  1. I'm on your side! Why do we insist on valuing our players so low?
  2. WE Would have to give up minor league talent? Hudson is not worth Paul Konerko even up so why would we get robbed more y adding minor league talent on top of it? Hudson was not the A's ace last season at all, but PK hit 41 homer runs to lead all AL 1Bmen.
  3. DUMP Konerko?! Why would you "dump" a player who hit 41 homers and drove in 117 runs? Please people!
  4. Lee and Garland are way to much talent to give away for a pitcher nearing the end of his career. It weakens us overall. Randy is a very good if not great picther, but he doesn't have that much time left and he was injured last year.
  5. We have been down this road a number of times. It amazes how many people seem to want to dump our best players. We have astrength at 1B with Konerko and in LF with Carlos Lee. I also see strengths at CF with Rowand and even 3B with the potential of Crede. The Big Hurt is the man at DH. Uribe is a strength as a super sub in the IF. You don't trade strength in one area to build up ina weak area becasue you just weaken yourself again and don't really improve. I think our relief corp and a another quality starter are our needs. I can't believe how many peopl liked the idea of Foulke for Koch a couple years ago. We even signed Koch for what essentially was the same amount of money Foulke was asking. I thin we would have won the AL Central in '03 and maybe '04 with Foulke as our closer. But, the powers to be didn't think Foulke had it in him anymore. I think our problem is not having a good value or take on our own talent. 5 or more prospects for the likes of Robbie Alomar and Carl Everett? Need I say more...
  6. Yeah Steff, but I heard that Donald Trump is interested in the team, the Sox will sign Maggs to a mutli year contract and that we are ready to acqire Nomar Garciapara. Where have you been during all this?
  7. Yeah, but they said that about him three years ago. Remember when Boston gave up on Clemens too?
  8. My guess is the Yankees will attempt to resign Esteban. If they don't I would offer him a major league contract and not a minor league contract. He deserves it.
  9. Why would you want to trade Konerko and replace him with Sexson anyway? Please don't get carried away.
  10. I still love Jose Valentin. Not in that way mind you... I like people who have something to prove and Jose does. He is a good fit on this team. Failing that though I would like Vizquel before Barry Larkin.
  11. I'm sorry Lefty, but I can't resist this: You mean there is another game out there other than baseball?
  12. I forgot that one YASNY. I was thinking the same thing when McCarver was jacking his jaws about the move. My thoughts were that Laruusa was making the smart move by pitching to Lima, the pitcher who had something like 9 hits in 62 AB's with 2 RBI's for the season. It was a prudent baseball move. But, Tim M shows again why he isn't a manager or coach. I forgot also about the annoying banter from those characters on ESPN BBTN. Reynolds and Dibble get me going with their stuff.
  13. No there are two problems with Burke and the second one is that he is not a good defensive catcher. Pretty good with the bat though. I would hope the Sox might try and upgrade at catcher in the off season.
  14. Ross Gload is a real good substitute and can be used in LF-RF-IB or DH, but he is not a candidate to be a regular starter. Especially to replace Konerko.
  15. Yes sir! I agree 100%. Lee will get to that 100 RBI mark in the next game adn Paulie has 115. You don't trade that kind of production.
  16. 2nd CG in a row for Mark too. He has really domnated also and I like the more innngs less hits allowed stuff.
  17. Yes, I think so. You'd have to go through old box scores, but I think he had ONE! Lot's of talent and power (8 homers) but he is inconsistent for sure.
  18. OUCHHHHHHHH!! But, Joe B has 7 homers and has shown some good possibilities.
  19. No they can't and wouldn't and shouldn't
  20. Reed is a singles hitter. Lee and Konerko can hit for average and power and RBI's. Why are people even thinking trading these two? Why do we have posters putting down the fact Reed gets $300K, which might be too high of an estimate? You don't win games or a pennant based on salary earned.
  21. I can't agree with you folks. I think Jose should be back next year. Although not at $5M a year. He still has a lot to offer a contending club and the Sox in particular. It was a good game to win with a number of people stepping up today especially Jon Garland. Impressive displays by Jon tday and Mark B on Saturday.
  22. Jon deserves extra kudos for his effort. Every good outing from Jon and/or any other Sox player just builds up some hope for next year. I am tired of waiting for that championship, but hope springs eternal every new season. I root for our team to have great outings through the end of the season and let's get ready for next year.
  23. Carl has not impressed me this year like he did in '03. Maybe the injuries have really taken their toll on him, but I think in building a winning team that Borchard gets the call in RF.
  24. Paulie must have forgot he needs to swing the bat. Caught looking on 3 strikes. Hopefully Jon comes out for the 9th. I wonder when the last time the Sox had back-to-back complete games?
