  1. I am thinking that since this guy is supposed to have talent maybe a swift kick in the pants and a heart-to-heart talk from Cooper and Ozzie will get him pitching like a big league pitcher is supposed to. At some point these vaunted rookies we have should step up and perform.
  2. Not that you guys are second best or anything.
  3. Logging on to see what's happening. Just in time to see Burke walk and Joe B hit the homer. I was hoping to see the game on TV. We get Fox Rocky Mountain and the broadcast Seattle games. I saw the Sox win of Friday on FoxRM and then last night on WGN. I will have to settle for this and MLB game day. But, Monday afternoon they are on WGN.
  4. The question I have is this: Has any pick we have made in a free agent loss situation ever made it to the bigs with our team and helped us? The only one I remember is Tom Seaver and you don't get those type of considerations anymore in the compensation arena. If we lose Maggs the only think positive is the $14M a year in salary that can go to other needs, but I would still like to see Maggs return.
  5. Which is just about on par with the other Sox rookies and fifth starters this year.
  6. I tend to agree, but not only am I concerned about the Everett trade, but the Alomar trade too. We don't know who we are going to lose there yet. We have given up a number of prospects for those two and have nothing to show for it.
  7. I just logged on and also checked MLB Gameday. A's lead 6-1 in the 5th so you are not far off. I think if I were one of these so called minor league Sox prospects I would hang my head in shame and look for another job. This 5th starter stuff is just becoming a deep hole.
  8. Thank you moderators! I enjoy this board and posting here, as well as sharing Sox expereinces, etc. All people's opinions are valid and we don't need the personal slams.
  9. You know that Jose is frustrated and embarassed with his level of play this year as far as batting is concerned. But, he still has 26 homers. He has done reasonably well in the field except for the last couple of months and everyone has been playing badly not just Jose. I think this lefty all the time hitting may have something to do with screwing up Jose also. Jose will be a positive member of the team next year, ig we re-sign him. I am all for it.
  10. YASNY, I think many of us have a pretty good idea that Garland can be a winner, but the kid just ain't got the intestinal fortitude or the inner fire yet. He needs to get his act together. I think Jon can be a 15 to 20 game winner, but he will always be a .500 pitcher the way he goes about the business now. Maybe next year though?
  11. I would be happy with Esteban back with the Sox in 2005 also. He showed that he can be a winner, but that he had to work at it. I wonder just how seriously he took the need to work hard on keeping that edge in '04? I believe this was a wake up call for E Lo plus he knows now he won't command the kind of money he may though he was going to get after '03.
  12. You must also applaud the ffesne today. 2 sizzling hits off a picther they most likely have never faced before, but had an ERA on around 7 a game coming in to today and a record of 2-9. They were Babe Ruth and lights out torching that guy. Garland and his 4 homers a game might be a bit under his usual uninspiring display of effective hurling. An I do mean hurling. :puke :puke :puke :puke
  13. KW made a mistake in getting Roberto Alomar. He is over the hill in my opinion and it showed some last year too. Plus he has been injured this year. Willie Harris has shown some great flashes from time to time and we need to see him at 2B the rest of the way. I just think Uribe should continue playing as the super sub, as we don't have anyone with his versatility. There needs to be some work done with Willie on his base runnings for sure, but you don't learn sitting on the bench while an over the hill star plays and doesn't contribute.
  14. Stewart never hit above 87-88 I don't believe and Cotts is just putting it up there to get hit. Thanks to our offense we are leading. We have have had some people come through tonight.
  15. There you go. I will be watching WGN tonight.
  16. Your right! We need the boost from The Big Hurt and Maggs for at least a full month of games to fuel the Sox and allow us to overcome the Twinkies. The 2 will also be fresh for the playoffs and beyond. We can still do it and w have a one game winning streak to build on now.
  17. cerb, I can save you the time and effort and advise ghat Ozzieball is crap. It's either that or Hawk H is full of crap, one or the other.
  18. We seem to get thrown out a lot and/or miss the hit and run sign. The game on Sunday had three Sox erased on the base paths if I remember right. They run themselves right out of the inning.
  19. I believe he does and it sticks clean out from his shoulder blades!
  20. Knowing that what you say is the truth I might add that Show needs to suck it up and pitch with more consistency and win some games, if he remains as starter #5. He seems to be making some big demands for a guy that has been struggling big time after that fast start to the season.
  21. Attention Sox fans we have a winning streak going. Yes!!!
  22. Shingo gets Carlos Guillen swinging for a K. I love it!
  23. The lead off walk better be followed by a GIDP
  24. Carlos Lee first pitch swinging into a double play. Singlehandly shut down a chance to rally put the game away. When is he going to learn patience?
  25. Right on, but even ol' shingles has been struggling at times.
