  1. #1 ASU got pounded tonight by Stanford 12-2. Back to earth.........
  2. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 07:16 PM) Oh and once again, scoreless innings in relief. I cannot stress how important that is for this team. Logan, Linebrink and Jenks, well done. As well as Dotel. Besides one bad pitch...he's been pretty lights out as well. Nice combo to have. I'd still like to see them send MMac down though and bring up Wasserman.
  3. My personal opinion is he's be better served in AAA right now. If it ain't broke...don't fix it.
  4. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 06:02 PM) Anyone catch Swish reading the lineup? LOL I missed that. What I want to know is what the hell is Swish always looking at in the box before the pitch?!?
  5. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 05:47 PM) Oh and Swisher has surprised me with his range out in the outfield. He made some nice plays today. I still think ultimately Dye should move to LF with Quentin playing RF (I really hope the more Ozzie sees Quentin the more he realizes just how good of a baseball player Carlos already is and just how good he will be). Swish has looked great out there and it would be a shame if they messed with this lineup right now and just handed the job back to Owens. I'll take Quentin over Owens any day. As for Carlos...I got to see quite a bit of him early in his career with AZ and when he was with Stanford. Mark Marquess always called him one of the best he's ever had out there. I don't even think he's touched his abilities yet at this level...plus...he's not even 100%.
  6. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 05:41 PM) Last season this club would have lost the game and this year they won it. This is a much better baseball team, imo. Night and Day better. The passion is back! also...Clev losing 6-1 now late. Go A's.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 05:37 PM) We could very well be 4-1 right now and I'm liking the make-up of this team. Me too...LOVIN IT. I really like the enthusiasm these guys are having in the dugout. Nice to see after the last few years. Gotta give some Kudos to Kenny.
  8. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 05:31 PM) No worse than 3-3 on this trip not bad 4-2 would be super sweet!!!!
  9. Wow...some guys I was down on really coming through for this team! Tied for 1st!!!!!!!!!!
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 05:07 PM) Dye had me scared coming in to the season because he looked so bad in the last week of ST. Man he showed me. That's a big club Balta. I was ready to go another direction....I stand corrected. Maybe the youth has sparked JD somewhat.
  11. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 04:46 PM) Toby Hall is the worst player in the major leagues. Maybe he should become a relief pitcher. I'm sure the Tigers would have interest. I think I'd gladly eat the 1.7M to see him gone. Doubt it happens...but one can hope.
  12. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 07:13 PM) Yea i was probably watching the cubs games too since they were on wgn but so were the sox and they might have run them during the bears games too. Sox were on Channel 32...WFLD if I remember correctly.
  13. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 06:43 PM) I was thinking 21 was the drinking age but since I was 10 i dont know what it was back in 68. When I was that age it was 19. I turned 19 in October (of '79) and they switched it to 21 that Jan 1 and didn't even have the nads to Grandfather Clause it. So I had 2 1/2 mo. to drink legally. But I was a master of the ID doctoring...so it didn't matter too much.
  14. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 06:10 PM) If you are good offensively, you have to be simply godawful defensively to be brought down, ala Ryan Braun last season. Joe Crede's defense isn't good enough for me to ignore his bat. And, because of how mediocre offensively he is, and how he rates among all other 3Bman in the league, I consider him to be quite mediocre. I see what you're sayin'....but don't necessarily agree with it. I think ARod is a below average 3B. But he's a great player. As for defining a good 3b...I'd take .250-260 and a great glove anyday. But that's just my opinion.
  15. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 05:51 PM) I'd rather have Miguel Cabrera at 3B than Joe Crede, and Crede is probably twice the defensive player Cabrera is when his back isn't acting up. That's because Miguel Cabrera is a friggin monster. As Rowand alluded to, Crede is an average 3Bman overall. Nick Punto and Brandon Inge aren't mediocre defensively, but they ride the pine because they are average. Crede really isn't that much better, if at all, than Brandon Inge. I guess I just dont' agree with the classifying. To me it's 2 different subjects. Offensively vs Defensively. Where do you draw the line as to what a good 3B is? To me if you bat around .250 and have a great glove...you're a good 3B.
  16. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 05:37 PM) he is mediocre 3Bman with everything considered Defensively?!?...not hardly.
  17. That's great. I'd kill myself if I had to listen to that guy do Sox games....
  18. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 05:17 PM) if you were old enough to drink in the 60's lets say that was 40 years ago that would make you at least 61 now. do we have any one that old posting on here ? I'm old but was just a kid about 10 in 1968. I do remember the Hamm's commercials with the bear. Hamm's the beer refreshing. Hamm's the beer refreshing. Hammmm's. I wasn't old enough. I was born in '60. I'd remember if I was drinkin' it. But I remember Harry gettin' hammered in the booth. He'd be s***faced by the 4th inning of the second game of a doubleheader.
  19. Seems to me Schlitz was the beer of choice sold at old Comisky for quite a while...then I started thinking it was Falstaff (back in the 60's). I know they switched to Strohs for a year or two...but then wondered if they had a Hamm's in there for a bit too. Anybody remember?
  20. I didn't realize this...but Chicago is 20-9 at Comerica Park since 2005. Nice.
  21. I am REALLY LOVIN' the energy in the dugout from these guys. They look like a completely rejuvinated team.... And the bullpen has been fantastic.
  22. Anybody notice the reaction of the tiger fan sitting behind home plate on AJ's dinger. He was PISSED! hahahaaaa Great all around game today. LOVE the energy on the bench with these guys.......
  23. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 03:16 PM) That went from "oh s***, that'll score 1" to "no JD, don't dive!" to "YES! JD!" LOL....yes it did.
  24. Linebrink throws a hell of alot harder than I thought.
