Sox Avoid Arbitration
You must be psychic or have insider information on the front office. Which one is it? Can you ask my dead great-grandfather where he hid the key to the family fortune? Actually in today's game I think Garland is worth $3.4M. What they heck How much did we pay Koch and Navarro and neither one had as many wins as Jon.

Kyle Farnsworth
We have a looney manager who may be in need of more loonies. Let's get all the loonies available out there and they will be eternally loonie together. I just hope we are not so loonie that we give up real talent for castoffs. It seems we have been relegated to picking up second tier players recovering from arm injuries and hoping we have a gem. It's just loonie I tell you!

Start by Signing Corey Koskie
I think we have said that about this web site before.I agree that this is how it should be all the time. That's why I like it so much.

Lots of concrete out there. I just don't like the Twins, OK?

Sun - Times Article
Remember Dye is being put out there by a reporter who is zero for every possible scenario. I don't see Dye as being on the Sox needs list. I would much rather go with one of our own and that includes Borchard in th mix. We need a reliever (middle or closer) and another starter.

I think Crede has shown his potential and Walker thinks he can produce. By the way when I say cheaper all I mean is that he is not commanding millions of dollars yet. Defensively Crede is very good. Koskie can do well hitting balls off fake grass in the garbage dome, which I suspect may actually be concrete but I can't prove it, but playing 81 games in Comiskey might not be as good.

No thanks to Koskie. Crede has more potential. Plus he is cheaper. Let's spend our meager money resources on someone we really need like a pitcher and keep those you mentioned. Garland should not be traded becasue we need the hurlers and instead of gaining ground we would just be back at the same level.

What Now?
The Sox will not pay big money for any FA. If they sign free agenst they will pick up role players. Also I don't think Randy Johnson even wants to come to the Chisox.

Let see how this trade goes over here
Wrong!

Ramon Ortiz
Pleas clarify why we would offer Ortiz $4M a year? He is released by the Angels and was used a lot as a long reliever. Am I thinking of another pitcher here? I agree that Ortiz might be an interesting pick up, but I am thinking more of being the #5 starter.

Why trade Paul Konerko?
That deal was awfully one sided. :puke :headshake

Why trade Paul Konerko?
If the idea that you trade someone because their value is at a high point then why didn't the likes of Mantle, Mays and Bonds get traded. You don't trade your best players just because you think you are going to make a blockbuster. You keep your best players and build around them. We need a SP and a closer and you can do that through the savings from Maggs leaving.
-
Why trade Paul Konerko?
I agree with you Hawaii! There is no need or reason to trade Konerko OR Lee. If Maggs doesn't resign that free agent SPrees up lots on money to go after a free agent SP and a closer.

Organizational Meetings Article
He still might deevlop into a hitter. We need to keep that thought in our head because Joe B will be here and most likely in RF in '05.

Organizational Meetings Article
I am surprised that baseball folks would even consider paying another player in the $18 to $20M range. Alex Rod didn't equal a championship for the Rangers or the Yankees. You don't win with one guy and that's what Texas tried to do. The Yanks took on all that salary and still didn't win. He is great no doubt about it, but i would have thought the days of monster salaries might be over finally.

Sox to play Rockies for the first time in 2005
I'm going to try and make it to Denver for this series. It's about 9 hours from here.

Ken Rosenthal Reports:
Did I hear right that Chavez was on the block? Might have been idle chatter though?
-
Ken Rosenthal Reports:
I respect what you are saying, but I think you are contradicting yourself a bit. Would I want one of the A's big 3 or 4 Yes! However, they all slipped last year and Konerko was on the upswing and I think he can still get better.
-
Ken Rosenthal Reports:
Doesn't have to be that way. It could be Paulie and Pavano.
-
Ken Rosenthal Reports:
qwerty I wouldn't trade Carlos Lee either. But, I stick with my comments on PK also.
-
Ken Rosenthal Reports:
I beg to differ... I think that is being realistic and knowing your best players. Now maybe we should look at trading Crede for Hudson? I like Joe a lot also, but that makes more sense than your best slugger.
-
Ken Rosenthal Reports:
I would have to reexamine our road record for the last few years. I am not so certain we sucked every year, but I would have to see the numbers before challenging you on that. You might be right that we haven't been a rip roaring road club, but is that Konerko's fault? Would Hudson mae us better at the expense of losing PK?
-
Ken Rosenthal Reports:
You play 81 games at the cell. You build your team around your park. Konerko did good.
-
Ken Rosenthal Reports:
I'll say it again Qwert... You don't trade people like Paul Konerko. You keep him and get your pitching via the FA route. Hudson is not worth Paul Konerko.
-
Ken Rosenthal Reports:
Apparently we didn't watch the same Paul Konerko. The guy did everything he was asked to do and more as a team player. He went to right for the single when needed and was unselfish to a fault. While others padded their stats PK was a team player.
