    Dotel

I'm still wondering why Dotel instead of Linebrink?!?
  2. QUOTE(Shadows @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 06:13 PM) Dotel doesn't deserve any blame Its Buehrle who is the reason we lost, not the umpires and not Dotel.. our "Ace" sucked, plain and simple 1.2 IP 7 ER from our #1 that is why we lost Yeah...let's forget the fack that Buehrle had Gutierrez K'd with a PERFECT pitch. Not saying that it would have changed everything...but ya never know. Dotel just seems like a FLAT OUT WASTE OF MONEY at this point. Still not sure why Linebrink wasn't in there though instead of Dotel.
  3. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 05:43 PM) The emotion shown today has been missing for a while now, and it's good to see it might be back. Hopefully these guys come out strong Wednesday. I wasn't terribly impressed with the Tribe today anyway. That's what I was thinking. Hopefully they come out pissed about losing a game like this and put a hurt on the Tribe. This team's lacked emotion for the past few years...but it was really evident today that they had it. I was VERY encouraged what I saw today (except for Dotel). I'm really surprised Ozzie didn't get tossed today. He had every right to.
  4. Why on God's Green Earth did KW spend the quiche on Linebrink AND Dotel?!? Goddamn I'm so mad right now...
  5. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 04:56 PM) Farmer says you cannot try to grab him with your hands like he tried That's true...but no bearing on the play whatsoever. TERRIBLE CALLS. Sox getting hosed BIG TIME.
  6. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 04:00 PM) Mark, you're off the hook you lucky SOB. He'll take it!! OCab says hell yes too!!!!
  7. F$#@ YEAH!!!!!!!!!! Paulie. OCab runs through the late stop sign.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 03:41 PM) I'll never understand what KW was thinking with those two. Me neither. It's time to move on with this experiment. Joe's not coming back and Juan will never change.
  9. QUOTE(JohnCangelosi @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 02:32 PM) The ump blew a call on Gutierrez...then he hits a 3 run homer. Pathetic performance by Buerhle however, looks like its going to be a long year. He sure did...and it wasn't even close. Gotta put it on a tee I guess. One bad inning...let's bounce back from the doom and gloom.
  10. QUOTE(Linnwood @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 02:01 PM) The ExtraInnings package on DirecTV is in Free Preview mode starting today through April 6th. So if you have DirecTV, you have today's game. (This might also be true with cable.) THANKS DUDE...mine's working on digital cable. mlbtv can stuff it!
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 06:34 PM) ridiculously long article. Goes through every single year since 1908. Im so sick of hearing about the f***ing cubs. ^^^^^^ What Rock said. Geez-us...that was a complete waste of bandwidth. I understand having an article...but how many friggin pages? Sometimes I wish they'd just win it to shut all these scribes up....NAAAAAAH! Nevermind.
  12. QUOTE(Princess Dye @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 05:08 PM) How in those $118 Million are we not able to find a #3 starter. oof. Mistakes IMO: Uribe (easy to justify though): $4.1M Crede: $4.9M (see Dye) Dotel: $5M (remains to be seen...hope I'm wrong) Dye: $7.5M (As much as I like JD....it was time to move on) Complete waste of $$$: Toady Hall: $1.75M
  13. Pretty sombering news for a pretty good guy. Best of luck Doug.
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 05:23 PM) I think we're all hoping that. Between Fields, ARam, Richar, Quentin, Anderson, Owens, and Swisher...we could have about 7-8 lineup spots covered by guys who are either making the minimum or who are signed to really cheap contracts because they're still young. Say what you will about the Sox having a barren system...that's an awful lot of payroll flexibility if they all turn out.l That's VERY encouraging to say the least. Not only cheap contracts...but guys with a ton of talent as well as upside IMO. I guess that's my problem having guys like Juan, Crede and Dye still around. If we're not really contending...I'd like to see the younger guys playing.
