QUOTE (dasox24 @ Aug 14, 2017 -> 11:51 AM) Agreed with the posts above. There is zero downside to adding Aguayo. If he can rediscover the way he kicked in college, we have a kicker for the next decade. If he doesn't, just cut him. I really like taking the chance, even if it's slim. Not sure it's "rediscover"...just merely "RELAX". Kid had a ton of pressure put on him by the Bucs FO...not only taking him that high...but giving up a bunch to do it. Who friggin' does that?!? He just had the weight of the world on him not only that high a pick...but as is often mentioned...the pressures a kicker faces with men/teammates livelihoods falling on his shoulders sometimes. I feel bad for him...but like you said da...if they just brought him in and said "relax kid...you're fine"...they'll be set for a long while.

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Aug 12, 2017 -> 11:54 AM) Given that Alex Bregman and Brendan Rodgers went 2/3, respectively, in 2015, Carlos Rodon at #3 in 2014 after Brady Aiken & Tyler Kolek were selected, Kris Bryant at #2 in 2013 after Mark Appel was taken first, so on and so forth, picking 2 or 3 doesn't bother me at all, especially if it's due to late season success of the young future stars. Me neither. I rather hit a home run at #3 than have an epic fail/disaster at #1. It's never a sure thing at #1 and honestly more hype...but I will say lately I have a ton more confidence with this FO and Hahn calling shots these days than in the past. All I keep envisioning tho...is all the young talent we have right now and a possible rotation of Rodon, Kopech, Lopez, Giolito and either Dunning, Hansen or Cease in a couple years. Good lord....plus add whoever gets selected next year...Sox sitting very well indeed.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 07:54 PM) Actually he is. Remember when he asked Stone what he meant by the catcher being "quiet" behind the plate? as long as he quits saying HO-SAY.... -

QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 07:38 PM) No thanks. He seems to genuinely like working with JB I think he'd genuinely like working with anybody not named Hawk.... -

QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 07:27 PM) Yeah, he's a lefty. Let's leave it at that. yeah...it's getting pretty frustrating to watch. Is it something that'll change...or he'll get better? Should be addressed tho at some point IMO... -

QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 06:56 PM) I've heard he's back up to 94-97. Obviously That is worst of Kopech, Lopez and he in terms of velocity but he has problems with command because it moves so much. Giolito probably has the least straight fastball out of the three. Like Ace said too...don't sleep on Hansen either... -

Nice! impressive start..... -
tellin ya...really like this signing. I watched him for three years out here...kid was lights out as a closer most of the time. Very under the radar move that will reap benefits down the road IMO.

Nice pickup! I always called him Baby Jenks at ASU!...dude could bring some cheese.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 10:31 PM) I always says the preseason means nothing, but that felt like the funnest home game in 2-3 years once he came in. this. I'm absolutely giddy with this kids performance. Poise...accuracy...composure...he looked like a 3 year vet out there. I just sat there with each play going "are you effing kidding me?!?... throw after throw. I don't care if he is a rookie....like Mullin mentioned recently...the kid's got that "it" factor when on the field. I think we go ourselves a QB boys....
-
lol...my Dad on the field right now hobnobbin' before the game with Bregman. The guy he's talking with is a family friend he went with and Bregman's personal trainer in the off-season... I text my Dad and told him to tell Bregman they're goin down like a fresh Krispy Kreme donut.
-
why not. He's got nothing left to prove in Winston-Salem....
-
LOL...that was so friggin awesome.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 05:31 PM) Sick speed from right hand box he'll starting roping eventually...but what he's shown from his D and ridiculous wheels...good lord is he gonna be a good one.

Be curious to see where the Cubs farm system is ranked this offseason. Theo's pretty much gutted it....

Good for Matt....nice job!

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 02:42 PM) I don't think they'll consider Anderson at all when they're making their draft picks next year. If they have a top grade for a SS they won't hesitate to take a SS because their system doesn't have a high ranking SS at any level and because if Anderson does turn it around in a year or two there won't be any problem moving a guy from SS to 3b or CF or whatever opening they have. That is one of the nice things about SS's, they tend to be good athletes and you can move them to whatever is open other than the catcher's spot. After the first pick, I still generally expect them to go best available, but I do think it'll be a pitching heavy draft because they didn't pick up many pitchers this year, meaning they will have a whole lot of openings at lower levels for pitchers from next year's draft. That, and the White Sox tend to draft pitching heavy most years anyway. Fair enough...but the second part of your first sentence kind of gives a sound reasoning to take Turang (if they feel he's worthy) overall...or possibly Madrigal if they're picking 2nd or 3rd. There's a dearth of SS talent in the system. We got plenty of big bats (sorry Beer fans)...
