. 3 more today.
-
That is possible too. I would hate to see us part with any more of the starting 9 (DH included) though. I would think that any additional trades will include our prospects, but then again I was shocked when Olivo was traded. If we don't pull the type of deal YASNY mentions then I think Davis goes down and gets playing time and coaching. I don't think you just dump Davis though. KW claims that the Sox staff saw things with Davis that are positive. Maybe though Davis gets included in a trade?

You would hope we don't overpay anyone. The Orioles overpaid Ponson big time and based their decision on one real good season from the guy. How many fans wanted Ponson in a Sox uniform and wanted the Sox to pay the guy $7M a year? Loaiza is a very good pitcher and we should resign him at fair value. The option is we are back to needing a 4th or 5th starter in '05 and are struggling again. Loaiza is a winner and will solidify the pitching staff. Garcia is a good pitcher and adding Garcia to the group of E LO, Mark B and Jon G we have a great starting staff. We also now see we have options for #5 with Shoe, Diaz and Rauch, et al. We need some staff stability. I think Kenny needs to get that job done and concenrate on getting Maggs resigned and add some middle relief.