  15. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 12:30 PM) Man Ram is going to have an absolutely insane season this year. Man Ram better learn to quit standing there like an A-hole after he hits the ball or he's gonna catch one in the earhole.
  16. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 05:22 PM) Swisher, Owens/Anderson/Quentin, Dye in the OF. If Dye has even a remotely decent season by the deadline (and the Sox aren't in the race)...I think he's gone. Time to move on...
  17. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 04:17 PM) Do you think that facing Tim Redding, Felix Diaz and Toma Ohka are great preparations for facing Verlander or CC, or Liriano. Are their stuff comparable. What's the argument...should he be sent down or not? If Crede's starting...why shouldn't he at least be getting at bats in game situations everyday instead of bp before games and fossilizing on the bench or playing every 4 days or so.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 04:16 PM) It would be a joke if Ramirez started in CF over Anderson. Yes it would...
  19. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 04:06 PM) Even at Crede's best, I doubt he was as good as Brandon Inge and Pedro Feliz. I'd even bet that there are several who are right on par with him, such as Ryan Zimmerman, (a healthy) Eric Chavez and Mike Lowell. Hey...I'm not saying that Crede's Brooks Rob II.....but Brandon Inge? I haven't seen Feliz play enough to make a judgement...but Inge?
  20. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 03:54 PM) Between decimating the minor leages system and the unnecessary contracts (Hall, Uribe, Dye), I wonder if failing this year would take some of the starch out of KW's collar. That's $13.4M in contracts right there. Add Crede's...that's $18.3M I'm also hoping that Dotel's worth the 5M also he's getting....that's some pretty hefty coin.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 03:51 PM) A contract we apparently don't want to waste. God know there's enough of those right now.....
  22. Ya know...everybody's got their points on all these moves: Fields/Crede, BA/Owens, Uribe, etc...and it is what it is...but for the life of me I'm still trying to figure out just WHAT THE HELL Toby Hall brings to this team?!?
  23. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 04:08 AM) I'm not reading this entire thread, but it's been sitting here for a while. A few thoughts... 1) If Crede is traded, I imagine it will be for someone who is serviceable. Not good, probably not mediocre, but someone who will do something for the Sox. Cheat mentioned Eugenio Velez on his blog a couple weeks ago, and I could see that as a distinct possibility. 2) Fields spending time in AAA wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for his development; the kid can't hit a meat fastball yet, so spending some time in AAA working on hitting those wouldn't hurt. In fact, it might be a good thing, and he might develop a bit of plate recognition, hit .270, and walk 70-80 times a year. If he does that, he's an All Star. 3) Fields will likely be called up for 15-20 games or so before June, so it's not like he'd spend all year in AAA. He'll almost assuredly get 200-300 PAs this year, because really, if Crede or Thome goes down, Fields will be the first called up and both of those scenarios are very, very likely. It's also likely Crede will be traded before July, so that would increase his PAs. 4) The old saying goes that you can't win the division in April, but you can lose it. I see Crede as a potential piece that could lose the division for the Sox, especially if he comes out of the gate and hits .210 again. I don't see why that's not a possibility. 3B should really be dictated by how the Sox feel Crede is; if they think he can hit even .260 with modest power and 95% of his defensive range, the job should be his. If he can't do all of that, they should trade him for what they can get and have Fields be the 3Bman. As much as it sucks for me to say this, as I want Josh starting, it is entirely up to Crede as to whether or not he's the starting 3Bman come opening day, and Josh Fields can no longer do anything to force the issue. Nicely said wsf...pretty much sums up how I feel as well. As much as I'd like to see Joe do well for the team's sake...that's how you have to look at it...what's best for the team in the long run and if sending Josh down to work on his D as well as hitting fastballs and he improves...it's all good in the long run since he's the 3B of the future for this team. My personal choice though would have been JF at the corner. If Joe's not producing at the plate...this team will need all the offensive support it can get and Josh is a better fit.
